It may not apply here but I've been in the process of building a house (I'm not doing the actual work) for a year and all I keep hearing from the builder and subs is that since the economy took a shit, there's a huge lack of skilled labor for carpentry, electrical, plumbing, etc as people bowed out of the industry and went elsewhere. Seems like a good opportunity for some folks to find some solid work and make some decent $. A friend of mine who worked for Drees homes for many years was laid off in '08 because of the economy. He was really good at what he did and started doing side work under the table. He made $80k in his first year (tax free) and was turning away people because he had so much work just through work of mouth. He's since found work doing county maintenance in NKY but that one year he raked.

Doesn't matter what their policy is, it was unnecessary and wholly inappropriate. This wasn't a serial killer or mass murderer on their own in a car. It was a mom and kids with lesser offenses. Mythbusters showed this doesn't happen...only in movies. Although it would be cool.

No justification at all for firing on a fleeing vehicle when such action was not immediately threatening the life or well being of the officers or any uninvolved civilians. Everyone makes mistakes in the heat of the moment though and the officer is very lucky he did not strike one of the children. That said, the mom is despicable and has no business being a parent. I feel bad for the kids in all of this. I'm sure it was traumatic for them and it may land them in foster homes depending on what the dad(s) situation is.

Done that (well, I didn't exactly break his face). It's not about often...once is too many. Not that we can do anything about it...just musing.

I wonder how many that think about it, actually take action on those thoughts.

Long story behind this but here goes. I had an iPad Retina and had planned on getting the retina mini when it was released. Then my iPad got stolen three months ago so as a stopgap until the mini retina was released, I bought this one. Yesterday I got the retina mini so I'm selling this. Because I knew I would be selling this, I kept it in pristine condition. It was in a case with a cover for the entire time. I never even took off the plastic from the cord and plug since I had the stuff from the one that was stolen and my iPhone. There's not a single mark or blemish on it. I even packed it in the original plastic although I couldn't keep a bit of dust out . New these are $400 and you can find these refurbished for $330 on Apple's site but you have to pay taxes and shipping. Ebay they are $325+. SOLD. iPad Mini Black 32GB WiFi only (not a retina) Model# MD529LL/A You won't find a another used iPad mini in better shape! I tried to take pics that showed the unblemished screen and back.

I always felt about 26% better Actually, I've been saying for years that drivers should have to take a watered down version of the MSF course so they learn some of the things they teach in there like not being in people's blind spot, etc. I know that class alone made me think different (better) as a driver.
