  1. Agreed, went yesterday afternoon and thought the show was a lot bigger than what I remembered from several years ago. Had a lot to look at and plenty of diverse things to lay your eyes on. The stunt show was a good addition too. Lots of vendors selling different things and even some cool things. Picked up a power outlet and RAM mount for the bike at a discount. Lots of cool bikes, vintage and custom bikes too. Wished I could have spent more time there. Glad I went.
  2. Looks like $8 unless you drive your bike!!! Coooolllllddddd. http://www.motorcycleshows.com/cleveland
  3. Sorry to put so much advice into one post, but this is important. I built my house 10 years ago. Similar situation as yours. Took an acre and half off the farm and built something we are going to be in for most our lives. Went with a 2 story colonial as it's cheaper to go up than out (ranch) but that's your choice. Larger bathrooms are nice especially the Master bath. Of course the 3 car garage too is nice and pretty standard these days. Just make sure the garage is large enough for all the toys plus cars. You can make it larger and wider. 8' high door is always a good upgrade for trucks. We rough plumbed the basement for a full bath later on. (I am in the process of finishing it now.) I would definitely go with 2x6 framing on the outside walls and look at geothermal heating. Heating costs only keep going up. We have access to all the free wood I can cut from the farm so we put in a wood stove. Love the wood stove on any winter nights. Saves us heating as we supplement with wood instead of using propane all the time. I don't have access to natural gas yet. Check your local building and zoning codes for the County/Township. Zoning will dictate the lot size for well and septic even if you have city services. Get a perk test done first before you split the land off by a surveyor. You don't want stuck with an un-buildable lot if you can't get a septic system to work on it. If your local health dept. is following the new state rules for septic systems, you will most likely have to hire a soil scientist to do core soil samples to tell you if the land will work for a septic system. I did a "quit-claim" deed with my Dad and Uncle who own the farm to split off a lot. Remember, you will have to pay taxes on the improvements on the lot when the house gets added so taxes will go up on the land when the house gets built. Leave some extra money for cost over runs in your loan and be careful to pick a good reputable builder. My brother-in-law almost lost a new house under construction after the builder went out of business when he didn't pay his contractor's from other houses and several leans were filed on their house and work had to stop for many months. Check references for sure. Lucky for them one of his supervisors picked it up and finished the house after the leans came off. Don't sign any bank "draw slips" until that portion of the work is complete and you are happy with the work. Some builders will try to get you to sign more construction draws even though the work was not completed. Above all, be flexible and be involved. I checked on things daily. Builders are only as good as their contractors and believe me contractors will try to cut corners. I would catch things along the way and have to call the GC to straighten it out. My wife and I have similar taste and expectations. We both agreed on most things and overall, I really enjoyed it. It sure is not a perfect process. Good luck and have fun. You will find out what your marriage and personality are made of if you let every little thing get to you.
  4. what year is the 3 wheeler? Looks familiar. We have 2 of them for the farm and Dad still rides the one everywhere. One is a '83 and the other an '85 Honda 250. Major improvements made to the suspension to the '85. Love riding it in the snow too. Can't remember if '85 was the last year manf. or not? Lots of fun.
  5. welcome...it's very entertaining and informative.
  6. Funny, i actually know a guy i worked with who did this down in the hills of WV for their camp....wonder if this is it? He retired before i got to see finished pics.
  7. I bet google knows how to fly it too!!! LOL
  8. Good luck Doc...got the chance to ride with you twice recently and it was fun...I am glad I got the chance. You are a good rider. Stay safe up in Detroit. Maybe we can ride again before the final send off. Would like to know more about your future plans.
  9. Glad you are okay. You are a good rider. Glad you had some good riders with you at the time to make her road worthy to get her home.
  10. Congrats, nice catch anyway!!! Haven't gotten a chance to get out yet this year. Why is it that deer are no where to be seen when bow season starts? By gun season, they are totally in hiding. Either that or they start sneaking up on you from behind and find you in the tree stand before you know they are there and you can't turn around to get a shot on them? One time I was over in the Cuyahoga Valley on the tow path and there were so many deer in a nearby field (of course it was not hunting season and it's protected lands) you could not count them all. My jaw just dropped.
  11. I have Virgin Mobile. Have had it a while now probably 1-1/2 years. It's a great cell phone carrier where there is service. Have to admit, it runs on the Sprint network so coverage can be sparse. You have to check to see if coverage is where you work and live and travel. Can be a pain if you don't have coverage where you frequent. I like the price. I get a lot of bang for the buck compared to what i had with Verizon. I have excellent coverage at home, all the bars (cell tower within a mile). Coverage seems to be the best way to gauge it. No contract plan is a plus with all the extras but check the coverage maps.
  12. finally a road rage that was hilarious and ends well....thanks for posting!!!
  13. Curious for me, I am new to motorcycle riding, not new to working on car rotors or brakes cause I have done it a lot, how do they just one day get bent? Did they get bumped or hit with something while sitting? Is this another term for warping from getting really hot?
  14. Brandon, I thought your tail light was flickering just a bit during the ride...meant to say something to you about that but forgot. Hope your voltage isn't dropping down or something. Maybe a loose connection?
  15. Nivin didn't seem as shook over this as Brandon. Nerves of steel. That would shake me up too. Glad it turned out alright. That would have ruined a great ride.
  16. Dave, Nice meeting you too. I had a great time minus my contact coming out of my eye on the ride back to Kensington. It got sucked into the visor on the inside of my helmet and it dried out there. I hated the ride back just for that alone b/c it was my dominant eye. The other thing that bothers me was the little stupid mishap I had. I will have to be more careful next time and pay more attention where I am turning. I will have to hit Pauly up for a sag adjustment. You might be right about this. The corners don't seem all that secure on the bike with it set like it is. Would be a good excuse for me to go down there anyway to meet Pauly. He is not far away. If you want an excuse too that is fine with me, you are welcome. You seem like you are a very experienced rider. Would love to do it again. Niven, As before, I had a great time riding again. You guys know how to have fun. Can't wait to see the videos. As far as that car today, I hope your pants weren't too soiled when you got home. That stuff scares me most....the other driver that doesn't see you or doesn't pay attention. Thanks again, you sure know how to pull the rides together. Hope your job takes you to good riding roads like we had today. Hope you get in another ride next year before leaving. Brandon, Nice meeting you too. You are a good rider and your experience shows. Thanks for riding. You kept right up with the best of them. Will have to ride again. I was glad to get home as I was getting cold. Riding with cold hands is no fun. You had to be cold getting home too. I went home and I hugged my wood stove....LOL.
  17. Post up a route. I might be able to do this...will know more tomorrow.
  18. Sorry, I am working Friday. Sounds like a great day compared to the last two weeks we've had. Enjoy the ride and ride a few miles for me.
  19. I bought mine off an ebay ad but did not buy it without seeing it first and then we decided (buyer and seller) to go outside ebay and settle the deal. He pulled the ad down and I bought it outside the ebay deal. We agreed on a price and it was done. Worked great for me since it was a local deal. I am skeptical of buying something like that without first seeing it or finding out a lot more about it from the seller.
  20. I love my 50" Samsung Plasma bought two years ago in this coming January. Don't do any gaming though. Movies and sports are a great picture...no blurring and bright, crisp pic. LED's have been coming on more strong since then. They were just getting popular then. Base it on your needs.
  21. He is definitely a gifted racer whether he goes on to 4 wheels to explore that or not. Thanks for the post, that was great to watch. Think he will be back in another form.
  22. I got out for an hour or so to ride about 42 miles before the rain started misting me. Headed back home. Temps dropped almost 10 degrees before getting back home. Not a bad ride though. Weather channel is talking snow accumulations early next week with that storm coming inland...UGH!!!
  23. I knew I forgot some roads b/c my mileage didn't match my bike mileage. Besides, I was somewhat all turned around on all the curves. Thanks Doc for posting. It was a nice route to ride.
  24. Doc, is this the route we took? I think I might have it wrong? http://goo.gl/maps/4z4Sk
