  1. I don't get it with my new cable package anymore!!!! AHHHH
  2. I meant stretching it. I love riding way too much to put the bike up. I already had a girl break up with me because i devoted more time to it than to her.
  3. I'd also like to point out that I'm not exactly sold on stretching it. I'm more interested in the process than the actual act of riding with the damn thing. Right now its 75/25 won't/will.
  4. Maybe eventually I'll work the squid out of myself. Thanks for the straightforward answer. Same process if I'm only doing 3-4" right? Also, did you fishplate and support the reattached section underneath?
  5. The nice thing about the Katana shock is that it's a direct swap that doesn't raise the rear end any. the GS rear shock is soft. My other options were off of an R6 (with a negligible difference) or a Katana 750 (way too stiff). An SV650 and 1000 shock both raise the tail about 3" and are still direct swaps.
  6. If anyone wants to check out a truly ridiculous GS500, google a guy named Jim Knopf.
  7. So to do a bolt on stretch, would i have to custom-fab or mill/ CNC one for a GS500? A stretched GS is something that I've only ever seen done a couple of other times.
  8. I think i would need to cut the number of teeth on the front sprocket in half to worry about keeping the front end down.
  9. I've already upgraded the rear shock with one from a Katana 600. Suspension was the only truly "bad" thing on a GS
  10. You guys are right, this should be good. But I'm as much interested in the process as actually doing it. If i can take the abuse to fine one good answer, then it'll be worth it in my book. Right now, the way I'm thinking its done is making a z- shaped cut in the swing arm, matching a 4" piece of a second swing arm, putting plugs of smaller pipe in each side, then tig weld, file, paint, and and add a longer chain and brake line.
  11. So i have an 08 GS500f. I am thinking about stretching it about 4", purely for aesthetic purposes. I'm at OSU and have friends in welding engineering, but I may take it elsewhere if need be. What's the "right" way to stretch a swing arm?
  12. One of my buddies in high school was addicted to Amp energy drinks. His mom had to take all of his money and wean him off of them very slowly. Good luck kicking the habit. When i quit chewing tobacco, I had to find something else to do that replaced it for me, So I started chewing gum because it reminded me of it. Try finding a healthy replacement for coffee!
  13. Oh, and I'm also going to go down a tooth on the front sprocket to get a little more out of the lower end of my powerband, thus slightly alleviating the lack of usable torque problem.
  14. Yeah, I've looked at both SM's and clip on's. They give about the same position as the clip on's. Rear sets will be the next purchase after I get some more hours at work. Gimbel, a German company, makes a pair for the GS. For the clip on's I'm looking at some Woodcraft adjustable ones.
  15. Final decision: I'm keeping the GS. I've got a Katana 600 Rear Shock ordered (It's a direct drop in) to set the back end of the bike up a bit and stiffen it up. I'm also going to get some clip on handlebars to put myself more forward so i can actually use the windscreen (which I'm replacing with a double bubble). Basically, I'm making it a bit sportier and more comfortable by fitting it to my larger frame a bit better than the 5'6", 150 lb person it was designed for.
  16. Seriously, That woman is Dolores Umbridge from the Harry Potter movies.
  17. The football program and mens basketball program both bring in revenue after team expenses.
  18. The good news: as a student my tickets are a hell of a lot cheaper. I think ours are 50% off face value? Which is still expensive, but I love me some Buckeye Football.
  19. Looking at a bike as a woman, I sure as hell wouldn't ride that one. In response to the 650r, it's the same riding position I've been on with the GS and it's really not doing it for me.
  20. I'm going to have to be honest, aesthetics are something that i would like to look for in a bike and no offence to anyone on here, but i think those are ugly as sin. I know they're getting to be more popular and they're really comfortable, but i'm a single man and i don't think that would seal the deal with any of the ladytypes who're into motorcycles.
  21. I'm not trying to drag, or go 200 mph. I'm trying to get more than 29.5 ft/lbs of torque that i can actually use on the street.
  22. “The bottom line is, the hypocrisy there is off the charts. A president who supports the taking of 4,000 little lives every day has lost all credibility when it comes to protecting the innocent, especially children.” - Rep. (R, AZ) Trent Franks
  23. I think up until '02 it was the GS500e, which was naked. Now what's the kind of comfort i could find on something like an R6 or GSX-R 600 or 750 or something. something i still dont like about the gs is that it is a starter bike and is underpowered in my opinion.
