The same way air still cools the radiator after passing through an A/C condenser, transmission cooler, P/S cooler, fuel cooler, etc. It is not optimum but unless your front end is 8' x 10' you eventually have to stack stuff. From the factory my car has an oil cooler in front of the condenser in front of the radiator. I added an intercooler in front of that and have not had any problems. Being that the intercooler is in front, it gets the coolest air and warms as it passes through each layer. My guess is the pics you have seen have the intercooler in front of the condenser. You can rarely see the radiator from the front on modern cars.
