  1. My wife is the same way. I have been riding for a bit and we both took the course last year. She had never been on a motorcycle before and passed with flying colors. She has only been out a few times with me and isn't overly interested in riding. I don't push the issue and just offer up a ride once in a while. The course reinforced what I had learned through experience over the years. The learning curve would have been a lot less had I taken the course at the beginning rather than 10 years down the road....

  3. I'm outside the Columbus area too I will be bringing them on Friday so if there is some kind of meetup, I will have them. I'll also be bringing them on Saturday to the ride.
  4. Not sure on any differences between the two. Other than the tuner, they seem to be the same. I have had mine for a couple years now and they pair seamlessly with each other. My buddy and I have done several long trips and tested out the distance on the highway and it is plenty far. I have paired it with my buddy's Sena unit and my cell phone. I used my phone for music and used the Sena unit to control it. When you push the giant knob, it connects to the other Sena unit and cuts out the music. When you are done talking, you push the giant knob again and it returns you to your music. You rotate the knob for volume and push in/rotate at the same time to change tracks. Very user friendly unit. It says Korea on the label. The boom mic is attached directly to the unit installed on my full face helmet and I have had no trouble with it. The boom mic for the Sena has a little triangle on it to identify which way it needs to face. If you turn it around or point it up or down, you can't hear the other person talking. This works out great to minimize/nearly eliminate the wind noise. I don't think I can say enough great things about the Sena... You can also have up to (4) units paired at the same time, if you so choose.
  5. Both bikes are coming, my buddy will be riding the VFR. I have been working on getting him to sell his old Suzuki 750 and into something a little more sport oriented. The VFR is a great salesman, that's for sure.
  6. Just watch out for the buffalo! Black Hills Buffalo
  7. Got your payment. Thanks!
  8. I started running the T6 in my 1000rr this season and have always ran the Rotella T 15w40 in all of my previous bikes. Also have the 15w40 in my 7.3L F350. No complaints here.
  9. Welcome! I love the look of the speed triple.
  10. Sounds good guys, I'll let you know. I assume you are talking about the grey t-shirt, not the girls tank top.
  11. I love my Sena SMH10 and it has proven its worth as a comm system on several long trips. Battery life is great and the speakers don't sound half bad. I can't comment on the tuner as the 10 doesn't have it, but I usually bluetooth it to my phone and listen to downloaded music or connect to Sirius. Also have connected it to my Zumo and listen to music and have turn by turn nav. You can control the volume and change songs using the Sena when it is connected by bluetooth. My phone stays in my pocket and I control everything with the Sena unit.

I have had this for almost a year now and played around with it a bit. It shoots pretty decent video and I like that it has an external mic hookup. Also comes with a remote, so you can mount it out of reach on your bike and still start/stop recording when you want. It does beep when you start/stop recording, but it is still a guessing game at speed as you can't hear it... http://youtu.be/UBhm2JwwEvg
  14. At least it is getting warmer out and the liner won't be needed as often. I just checked mine and they are okay (I guess). Thanks for the heads up.

  16. I was just there today on my VFR, cool place to stop and check out.
  17. No worries Mj, I haven't tried it on..... yet.... Don't mind the hair, I got 150 miles in on the VFR and came home to find these sitting on the front porch! 9 days and counting :smilieRR:
  18. I agree with Jester. Here's mine loaded down for a trip my buddy and I did out to the Black Hills.
  19. Wife and I went to the range for a short time today. She had a good time with the XD9 Subcompact and I put a few down range with my XDs. I gave her a crack at the XDs and she was pretty surprised at how easy such a small frame .45 was to shoot.
  20. One of the best bikes I have owned for 2up riding! Wife and I did a few longer trips (one to Orlando and back) when I owned mine. I loved that bike when she wanted to tag along.
  21. Do you have an '05 or '09 SV? I have an '06 VFR and it is setup with Heli-bars, lowering pegs, Sargent seat and Givi windscreen. It is a very comfortable bike for me, but I'm on the fence on keeping vs. selling. My wife has ridden it a few times, but I'm not sure it will see much use as my CBR1000 is crazy fun, albeit a bit less comfy and she isn't really interested in traveling on the VFR, which is what it is setup for... In order to cover any distance on a sportbike, you really have to focus on keeping your body in a comfortable riding position. If you really enjoy the SV, it may be worth looking into adjusting your riding position a bit and seeing if you can find a happy medium. The VFR is a wonderful SPORT touring type bike and mine has seen thousands of highway miles and a few week long trips. It has enough weight to make it into the touring class, but light enough to really crank around in the twisties. Like Bad said, the weight is negligible when you are rolling. I had a CBR 600 F4i and you can feel the weight difference between the two, but it's not a huge deal. All that being said, the VFR is a great bike and that is exactly why I'm conflicted on keeping or selling....
