  1. You guys can do whatever you want, this idiot can waste a bunch of money putting a rotary in a Corvette (a combination he admits doesn’t work well), I’ll just stick with nice toys I can play with as opposed to some troublesome janky shit.
  2. on a $150 part, with a $200 core charge, they are for sure getting a part back.

Duh. I’m not that dumb Gerg. A lot of core charges are $10-20, or I typically buy new when I can and those typically don’t have core charges anyway.

  3. The funny thing is, he has a REALLY low pain tolerance. Has always been that way. So much for that, at least right now haha. I forgot to mention, he still has some delirium from the drugs. Apparently, he's seeing animals in the room and shit.

Haha, I suppose that shit will take a little time to clear out of his system since he was on it awhile. You’d know better then me, but if you want to ask him about something he has a low tolerance for, it’s my driving lol.

  4. He described it as painful. Yea.

Update for today: He's up and walking! Trying to eat but the gag reflex is still pretty awful, so having trouble putting solid things down but can handle liquids no problem. They're thinking about releasing him in the next few days, they think he's pretty close to able to just go straight home.

How about that for a fucking turnaround?

A conscious Anthony, is a fucking no nonsense Anthony. This is one of the main reasons we’re friends. I could only hope that myself in this situation would be the same way. Look forward to seeing him.

  5. No it will have worse....corvette show people.

    :lolguy::gabe:

A.K.A. older versions of grumpy Camaro guys.

Being both a Camaro and Corvette guy, it reminds me of having a Miata, I hated the stereotypical owners. So fucking lame. I like to clean mine, but I enjoy getting them dirty too because it means I’m actually having fun with them.

  6. I hope “doing the rear” just means you bought new leaf springs, shackles, bolts, u-bolts, and you’re just going to remove it with a sawzall.

And I thought I was sweating all weekend building an engine, I’m sure you took a beating yourself. Sure felt more like summer then spring.

  7. Either you enjoy building stuff, or you enjoy what you get to do with it when you get it done. For me personally I love cars, but I fix them and work on them everyday. Kind of a big contradiction to that part of it being fun anymore. However I still really enjoy a good drive, or race, and those things I don't get to do everyday. Those aspects of it remain fun. I do get some enjoyment out of helping other get their projects finished, but even that feels like a job most of the time.

It's tough, I spent all weekend putting an engine in my Corvette. I really didn't want to, but I will have fun driving it. My Camaro was great fun years ago, and I've just held onto it. Kind of feel like maybe we're in the same boat car wise when I think about that. If I'd find ways to go out and use it I'd love it a lot more. I built that car when most of my activities with it were illegal, and now that I try to keep myself out of trouble it doesn't do much.

oh well, random thoughts. Decide what part makes you happy and do more of it. If it's the journey of a project and then selling it to do it again, or the joy in playing with it at the end. Honestly just sounds like you're bored. I need a new hobby other then cars too.

  8. You know when I come across GM’s riveted on ball joints, a chisel bit in my air hammer knocks the heads right off, then switching to a punch bit I drive them out. Takes all of 5-10 minutes. Of course if you have a weak air hammer you’ll be there all day. I have pickle forks for my air hammer too and have never had ball joints I can’t get apart.

Cheap tools and weak air supplies won’t get you anywhere in these situations. Have fun beating on it.

  9. I just saw some videos recently of how Amazon was starting to use old malls as fulfillment centers. I still enjoy walking through the mall with my wife and hate to see them close, but this is much better then them sitting empty and such a fitting use for them.
  10. It honestly surprises me the stock engines gave up that easily, always seemed fairly durable, I guess that’s not the case when tracked hard.

Interesting swap, not sure why I like it, but it’s cool. I even like the vinyl work, I lol’d.

  11. Things expand and seal up better when hot, certainly could be rings. Hard to say without tearing it down at this point. You’ve proven a mechanical issue with cylinder 1, unless you just want to put an engine in it all you can do is pop the piston out and look.
  12. I just so happen to have a bunch of Corvette accessories I could part with for a few bucks. Stock P/S pump, brackets, stock balancer (looks good and I already have a nice one for my supercharger), ect. Don’t really want to give up my spare alternator, but I’ll never use most of this stuff if you’re interested. I don’t suspect it’s worth much anyway.
  13. I still maintain that HP Tuners is a hilarious ripoff. We are close to accessible open source tuning for GM ECU's, and they will pretty much instantly be irrelevant at that point.

Open source? Maybe on older stuff, newer GM (like Global B) it isn’t going to happen. There are a few things out there already but lacks the abilities of HPTuners software. I personally don’t mind spending a few bucks because TunerCats and LS1edit suck. EFILive isn’t bad on the older stuff but they’ve fallen behind on newer stuff, and I’ve run into situations where it wouldn’t tune something they said it would. I used to love EFILive, and their tuning software is easy to navigate, but the scanner sucks, support is lame, and doesn’t work nearly as well as HPTuners when you get into multiple vehicle platforms.

HPTuners is one of a few tuning new L5P Duramaxes, and the only one to break the 2019 ZR1 so far. They stay on top of it, don’t think you’ll see them go away any time soon. Open source or simpler aftermarket options will hurt their business but as for GM tuning they’ll be the one to survive.

  14. Gen 3 4.8, 99 i think, DBC, wanted to cut the harness down to just the bare minimum to run in a manual transmission application.

The Terminator X is incredible value for everything that you get, which is why I have been considering it.

Yeah that should be a 411 PCM. Granted I’ve been playing with this stuff a long time and already have HPTuners and EFILive so maybe I’m biased, but if you’ve already got a stock harness and PCM you won’t have really any cost in it, just time. It’s hard to get beyond the limits of the stock computer anyway.
