  1. With that 60' it sounds like the car runs fine. Leave the car alone, enjoy it for what it is and focus on the Firechicken. I have two cars I'm always wanting to mod, trust me, don't do a damn thing to the GTO.

    Baby time!!!

    good stuff congratulations
  3. Well, I've been rolling the idea around since high school, obviously after vocational school for electrical tech I stopped going to school. I have had various 1 or 2 day classes related to specific automotive functions, but my current job as an automotive technician has been learned entirely on the job, and through lots of headache. I would consider myself very proficient as a technician and I like most of the job. As my back issues get worse, and I've pretty much reached the top of working as a factory trained tech, I am really thinking of doing something that will take me farther in life. If I was to start pursuing a different career, something with much more potential, how would some of you that have already done it go about it? I am interested in the judicial system. It seems the obvious choice is to be an attorney, but what else is there? My wife is working on that very same thing as I type this, but I doubt that going to Columbus State's transfer program, getting an associate's degree, and now starting at Franklin is the only way to do that. Obviously I'm at square one, trying to figure out if this is even a path I want to travel. My high school transcript says 2.0, and thats a 0 GPA as a freshman, and a 4.0 my senior year. I had a hard time in high school, never liked it, and is why I never pursued anything after it. Maybe at 33 I'm adult enough to get through it. Thoughts and ideas feel free to share them, lets just keep this mostly on topic.

    Baby time!!!

The whole process is a trip. A big day for you, hope all goes well for you guys.
  5. A stock camaro isn't much of a muscle car either. I guess it depends on your definition. To me "muscle car" means a power to weight a little bit more than what is typical of the entry level v8 cars.

The whole "gun replicas" thing, just annoys the shit out of me. Didn't anybody play cowboys and indians when they were kids? or reinact some movie? ...oh wait I forgot that's not politically correct anymore either. I had fake guns as a kid and none of them looked real, they were obviously squirt guns, or they had an orange platic thing on the end of the barrel. I think so much of this could be solved by parents raising their own kids, and minding their own bussiness. If you can't bring your kid up and teach them how to live and stay out of trouble, then your kids will get into trouble regardless of how many stupid ass laws get passed, stop trying to control everybody. I'd be more then happy if parents went to jail for their kid's actions, and you know what? I'd never have to go because my daughter knows how to act.
  7. Worked on my boss's new SS, auto though, and its a really nice car. For anyone who's driven a G8 the SS is very similar, obviously. Nicer interior then a G8 in my opinion, and drives nice with decent power for cruising and passing. Though I certainly would not call it a muscle car, it's a little low on the power to weight ratio for that.
  8. Had a blast today running with the top couple Miatas, I don't feel bad with a 41.7 when I have half the car.
  9. The 2.0L is the same series of engine, and is just fine. Sorry I was thinking Miata when I said 1.8. If the fluid is clean in an auto car and shifts good I wouldn't worry too much about it, as they were decent too. Mazda recommended a trans fluid drain and fill every 30k iirc, and if that gets done the transmissions were not problematic. If someone has done the maintenance the cars rust away before the drivetrain has issues, and rust is easy to spot.
  10. Find an older Mazda Protégé. The 1.8 engine in those are bulletproof. They're typically on the cheaper side of a Honda because Mazda's weren't as popular. Most Mazdas that weren't built by Ford are great cars.
  11. I've "tuned" most of the shit I've had in the past 10 years or so, none of it hurt anything but I never told anyone either. Kind of feel bad for whoever bought my 2010 Silverado though, I disabled everything that cut the throttle and voided the warranty. Didn't tell them that when traded it.
  12. I might have a set of those at home if you're interested. Otherwise anyplace that sells barter market torque arms typically sells the bolts separate. But you are right, they never used gold bolts on the torque arm.
  13. While a stiffer tire that can be difficult to mount, it will mount in place of a standard non-runflat tire without issue.
  14. its August 3rd, how'd you forget?
  15. Isn't any place I've autocrossed quite as nice as the kart track, it is hellacool.
  16. I'm not a fan of "mechanic in a can", but on some beater that isn't worth throwing a bunch of money at then who cares. Try it if you want, just don't be surprised if it "seals" up some stuff that wasn't supposed to be sealed.
  17. Bolts for what? Chances of our system showing them discontinued is very possible even if they still make them (I know its stupid, run into issues a lot on stuff older then when they implemented this parts catalog around 2000, an issue you can have at any dealer), if you can find a part number it would give you better odds of finding it. You can call Lash Chevrolet's parts department and tell them Scott told you to call and see what they can do.
  18. Buckeye Miata Club, no need to pre-register.
  19. Yes! Not impossible, but certainly not common on those. It is just a Malibu, drop that shit like a bad habit. Trust me when I say those old ones are shit.
  20. Not sure why people just jump to conclusions, head gasket, new engine, why don't you have someone figure out what's actually wrong with it. Is there coolant in the oil? Is the coolant running out somewhere else? I would find it hard to justify going through the hassle of swapping the engine unless it's totally fucked.
  21. Doing some fluids today on my lunch break, will be ready for sunday.
  22. You should just save your pennys for this http://www.tremec.com/menu.php?m=105 Buying used can cost just as much, at least with this it'll be good to go.
  23. Laser alignment tool is nice but almost never needed. The only thing that typically gets out of alignment is the power steering pump because the pulley is pressed on and therefore somewhat adjustable.
  24. Take both belts off and see if it goes away. My A/C pulleys chirp with the belt on, no big deal usually.
  25. The factory wide band O2 sensor causes funny things like that, wasn't uncommon to see when I worked at Mazda. Unplug it and see if it goes away. Are you out of warranty?
