Your boss should be far more understanding about this.

He certainly is understanding... the problem, our one capable guy in Columbus just quit unexpectedly and that leaves the ball rolling into my court.  I could leave for a week but the amount of work that would pile up would leave me buried and I have a week long trip to Calgary with my wife and brother/sister-in laws that I couldn't do if I took this trip off too.

    Hello folks,

I'm planning on coming down to do my first trackday at your Mid-Ohio raceway the weekend of August 31st & Sept. 1st, 2019 weekend!!!

Since it will be my first time at Mid-Ohio, I shall be in NOVICE of course, but I hope after the first session or few, they will move me up to Intermediate! (I've done 23 trackdays with STT here in Michigan at Grattan & Gingerman raceways in the past) :)

I will arrive at the track about 1PM that Saturday, just in time to register. I will be camping overnight and will have Corona's to drink!

Looking forward to seeing maybe a few of you again, that I've met during the Epic Ohio rides in years past and meeting afew that I haven't!

    :D

Awesome man!  Just be careful,  MidOhio can fill up in advance and I'd hate to see you come all that way and not get a spot.  You should call in advance and schedule it to make sure you get the spot.

I'm starting the process to become an MSF trainer for the West Virginia program.

Two years ago I attended the Advanced Riders Course in Marietta in the Ohio program. At the time and each Spring since then the Motorcycle Ohio program has sent mail and or emails to ask if I'd consider becoming an instructor. I live in WV and so I thought I'd ask folks in the WV program. Turns out they were interested and now I'm in the beginning of getting into the program.

So, I'm asking for any insight that other instructors on here would care to share.

Also, I heard in that 2017 ARC session that the MotorcycleOhio program was departing from the MSF approach to use a curriculum that was developed in some other state - WI, or maybe MT. Could somebody involved in the MotorcycleOhio program explain what is different in the new approach?

    Thanks,

    Chris

The class is much more real life riding orientated. Exercices such as  Tight turns from a stop, interacting with traffic, U-Turn only to the left (not the figure 8 box)... Lane changing, etc.

  4. Little over 2 Weeks away from the start of the race season!

  6. if you are in intercomm mode its always Vox, but you can set it up to be PTT.

I think tim is saying if you are just connecting to one other person you can connect and disconnect to them by the press of a button so you can choose when you want to be heard or not.

Have you guys rode with 3+ folks connected. As in let’s say rider A-B-C-D /

    1) does it matter if the chain connection has to be in the proper order of riding? As is let’s say rider a-b is connected, b-c then c-d / if rider b decided to drop all the way back and possible out of range from Rider A , the whole chain gets broken up right? ( what a freaking confusing question to frame :( )

    2) does the multi connections get disconnected when gap increases or twisty roads etc and fall out of range , and then you have to sort of start over by fiddling with it?

Yes, Nivin, I have tons of experience with big group intercomms.

Answer is Yes...   and once you break the chain, it can be a pain to reconnect the chain without restarting the whole process.  Using the SENA app helps with group chat as long as the leader knows what he is doing.  If you break the chain, the leader can stop the whole conversation and restart the group convo through the APP and it usually works okay (provided everyone is back within range)   ---- This is why the 30K is much better.  It utilizes a new mesh technology (star topology) where everyone is connected to everyone and if you get disconnected, everyone else remains connected and once the user who got out of range comes back within range, he can autoconnect back into the conversation.   Only downside is that everyone has to have the 30K for this technology to work.   A lot of other communication systems already utilize the mesh technology. ....and my big complaint is trying to connect a SENA 30K to SENA 20S through the old school bluetooth technology because the 20S app won't pick up any 30K's....

There may have been a firmware update over the winter to fix this, I haven't checked...

I really like my RST gloves. $70, have held up to all kinds of abuse and were really comfortable from the minute I put them on the first time.

I love my RST Gloves as well.  Super well constructed, comfortable out of the box and have handled quite a few OMRL crashes.

They are gauntlet gloves though so not sure if that's what you're looking for.  They were $70 through RD last year.

  9. I think the SENA 20S is the go to at this time.  I have the 30K *upgrade from the 20S* but I've heard some people having issues with it, although I have not.

30K went with an additional second comm technology that isn't daisy chain technology but an additional mesh/star topology (but only works with other 30K users).

Connecting you and your wife together is rather simple, but can get more difficult as you add more and more people.
