  1. Hopefully I can get a few riders from a new michigan group Ive made friends with this season, to come down with me! Its rare though to find folks near me that wanna do like 783 miles in one day! lol
  2. I vote for Sept. 9th, but . . . Sept. 16th would also work!
  3. Hi, Just wondering if any of you folks will be at Gingerman raceway this coming weekend? I'll be there, Red Ninja 650R with givi luggage brackets on back, in Novice! Say hi if you recognize me . . .
  4. Interested again, but wont know 100% sure until much closer to that October date! (Dunno if GF will be 2UP *her work schedule is iffy), or if I will be riding SOLO (I hope so, so I can go fast lol) We'll have to wait n see . . .
  5. FYI, Yamaha will there with many DEMO BIKES!!! FZ-09, FZ-10, R1S, R1, New R6, etc.
  6. Hello, I will be at Grattan next weekend. Driving down Friday night. Still in Novice. I plan on pitting on the Top, Grass as close as possible to the Novice classroom & Bathrooms! Will anyone from here happen to be there and in Novice??? I will be Red Ninja 650R, White Scorpion suit, White Scorpion Helmet, White Jeep Liberty parked with a Uhaul trailer. Stop by and say Hi. I will have Corona's and Lime in the cooler after 5pm!
  7. Yea, checked and saw "Ride canceled" last night, so went to bed at my normal time. Then this morning I woke up at 8am... read several of ya were still gonna go and said rain wasnt more than like 30% chance. I looked at the USA radar and judging from it, yep. I just would NOT have time to hurry up get ready, ride all the way down to meet yall at that point! 5.5 hours to Mcconellsville met spot for me! well there is always next time. So instead I rode to go see a movie. Then met a friend of mine up at Ducati Detroit after. I got to Demo ride a new 2017 Multistrada 950! Nice bike, just need to demo it 2UP to get my GFs approval. lol Then on the way home I GOT FUCKING DUMPED ON! Damn Michigan weather! Wasnt supposed to rain at all what so ever here, but did and I was WITHOUT my rain gear! lol Least my Phone and valuables stayed dry! P.S. My Bridgestone T30 EVOs handled Great in the rain. Highway speeds up to 100 mph, slow city stuff, etc. Hopefully see yall on the next ride . . .
  8. I forgot about the T-shirt online ordering weeks ago, but if Derek still happens to have one XL size with him I will buy it on the spot with Cash and throw it on!
  9. Well I'm still IN* for saturday or sunday (if it gets moved). I've been spamming the OP Thread/advertising this Ride all over several Michigan Moto-Facebook closed groups and such. So far there is only ONE guy that said they are very interested in coming down for this Ride! He said hes likely going to come down Friday and get a Hotel and see all us Saturday morning at the meet spot! 50/50%, I never met the guy, hopefully hes not a serial killer! I however, might be either meeting up with the early ass Wooster met group... OR sleep in few more Hours then leave my house at 5am and slab it down to the McConnelsville met by 11am! Either way I seem to be the only damn one with the Ballz to cram all these Miles and Hours within one day of Riding!
  10. heres an old pic of BOTH my bikes years ago! in reference to my above post ^^
  11. I will add one thing from my experience from going from a Ninja 250R to 650R. 250R was much more agile, but also had a much lower Center of Gravity! 650R only weighs like 50lbs more, but that weight is felt due to the higher center of gravity. I noticed it the first time I rode the 650R and wasnt sure I liked it, but after 40 miles I got used to it and loved it. pushing both bikes around, no doubt the 250R was "tiny" lower and lighter than the 650R, but nothing like a 900 lbs Goldwing! LOL
  12. Hello, Gratz on getting your first bike and welcome to the world of 2 wheels! I started on a brand new 2009 Ninja 250R. Loved that bike and wish I still had it. I sold it due to my GF (back then never knew she would LOVE to ride 2UP on the back with me). So enter my 2009 Ninja 650R. (bought brand new in 2010) . I researched alot for months and I went to many many DEMO DAYS here in Michigan and Demo Rode lots of different bikes! The Ninja 650R fit my budget, Insurance cost and it was 2UP friendly with it having that "ugly" (said by the haters) Big Banana Seat! I used to weigh 170lbs, 180 with full gear on. These days I weigh 215/225 fully geared! I'm also 5'9" 31" inseam and can flatfoot my bike. no lowered suspension here! My old Ninja 650R pulls my weight just fine, even with 43,000 miles! Old Betsy still keeps me happy enuff NOT to sell her. To each's own. If I had more money to afford a 2nd bike, etc, sure I would have a Big Touring Concours-14ABS just for 2up riding and Trackday only bike. But the 650R does it all. If your taller than me, a Versys 650/1000LT might be a more roomy for ya! There isnt much difference for sportbikes using the common "standard foot peg position". If you need more "leg room" then a Cruiser style bike will have those forward foot pegs, giving you more room. But they will scrape easy when you try to drop around a corner!
  13. What ever gear you buy for CE certified protection, when it comes to budget minded Rain Gear, TOURMASTER gets my approval. I've ridden in some very shitty and very cold stuff in my earlier riding years and my Tourmaster rain gear kept me dry and blocks the wind too. And if you will be riding all day on a Cold day (above 33F) without any Rain. You can simply use it as another layer to block the wind on those Cold rides to increase the warmth for your body with what ever gear you wear underneath.
  14. *Maybe as of now. Wont know if 100% until like 1-2 days prior! Hmmm 201 miles 3 hours 34 mins. I'd have to leave my house at like 3:15am.
  15. Yea Greycat is busy doing family stuff each weekend for the month of May. Hes got a toyhauler now, fixed his YFZ-450 dirt bike, 4x4 atv to take his family camping n off-roading! I dont think anyone else from Michigan will be joining me down to the May epic ohio ride, but I'm hopeful. Yea, hopefully you can make it out for the ride and we can ride some!
  16. Mike (R1 guy) has already told me he wont be able to attend this years Epic May ride! S1000 rider? What person you talking about, I'm not sure what rider your talking about Niv? Yea Michigan sucks in terms of "lots of twisty twisty roads", but makes up for it for Scenic things up north and many other places! My state is great for Cruiser Motorcycles! Not really any good "Clubs" that would be the Ideal "fit" for me here in Michigan! There are 3-4 Sport Touring types of clubs in here that are good and active, but I dont have the type of Job and lifestyle that fits with me being able to take a bunch of Epic long trips during each year, etc! Sportbike clubs here... A few that I know and knew of and was apart of have all gone belly-up for the most part. MSTA :Michigan Squad. Had some drama and something like 200-225 member QUIT, then formed their own new Club. The "MSTR" aka Michigan Sport Touring Riders. http://mstriders.com/
  17. Yea I attended a meeting of theirs and afew of their Sunday morning breakfast group rides last year. Not quite able to attend any of their long distance trips. Cool folks though, just wish I could attend alot of their trips!
  18. I'm pretty sure I will be riding down solo again! (GF working like crazy hours with her job short staffed) Win for me! Man May 20th cannot get here fast enuff! Ordered and received that MRA X-screen touring(clear) add-on. (Joe had one on his Yamaha during the October Deals Gap trip). Cant wait to test it out. Soon as the temps warm up some and this damn rain stops!!! New battery is sitting next to me waiting to go into the bike. Hopefully I get alot of riding time and miles in long before the Ohio ride comes, to see if that the problem with my bike comes back. Hopefully NOT! heh I've joined several facebook riding groups and I'm overall trying to find more folks to ride with, maybe its only me coming down from Michigan, maybe more? heh
  19. Hi, I cannot speak for a 3rd gen 2012-2016 Ninja 650, as I have a 2009 2nd gen, but Yes the cat is built into the stock muffler! I still have the stock system on my bike, but I have been looking and thinking of getting either a Full Delkevic system or a slip-on from "Scorpion" (another UK exhaust company.) Scorpion slip-on exhaust for my 2009 is like $386 SS or $459 for CF. They claim they NEVER need repacking, etc! 2 Bros: has been known to fall apart with their CF pipes at the rivets, need repacking after 1,000-5,000 miles, etc.
  20. I've been getting quotes and looking to maybe switch companies again. I found out about Auto-Owners through a local place that was Listed as a "Progressive Insurance" office. So far everything has been close to within $10-35 bucks of eachother here in the very over priced Michigan state! Anyhow I thought I heard someone or read somewhere on this forum that some of you Ohio guys have had this insurance in the past?
  21. Hi guys, Have any of you had or have Auto-Owners Insurance for your home/auto/motorcycle? http://www.auto-owners.com/ What do you think of it?
  22. Thanks for making and posting this video guys! It is sad for me to say that here in michigan the only "group riding" that happens is at either Grattan or Gingerman trackdays! "where is everyone" is what I say when I look back at all the ppl I met years ago that I never see anymore out riding, etc! I have to ride 400 MILES to a different state just to find a group of sport riders to ride with! lol I'm sooo looking forward to coming out for this years ride and any other ohio rides I can attend!!!
  23. IN* (unless life throws me a curve ball) Probably I'll be in the MEDIUM GROUP again. (or maybe HATE GROUP)
