As much as I'd love to see all you knuckleheads, and get the free trackday I earned... I'm going to have to bow out. Major thanks to @blue03636 for prepping his bike for me, but I'm not going to risk MidOh with any moisture on a bike I'm not familiar with. You guys that do go, ride safe, and hopefully I'll have a new bike next season to play with ya'll on. The SV will be going back to street-only duty in 2018.

You did, and you're a better man for it! But seriously, I appreciate the fact you even offered -- even if I don't use it. You're good people.

I'd be happy to throw you some cheddar, shake it down for you, and return it with a full tank of 93 (or whatever you prefer).
-
If it's mechanically sound , I don't really care what it looks like.
-
Plans have changed -- I doubt I'll be making this unless someone wants to loan/rent me a bike.

Manual controls << ABS alone << Six-axis IMU systems << Future?
-
Yep. Was told even the HiFlo filters are no longer acceptable after tech-ing in on 9/11 at MidOh.

Unless you're a WSBK or MotoGP-level rider, I'd trust a computer designed by vehicle dynamics professionals with many hours of track testing, over my right hand when it comes to braking. But that's just my personal opinion. I've never had a bike with ABS, but I consider it a feature rather than a detriment to improving safety and lap times.

I know where there's an SV1000 for sale... with track fairings even, and @Tonik could look at it on his way home from work. Jussayin'

Let's Play: "Name That Tire Wear Issue!"
Trackbikez replied to Limitedslip7's topic in Track is Crack
What pressure does Pirelli recommend you run the SC1s and SC2s at? Depending on whether you deviate high or low, their recommendation would be a good baseline to gauge if you're running too much or too little pressure. I'm on Q3s and was told to run them @ 30/30, or 31/31 hot - I start at 30/30 cold, let air out after session 1, hit it hard for session 2, and maybe have to readjust 1 or 2 more psi down until I'm good the rest of the day. But Q3s are "street" tires and I don't run warmers. I typically don't get tears at MidOh when I do it like that. -

Given the size of that patch, I'm going with hot tear. UNDER-inflation, you need MORE air. https://lifeatlean.com/motorcycle-tyre-wear-guide/ -

Nice job @DerekClouser on keeping it upright for as long as you did. I stopped by and chatted with a few of you, though I'm not sure how many realized who I was since I have a tendency to not introduce myself and then ghost. Always nice running into @TimTheAzn, and I hadn't seen @Jester_ is awhile, since he actually runs more tracks than just MidOhio -

YMMV, but I target arrival no later than 7:30AM. It all depends on how much you need to do to unpack. I'm a minimalist - No canopy, no generator, bike is already fueled up and ready to roll. Arrive, Park, Unload Bike, Pay, Tech, Say hi to folks, Riders Meeting, Suit up. A few of the Intermediate guys suit up before the Riders Meeting in case it runs long and they get the "5 minute call" that they're on track right after the meeting is over. Novice guys typically head to classroom right after the riders meeting, but have plenty of time to suit up after class while I/A is out on the track. -

If the weather is nice, I'll be there as a walk-up. Maybe stay for the 22nd too. -

You're going to want to put a dab of RTV on the oil cap, filter, and drain plug if you're not going to wire them. That'll pass for I. Personally, I'd put a dab on the front caliper bolts and pad pin on each side too, but that's just me. Also, duct tape your wheel weights down to the rim. And just so it's all here http://www.midohio.com/mid-ohio-courses/51-uncategorised/403-requirements -

No, not for novice -- I and A have to have them and they cant be the ones "sewn into the suit". If you're changing coolant, then you need a back protector too. -

Don't forget your back protectors... -
Good deal! I appreciate it. Turns out, I got roped into visiting my folks tomorrow, so I'll just do it myself while I'm down there (and have to carefully not scratch my rims with my ol' mans tools) Medina will be a shorter trip in the future.
-
Bringing this back from the dead. My usual $20/tire guy is busy. Are there any people near the North Ridgeville area that can swap a front and rear Q3 for a reasonable price? Preferable if the setup won't mar the rims.

Rain scared me away for Monday. Good luck to those going Monday and Tuesday, I hope it stays dry for you!

Well now I want to go on the 5th, if all the cool kids are going then...
