It was such a pleasant surprise to meet you guys there. I was hoping to scratch the itch away by just seeing bikes in person the price tags  the actual weight height etc which in reality is usually worse than on paper figures & stats. And then ran across you guys and hanging out and talking bikes making me miss riding even more. Hopefully I don’t succumb to temptation again.

You know we love you, when you're ready, we'll be here!

    nsr50?

I think those had a high mount exhaust, can't find where it is on Marc's.  Still could be a 50 though.   Whatever it is, amazing to see a world champ on 300 hp bikes getting some fun out of running a little one.

Looking to get Isaac onto the race track this season. He has the motorcycle itch and I plan to help him scratch it. He is currently studying for his temporary permit, then he will take the Ohio Basic Rider Course. Pending on his enthusiasm for riding (read: motivation and attitude), I plan on helping him settle into a capable starter bike this spring.

If you let us know when Issac is going to Mid-O, I'm sure some of us more regular attendees, if not coaches, would be happy to share a pit with him and whatnot.  Leave the coaching to the professionals of course, but I know the first time I went (by myself, didn't know anyone) it was an extra bit of nervewracking and seeing a friendly face waiting after your session is nice.

Looking at the classes, the ttr110  fits a class.   Can I put street tires on one of our ttr110s and try a race day? (or is that bike only for kids?)  I have a 1 piece textile firstgear suit.  Would this be suitable for a first time race day? If I like it, I can buy a leather suit and another bike.

As derek said, throw some street tires on it, BT45s are what most folks use, and run what ya brung.

What's a good budget number for getting the bike and gear needed for OMRL?

I got my 1999 XR ready to race for $950 three years ago.  The newer CRFs are better (fresher engines mostly I think) but I am competitive on mine.

I'd look to spend close to $1300-1800 for a newer CRF set up ready to go.  They are posted up for sale on the OMRL Facebook page pretty regularly.

Gear is a set of leathers, boots, gauntlet gloves, back protector, Snell rated helmet.  An Aerostitch or other real good textile gear has been acceptable for your first race.

  6. As always, I have an extreme desire to let other people run the absolute hell out of my XR.  You new to the track or racing?  My bike is 100% yours for the stock moto class.  I'll still race it in F3 and maybe supermoto so I won't be missing out on my fun, come on out folks, it's a hoot!

  7. Thanks @DerekClouser for the pretty graphic.  Great background image, that guy must be really cool.

    R4 6/15 & 6/16/19 G&J Kartway
    R5 6/29 & 6/30/19 PIRC
R6 7/27/19 G&J Kartway (daytime practice with a full racing schedule at night... starting at 9pm for racing)

R7 7/28/19 G&J Kartway (the normal race schedule)
    R8 8/10 & 8/11/19 Adkins Raceway
R9 9/8/19 Circleville Raceway Park cw
    R10 9/21 & 9/22/19 G&J Kartway
R11 10/6/19 Circleville Raceway Park ccw

The 7/27 & 7/28/19 G&J round 6 is a double header weekend... so if you plan on chasing the points you'll want to race both days... we'll be racing under the lights Saturday night 😁

For the PIRC round... the Saturday 6/29/19 is still being worked on... at the moment it's looking like we'll have motorcycle only practice from 4-8pm

Isabella has had timing belts that lasted longer than that Triumph engine. How dare you stick her in the corner while you praise that British POS. Have some respect and at least do it in another room.

I have new front suspension in the shopping cart.  Have a line on an Ohlins rear for a rider my weight.  She's going nowhere.

  9. Any more poems?

Called Triumph USA HQ in Georgia.  They are just as surprised as I am about it not being done.  That's right, still not done.  All the parts were in two weeks ago and part of the motor just made it into the bike.  Valve cover and clutch cover off.  No electronics hooked up.  The tires are probably dry rotted.  Weeee....  picture is from Tuesday.  Beyond overdue.

When I told the Triumph guy I took my 20 year old Duc out instead of the Daytona he laughed nervously.  At least I got that in!
