  1. I had my SMH10 on my Shoei Qwest with the wired mic and it worked amazing. When people would call me, they didn't even know I was on the bike. Now, I have upgraded to a Shoei Neotec, and switched to the boom mic. It took some getting used to, since I always run with a chin curtain, but some trial and error and now it works great. If you're using a full face though, wired mic is a way better setup IMO.

  2. We share a lot of the same after work roads when I get a chance to ride the bike...I usually carpool.Have you ever rode Dalzell or Germantown roads?

Not really, this has been my first summer of riding on that side of 77 very much. I used to ride 555, 550 towards Athens and back to my house on my way home from work. Now I have added some length to my evening routes since I got my FJR. 50 mile loops after work are now turning into 100-150 mile loops. Its great to work 5 days a week and still get 600-1000 miles in a week. This would have been my second consecutive 600 mile weekend, but I got sunburnt really bad Friday and had to take it easy.

  3. did my first service on the Street glide, new primary, trans, and crank case oil.  powder coated 90% of the chrome on it black.  added the dark custom cam and derby covers, added 10" LA Choppers twin peaks bars with Harley Magnum get-a-grip grips. internally wired the bars as well.  powder coated the exhaust flat black, and added bassani slip ons, decattted the head pipe.  upgraded the spears to 6.5" Polk speakers and a Rockford Fosgate PBR3004X amp.  got a Klockwerks 8.5" windshield coming, and gonna order some highway pegs for it soon.

Decatting the head pipe on those are fun lol. Did you cut open a flap and chisel the insides out?

  4. Were you riding with guys from the FJR Ramble?I was going to try to look for you,but I ran out of time.

Yeah rode by myself Friday cause I had stuff to do in the morning. Rode with Wayne and FJRFarrier and some others down to Clay, WV on Saturday. I rode around 600 miles this weekend.

  5. Well looks like this will be a NO GO due to my shitty ass job. I was informed this evening that Saturday morning we have to do a inventory. Should be able to be done by 11am but that's too late of a start for a trip like this. So ill try again some other weekend. And just hit some SEO roads this weekend.

Sorry to hear about working this weekend. Their will be better weekends...Atleast that's what I tell myself.

  6. The one good thing you can look forward to is someday when your kid(s) get older, you can introduce motorcycling to them and just maybe, they will share the same passion as you. I started my riding at a young age, cause I saw how much fun my dad was having, and man is it fun.

  7. Here is my tenative route. Sorry about all the way points it was the only way to force the routes I wanted. Thinking of just slabbin to the river, because I can ride ohio roads anytime. Haven't decided to do it clockwise or counter.

Man, that's a nice route. I'd love to go, but I've already commited to doing some rides at the FJR rally in Mineral Wells, WV this weekend.

  8. As often the case, a person's strength of opinion is inversely proportional to the amount if riding they do. When people state strong opinions on motorcycles, I often ask how many miles do they ride in a year. People that ride a lot tend to be more open minded than those that ride less.

When I see someone  bashing a certain brand or style of bike, I usually try to see why they have these opinions. If it's from experience, I see it as a valid claim, but usually it is just someone's ego. I am a firm believer that all bikes have potential to be great bikes, but it depends on how they are treated and maintained.

  9. I have a 2012 Softail Classic In the past 3 years I have had to replace the battery the clutch safety switch in the clutch lever both were under warranty. I have put 4 rear tires and 2 front tires on it replaced the brakes one time and have done a shit load of oil changes. So I’m talking to a guy that has and 14 year old Suzuki Intruder and he start telling me what a piece of junk Harleys are and in the 14 years he has owned his bike he has never had that much trouble with his bike. No big deal to me I have heard it all but I like old bikes so we walk out to look at his bike I happen to look at his mileage on the bike it only has 12,800 miles on it and its 14 years old it took everything I had not to laugh at him so I just walked away. By the way my 2012 only has 38,000 miles on it. You just have to love dumb asses like that. Rant over

It's sad that there are so many motorcycle owners who don't actually ride. I rode by myself this weekend because my buddies wanted to wash their bikes more than riding them.

  10. Wish I could go with you but I'm way too busy, so here's what I would do. I would take the 33 bypass down to 374 across from the Valero station. I would follow 374 all the way to 664. You will pass rock house which is a nice place to stop and take a break.

At 664 I would turn right and go to South Bloomingville and turn left on 56. I would take 56 over to 278 and turn left and take that into Nelsonville. I would turn right on old 33 in Nelsonville follow it to 78 and turn left. I would take 78 all the way to Malta which is right across the river from McConnelsville. Do not cross the river. Turn right at the light in Malta. That is N. Main St. Turn right again on third Street which becomes a Malta Hill Road and that will take you to 377. Turn left. Follow 377 past 555 and it becomes 550. At this point you could turn left on 555 which is the best section of that road in my opinion and follow it south and then head west but what I would do is pass it take 550 all the way to 33 between Athens and Nelsonville. At this point, you can turn right and take 33 back on the slab or go thru Athens and pick up 56 all the way back into Hocking. If you don't stop much you could probably do all of that in four hours. Explore the map in that area and you can make it a shorter jaunt if you want to, but those are some really fun clean roads without any big surprises.

I've rode this group of roads several times, and they are great roads with little traffic. 56 from Athens to Nelsonville has high water areas often, so be prepared for dirt/mud from the last big rain.
