$7,000 wouldn't be a bad price but since one or both will have to pay tax on it, they would only be saving a couple hundred bucks ($300). $6,500 would be a good deal as long as the buyer pays the tax for your buddies sake.
-
The morons spreading this around don't have all the FACTS! The rider crashed and *THEN* the bike hit the wall head on. I don't care what kind of bike you ride, when it hits a wall head on at any speed this shit will happen. If it was the real deal, Suzuki would be recalling them. Since it is just *ONE* case I don't think it's needed. Unlike the Kawasucki ZX-10 which has had several cracked front wheels and peoples frames splitting from wheelies. The only official recall is on the wheels. Otherwise...I have heard none of this from the Suzuki side of the house, period!
-
Just so you know, you can buy them brand new for cheaper than $1k off MSRP! It will sell easier if you dropped it more, esp since you will have to pay the added raffle, BS tax.
-
Amy, You need to get serious! In no way is the bike a daily driver....Rain/Snow below 30 degrees....right! Even if the Mustang did run you have no chance of using it as a daily driver. Come winter, you will be in the ditch before you even knew what happened. Over 300RWHP in the snow with a rear wheel drive car isn't going to work.....period. The sooner you get a real beater (Neon, Civic, Tempo,Cavalier, Sunturd, Focus, Escort, etc.) the sooner you will not worry about the car until it's ready. Don't rush it or you are just going to be yanking the motor for what....the FOURTH time! Hate to say it but you need some "wakeup" juice!
-
A pushrod motor isn't going to be any different. You still need a GOOD builder that knows what he is doing and a tune to match. Both will still give you the same problems when not done right. If you have a daily driver now, I don't see the problem? Just stay calm until you can get the funds and time to get the Mustang finished!
-
Amy, Is the Mustang paid for? If so then just keep it and buy a beater or daily driver to get you around to work and school. If it's not paid for, I think you should sell it and get what money you can out of it. Everyone knows you will NEVER get back what you have put into it. But that goes for any hobby, it's never an investment only a fix. Either way, you need to finish school and quit thinking about the speed stuff for a while until your finances are better....period. Keep the bike for that and just get something else reliable. Even if the stang was running, you couldn't drive it or the bike during the winter. It's not going to happen. From the sound of things, you are just going to get yourself in the same situation if you buy a WS6, T/A, LS-1...whatever. You are looking at over $8k on top of the price of the car to get the numbers you claim. If you are planning to mod a stock motor/rear-end car, you have another.....TIME BOMB on your hands. You can't just slap all these parts and money into a motor/car and expect it to work. You have to plan it out and only do mods that the car can handle. You really have to build it backwards. Make the engine/chassis handle the power before you have it so shit doesn't start breaking on you every time you drive it. Otherwise you will be just like the stang and it's only a matter of time before the weakest link breaks next! It's just one big cycle! Like I said before "GET RID OF YOUR DEPT, FINISH SCHOOL....THEN....START LOOKING FOR TOYS!"

$60 each???? If you can find any for that cheap, let me know. $200+ for BOTH is the norm. The only way you are getting them that cheap is if they are HOT or you make your own. -

I use PitBull and love them! Best stand you can buy for the money if you ask me. http://www.pit-bull.com/catalog/index.php?cPath=23 Just make sure you specify spools or not if you want them. I would also make sure you get the front stand that goes through the triple tree and not the bottom of the forks. I have seen several people drop bikes because of those. This is my setup: http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y128/GotBusa/PICT0026.jpg Josh -
Amy...see my post on the other site. Please....DO NOT buy anything else that is a money pit. Pay cash for a daily driver and FINISH your school/academy until you get MORE FUNDS to play with. Your LS-1 plan is just another ticking time bomb....IMO. Josh

Typical newbies run mid-high 12's on crap tracks with the 02+ Z's. The 01's usually run a little slower but not all, many 01 freaks out there. On a excellent track, I have seen bone stock Z06's 02+ run 11's @ 118mph! With a better than average driver, those cars fly! It's all track prep and driver! The new Z06's should run mid 11's @ 124mph+ when they start hitting the streets.

It's a Z06 that has been photochopped!

Cams are ***SOLD***! -
It really depends what you have in mind and how much you want to spend. You really don't get much from a 600cc bike with a full system. Maybe 5RWHP if your lucky($800-1300). Slips ons are good for 1-3RWHP if your even luckier($400-600). They are pretty much good for sound only and on the expensive system, you can save some weight. But by going with the titanum systems you are going to spend big bucks. For what a good system costs, you could have just bought a 1000cc bike. Your best bang for buck would be a 40-shot of nitrous if you want some increased power. Otherwise, from the list you have I would say: 1. Ackrapovic 2. Arrow 3. Devil 4. Arata I would check out the CBR forums ( http://600rr.org/ ) and see what will give you the sound you want and the best bang for buck. Good luck, Josh

Hate to say it but run....run away! It's a Harley sport bike. Shakes like hell. Short wheel base, doesn't ride or handle that good. Forget long rides. The main thing is PROBLEMS! Everyone I know that has one or had one, it spent more time in the shop than on the road. Don't get me wrong, they aren't all like that but everyone I have come in contact with HAS been like that.

If the chain broke while moving, you could have broke a case when the chain swung around. If that is the case, it will be a PITA to fix and very pricey. If it was just the chain and the pushrod that broke, it won't be bad. Hope the chain didn't do more damage than you know.

Exactly my point....he's making excuses!

Why don't you just take the MSF course and then you don't have a ridding test. You just show them the MSF certification card and they give you your license on the spot. You might still have to take the written test though....not sure on Ohio's BS rules. Also, you need more practice if you are getting nervous over a riding test.

Did I miss something? When did the K5 GSXR-1000 get 14whp more than a ZX-10R???? graemlins/popcorn.gif
-
He had the jump both times..... Your info on the 1000's is hilarious! Weight helps but they don't have as much power under the curve. With equal weight/skill riders on both, the Busa/12 will pull away every time. I think it's something to do with TORQUE! graemlins/thumb.gif

I will have to agree the GSXR's aren't comfortable before the K5 1000. Though that bike fits me perfect and I'm 6' 2"! R1 = MOTOGP????? Whatever that means?? CONGRAT's on the ZX-10 but you don't have to be riding like an idiot to get head shake. Many things to learn but you really never stop learning on a bike.......FUCKING CAGERS sometimes! Have fun, maybe I'll see you at SQ&L! Josh

May I suggest your first mod be a "STEERING DAMPNER!" That ZX-10 is a head shaking sun of a bitch. That is of course after the usual Helmet, Leathers, boots, gloves, etc....mods required with the purchase of the bike. They are fun bikes but just curious why you didn't go with the 05 GSXR-1000k, R1, or RR???? Just curious why that over the others with so many good choices in the 1000cc department these days.
