  1. That's basically my fear. How far is that in "street" miles? heh Like dog years?
  2. Wife walked up while I had Craigslist open. Said, I want you to get a CBR600. I was like, well...OK. haha
  3. Wha??? 1981 honda cbx 4224 miles
  4. I think a guy at Iron Pony said that up to 20,000 miles is a safe bet. Not sure why some sales people try to direct me towards cruisers, but I guess they are less likely to be wheelied, run up to the rev limiter, and dropped.
  5. Are certain types of bikes more likely to become royalty? For sporty bikes, at what point does age and mileage become a concern? When searching for my first bike, lower mileage was a big deal to me. Now that my bike is approaching 5000 miles, that's a new baseline for me. I'm not as worried about going a bit over that. Not as sure about 10,000+. I have nothing to base a judgement on.
  6. I noticed a couple of used ones with less than 1000 miles!
  7. Once or twice I looked up a VIN that someone provided and it was invalid or something. I don't recall what I used to look them up. I guess this is the direct link: https://www.nicb.org/theft_and_fraud_awareness/vincheck
  8. Some guy is thinking of offering $8000 for new 2013 ZX-6R and I saw a new 2013 GSX-R600 for $8100 on Craigslist. Way beyond my price range, but they seem like good deals if you want new. (Not sure that I'd want my bars that low either.)
  9. What if it were a left-over from like 2013 and it qualified for 0% financing or something? I just can't imagine spending so much on something pristine and being afraid to scratch it! Interferes with learning to ride better!
  10. I've been looking at used sport(y) bikes. Some have surprisingly low miles. I'm wondering how likely it is that the odometer was disconnected for a while, maybe for track use? Also, for bikes up to 10 years old, even with low mileage, how much degradation is likely? Here are some examples: 2008 F6S, 1800mi 2009 Ninja 650R, 3100mi 2009 YZF R6S, 5000mi 2009 ER-6N, 5000mi My 2014 already has 4800+ miles so these some barely used to me.
  11. I'm glad I actually read my mail. Got a letter from Rider insurance. Effective Oct 1, 2014, "coverage will no longer be provided for track days." Time for me to see if there's a penalty for early cancellation. Paid in full less than 2 weeks ago.
  12. This is what IP had: Razorback 2 Piece Suit The pads seemed pretty thin. The jacket almost seemed to fit, but I had the pants hanging off the back, so I don't know. Maybe with trying it on for real?
  13. IP didn't have any leather pants! Not many leather jackets compared to the womens and cruiser sections. Got a new cargo net tho.
  14. I might go to IP tomorrow early afternoon. They didn't have the Willow pants, but they have the Hypersport stuff.
  15. These Willow pants aren't going to cut it. They might fit if the stretch panels were removed! They also seem too extreme for general street use, so Imma try the Icon Hypersport pants.
  16. Yeah, heat is a concern. Problem is, there are only so many jackets that might work with the Willow pants. The jacket has some vents that can be opened, but no perforation. Now I feel hot just looking at the photo! (Probably has more to do with the greenhouse effect in the car today.)
  17. OK, so I ordered AGV Sport Willow perfected leather pants. From what I've read, they should 360 zip to the AGV Sport Dragon jacket. Odd that the Willow jacket only has a short zipper.
  18. Not committed to anything yet. I saw these for under $200 and I thought, hey, I could play with dragging my knee. heh AGV Willow with sliders I was thinking of taking a Total Control class. Will have to make some choices because I can't pay for everything!
  19. I wish I had a camera because I'd probably get plenty of feedback! Turning from a stop: While counter-steering and leaning your body into a turn is used above a certain speed, counter-leaning and direct steering is used when maker slow-speed and U-turns. That's when the bike leans, but the rider stays more upright. Or you could stay more inline with the bike. (I guess I should take back what I said about a bike being able to lean without turning. If it leans, it turns. What I was getting at is, if you continue to counter-steer the lean angle will continue to increase to the point that the bike lays down! In that case it won't turn! haha Ideally, you'd set your lean angle one time and leave it there by relaxing the pressure on the bars.) Maybe we should train like this? https://youtu.be/J99mT1GJYTw
  20. OK, there's that! Oh, that's armour without an abrasion resistant layer? I heard that mesh like that tends to come apart from normal use. Would Lycra be hot in the summer? (Might have been nice to have an extra layer below 50*F.)
  21. Ah, that looks good. It might be nice if they made a "capri" length that included knee protection. ^_^
  22. How about Icon Hypersport jacket and pants? It has a 3/4 zipper. The reason that came up was because I was thinking I could use some riding pants for the street. Then I thought, later add the Hypersport jacket since I have a textile jacket to use right now. Before that I was looking at riding jeans. This year I might not be able to throw down hundreds of USD's at once just to get on the track for stuff I would only use on the track. The Hypersport pants lack knee pucks, which I probably wouldn't need at least for a while, but they also don't seem to have hip pads/armour which I did want. One small low-side on the street showed me where I need that pad! At least being leather they would be more abrasion resistant. http://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/icon-hypersport-pants
  23. Are suits like this any good? Are the knee sliders in the right place? $200 ebay suit another suit
  24. Wow, thanks. I'd have to do the standard sign-up and hope it doesn't rain, I guess. (With things going on I'd be lucky to get out there this year! Not giving up yet tho.) Are you far from Columbus? Does it take long to get used to wearing a race suit? I was just looking at some on ebay, just to see what pricing is like.
