  1. Oh, very old thread. I was thinking. I heard that these classes are subsidized. Makes me wonder if the no-shows are intentional. Maybe they still get paid? Not saying they would actually do that, but I wonder if it's a reasonable possibility.
  2. (Nice looking bike. For some reason I like the look of drum brakes. ^_^) Corrosion at any point can cause power problems. Even battery cables can corrode inside. Have you tracing the wires with resistance or continuity checks? Maybe test things like the starter separately? Could have a short even.
  3. I was looking at this item and thinking I could do some projects on the bike like the brake light. It might be cool to see if I could get it to show lean angle and acceleration/stopping force. (We all know how much kick a 300 has? heh) But for a brake light, a small, water-proof completed device would be best. Arduino 101 with Intel Curie "...features a six-axis accelerometer and gyroscope..." and Bluetooth. (Only $20 on sale right now, if you're into tinkering.)
  4. I was thinking of building one and I was just reading that only a small percentage of fatalities involve rear collision compared to crashing into something head on. The inertial system sounds interesting. Until now I've only heard of inertial systems that decide whether to flash the light or not during braking. Considering that my throttle doesn't always close smooth (known issue), this device might be good to have. And the forks are so soft (by design), one time I needed to brake hard while trying to flash the brake light; made the front end feel like a boat on the waves.
  5. Wow, a project like that might be better as a 2nd bike. Do you have previous experience with that kind of work, on cars, maybe?
  6. My reply window shows "Max total size 0.01MB" right now.
  7. Oh, I meant that she knows how to clutch and shift. I guess the left leg is more important for riding. Could always get linked brakes or just not use the rear brake, but not shirting takes the fun out of it.
  8. Anyone ride or learn to ride after having knee replacement surgery? I just want to know if it's a bad idea to encourage my wife to take a spin around a parking lot. She's been a pillion back when she worked at a bike shop, but never a rider. She can drive a manual car though, so that should help. The bike is small and light. Just not sure.
  9. Sometimes on a slower connection, offsite photos seem to take much longer to load. Like on public WiFi in a busy area.
  10. Only cost $7.50 to ship back using a pre-paid label, so they're gone. I was a little surprised by have heavy leathers are.
  11. I think the site wants you to host your photos on an external site and just insert a link to them. Saves on storage space. I guess Google photos can work for that.
  12. Sometimes if I'm asked if I know how to do something, all I can say is, I will by the time I'm done! Not that I approach everything that way. I preferred to be prepared.
  13. Wow, that's a lot for entry level, isn't it? It's exactly the type of job I was looking for when I lived in NJ, except the commute is a bit long from Hilliard.
  14. OK, maybe I'll just send them back.
  15. BTW, I'm about 143 away from Lakewood in Hilliard. But the weather will be really nice. ^_^
  16. Big in the waist and thighs for me. Tighten the waist as much as possible, still not snug. Knee armour shifts. Excess material near knee. (The only thing selling them locally does for me is it saves a little return shipping.)
  17. Have to sell these quick or return them within a week. "AGV Sport Willow Perforated Leather Pants" in size 32. I paid $175 and now the price is back up to $219. I'll sell them for $175, local pick-up. I'm about 5'8" and 155 pounds and they are too big on me. I generally fit 31x31 in jeans. For someone my size, I'd suggest trying size 30 Willows. (They are out of stock right now.) http://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/agv-sport-willow-perforated-leather-pants
  18. I was also just reading about loosening the brake caliper in addition to the lower triple bolts, fender, and axle. I'm not sure if my caliper has "located dowels" or not. Variation #2 sounds like the cruiser article. I get the general idea tho; leave everything loose enough to settle into natural alignment. http://feelthetrack.com/free-vidoes/front-fork-and-wheel-alignment/
  19. Thanks. Where's that?
  20. Fall apart where? From what I saw, at the zippers.
  21. Tried on the Zero-60 suits today. I didn't know the black ones were damaged--broken zippers. (Bad sign?) The one-piece 44/54 was way too big. The yellow two-piece, size 42/52, basically fit. Length was good. Arms and legs were good, except there was some excess material in the thighs, shoulder blade area, and under the hump. The armour seemed to stay in place well enough. One thing that bothered me was feeling like the collar was choking me, even while crouched. The more I leaned forward the better though. Is that normal? Also, I felt why people prefer one-piece suits; that feeling around the waist in the front. Not sure I should get one or not. Doesn't come with knee sliders and the padding seems minimal, but I imagine the abrasion resistance is pretty good.
  22. Ah, I could borrow an IR thermometer and check it. One time I touched a car rotor and it instantly turned my finger tip white! Just not in a rush to touch another rotor.
  23. Been ignoring the brake for a while, but the thought of wheel alignment came up. The previous owner claimed to have tipped the bike over and I slid it a little, so maybe the forks are a little off? The wheel itself uses spacers and the axle has a nut on the end, so I don't think it can move too much. It doesn't have pinch bolts. Image of fork end and axle nut.
  24. Yokoso... (Welcome.) I'm in Hilliard, too. (I don't quite get the group ride thing, but I'm a newer rider still focused on myself.)
