  1. Started it! First time since last Dec. when I started the engine swap. Ran it for a few minutes then shut down to check for oil leaks. So far, so good. I'll start and run it a few more times, then put some gas in and go for a ride. I'm anxious to see how much difference I can feel with the new engine.
  2. Finally made a little progress today. Got the throttle cables connected, the clutch slave cylinder bracket installed, and the shifter reconnected. I put the battery on the charger so it'll be ready when it's time to start it up. Im probably only a few days away from riding again. It'll be the first time since last fall when I started the engine swap project.
  3. I like the way you think, Tonik. I did think of doing MTW so my week isn't all broken up. I know all about both halves of FICA. I ran a Subchapter S Corp for a while back before LLCs were a thing. No liability risk in teaching so a Sole Proprietorship will work for this. I'm not planning to draw SS until I'm 70 so I don't have to worry about taxes on that. It should actually raise my SS benefit because '22 will factor in at a higher gross. Gonna talk to the guy in charge of contracting me today. He's a friend so I'll try to see if he'll give me a feel for what cost they'll tolerate.
  4. Oh shit! I haven't been gone two weeks and they're calling me to come back as a consultant. Does anybody know how much it should cost to hire a PLC Controls Engineer with 45 years experience to teach training classes to newbs?
  5. Hopefully, I'll be wearing SMALLER size clothes soon. I have to lose the weight I put on during this road trip. By bike is slow enough without having to haul my fatter ass around. Looking forward to meeting up with you when I'm back on the road, Brian.
  6. If I'd known you were in town, I'd have invited you over to my hotel for a bourbon or four. Thanks for letting me know you were there... dick. 😉
  7. Last Friday was my last day of employment. After the weekend, I've now spent 2 days as an official retiree and I think I'm going to like it. I bumped the date ahead by 7 weeks from my original plan because my (now former) employer had put me on the road in Holland, MI for 19 weeks since early March with no end in sight. After 80 nights in a hotel, the manager gave me a gift bag and a card signed by all the staff. That's how you can tell you've been on the road too long. I have 2 cars that have been asking for attention - just routine maintenance. And the yard is a mess - I was able to keep it mowed, but nothing else. THEN I can get back to finishing my bike engine swap and hopefully start riding again for the fall season. Hope to meet you guys on the road!
  8. Did somebody here buy it? I like to keep track of the fellow Bandits in the area.
  9. If you don't need your centerstand when you're away from home, take it off. It's not like you need to lift the rear to lube the chain on a wing! I don't ride a wing, but my centerstand sits in the corner of the garage when not in use. It takes 2 minutes to put it on the bike finger tight when I need to get the rear wheel off the ground.
