  1. No problem! It's still stupid for me to keep spending money on this 21 year old bike that nobody loves but me. If we ever get the chance, you have to take it for a ride so you can see what I made out of a cheap, naked, standard.
  2. It's not a stock pipe, It's a handmade, Dale Walker's Holeshot stepped header with highmount. It was originally (18 years ago) satin silver ceramic coated which has held up extremely well. And nobody has ever accused me of making wise choices spending money on this. I probably have close to $20k in this bike that I probably couldn't sell for $3k! 🙄
  3. Registration by mail? Yep, and they let me pay for 8 years.
  4. It's MY 21 year-old naked streetbike. If it wasn't naked, I'd say, "Fuck it" and shoot it with flat black gas grill paint and hide it behind the plastics.
  5. I found out that Performance Powdercoating in Cols does a 2000 deg F satin silver ceramic. Their price is about half of Jet Hot's and I won't have to ship. Any feedback on these guys?
  6. Some progress today. Everything is loose except for the two rear motor mounts. Next time I get a chance to work on it I'll do the motor swap. I'm still deciding what to do about the exhaust.
  7. Thanks for the ideas, mello dude. I got a quote for $450 from Jet Hot to strip it and coat with a satin finish. If the price was half of that, I'd have it packed and shipped to NC today. They do claim it's lifetime guaranteed, whatever that means... Do you (or anybody else) have any experience with them?

  9. I finally got off my butt and started my winter project. I bought a crashed Bandit last spring that had a very nicely built motor along with Brembo brakes and masters and a RaceTech built shock. The suspension/brake parts went on immediately but the motor swap was planned for a "winter project". I finally got busy last Saturday with getting mine ready to become the transplant recipient. I pulled the exhaust, oil cooler, lower motor mounts, and sprocket cover. After I get the carbs and a couple of electrical connections loose, it'll be time to R&R the motor. I'm not sure what to do about this exhaust. Should I try to have it recoated or just polish it as good as I can and go with it? It's been on there for 18 years - guess I can't complain.
  10. That should give me enough time to get my motor swapped. I'll pencil in May 14th.
