Unfortunately it was the only option to a request of "Just make me the cheapest Intake set-up possible to get some miles on her and we will worry about changing/upgrading it later". The build was pretty extensive and the intake was the absolute last part that went on so I didn't blame him at all to be honest. Erik knows it has needed to be changed to lower IAT's and allow a better over-all tune and when he decides it is time for an upgrade I am sure it will be upgraded. If the motor has to come out sounds like now is as good a time as any... Jeff

Your car was super clean -- congrats Who won "Best Domestic" if Mark won "Best Over-all" ? Jeff

We have a vented Carbon-Fiber F1 hood coming out next week for the C6/C6Z's so anything is possible They take quite awhile to get molds done and prototyping and such but they should sell very well so its worth it This guy makes hoods for Ferrari's so quality is top-notch. I sent him a stock C6Z hood for the molds and he sent me his entire exhaust off his 360 Modena to JIG-up and sell for him. Full Titanium cat-back with cat-delete mid-pipe and custom headers. Can't wait to hear it! Jeff

I know what it is...

There is something to be said about the inherent value of having something in-stock and right there when you need it Vs waiting days/weeks to ship in Jeff

We started back in 2003 specializing in the Twin-turbo V6 3000GT/Stealth and 300ZX's. After working on those all day / week / year long everything else is a walk in the park lol. Jeff

I will give you a call on Tuesday (We are off Monday) and discuss a few things with you. Anybody can get a wholesale account set-up and buy from a wholesaler. That does get you a discount but unfortunately it doesn't make you competitive. With Jegs up the road you have to go direct with as many manufacturers as possible which = $$$ I tossed around the idea of going after more of the business on here but we are just too busy as it is right now. Might consider it down the road but not right now so I have no problem helping you out. Nothing wrong with a little friendly competition Jeff
-
Yes you should. In most cases, it can be much more profitable to be a big fish in a little pond rather than a little fish in a big one Jeff

One more word of advice -- find a niche market and exploit it. Going in saying you want to get into the f-body / mustang market is what every back-yard mechanic and small shop in the city knows. Not saying to go after a different segment, but go after a niche inside one of them possibly. Make yourself a "Go-to" place for anything and it is easy to grow a loyal customer base from there You could start with something all-together new but if you don't know it well that might not work. Read Brian's thread about what car-group there isn't a "Go to" shop for right now and pull from that. Jeff
-
I wouldn't say that at all. There is a segment of the market that will go just about anywhere for the right price. If you have enough going on in your other endeavors that you don't need to be profitable right out of the gate doing performance work then advertise bottom-dollar rates and you will get work in the door It may or may not be work you want but that is part of the game. On a side-note, most sports-car owners tend to be very meticulous with who they trust with their cars so most are willing to drive/transport quite a distance. I would say a solid 60% or more of our cars come from out of state. It is nothing for someone living 2 hours south to drive to Columbus (Or vice-versa) if they really feel comfortable with a shop. In other words, looking at it like you are the only shop in your specific area really isn't a big factor in this industry like it is with towing and body work where typically whoever is closest is going to get the work. Just my 2 cents... Jeff

I had to leave early so who won? Also, It was very nice getting to talk to quite a few of you on here that I haven't seen in quite awhile Jeff

He has got an Apexi AVC-R controller in the car now. Just need to sort the new tranny out a bit more and then dial it in based on that as we get some more passes in. It really needs a set of slicks to come out on boost... Jeff

I obviously missed something (About the surgery) but I hope it isn't anything serious. She will be in my prayers tonight Jeff

When will that be just out of curiosity? I have Bogarts going on a TBSS that is getting antsy waiting to wear you out PS -- Since it was a little OT I just sent you a PM.

Mike never has the time to get on here but he says no problem at all. Glad we could be of service and we appreciate the post Jeff

HUH? I haven't read a word past this but please show me examples of either one... Jeff

My last comment and IMO the most important thing to consider in all of this. What does Eric have to gain by telling a customer their car has a problem and he is not comfortable tuning it? We were not doing any of the work. We were not selling him any parts. We have ZERO to gain by telling him to correct an issue if there is no issue. All we risk is him not coming back or going elsewhere and us wasting 5 hours of diagnosing a car for free. The situation would be 1000% different if we were trying pitch him WE needed to do all this stuff and charge him all this money just to be able to tune it. If that was the case I would have pulled the car to get a 2nd opinion if I was him all day long. If Eric didn't care about the issues he just would have "Tuned around" them and sent it out the door and would not said a word. Then, when the alternator completely fails and gets replaced we get to re-tune it again once a new one is installed. That helps us by charging him again but doesn't help him at all (Short or long-term). I guess that is just not how we do things. Jeff

In talking with Brian and Eric that does explain the lean spikes but it doesn't explain the loss of voltage at all. We measured it with a meter in addition to logging voltage in HP Tuners. The reason we didn't do any further pulls had nothing to do with rich/lean conditions (Which can easily be tuned out) but everything to do with a bad voltage issue that pointed directly at an alternator problem. Jeff
-
Oh, it will. Eric is obviously pretty frustrated that he spent so much time trying to help diagnose the car's issues instead of doing any tuning (What it was here for in the first place) only to have him take it elsewhere. I don't blame him honestly. Jeff

I was at the "Race for the Cure" so I couldn't make it but here are pics of it taken a few months ago (Just scroll down a bit): http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c6-z06-discussion/2320451-who-built-tuned-chris-andersons-ysi-supercharged-auto-z-from-supercars-exposed.html

Congrats on the purchase! Always nice to have more Z06's around Jeff

The term "Peanut Gallery" has nothing to do with financial status or age or anything else. It simply means somebody reading along with no first-hand information about a topic. If I am reading a thread on here where Anthony is saying something about you or DynoBrian or Randy or anybody else then I am sitting in the peanut gallery just like 99% of the members are. I have no first-hand info to post (Most likely) and I am following along purely for curiosity or entertainment value. Get it? Jeff
-
Now, that being said, I can still debate with the best of them If I was on here purely for entertainment purposes I would do-so every chance I got lol. Jeff

Worst-case scenario happens let me know. I have the Billet 3.4L and complete 3.5L blocks in stock as well as Stage 1 and 2 TT short-blocks. My IPS CNC'd heads are in stock and on the shelf as well. I might even have a new Mitsubishi TT short-block in stock right now. I have nothing used at the moment but if I get anything in good shape I will shoot you a PM Jeff
-
Not on my end it isn't. I learned a long long time ago that getting into stupid pissing matches (Regardless of who was actually right or wrong) might be entertaining for the peanut-gallery but makes even the knowledgeable look ignorant in the end. I own a business that is a sponsor here. Said business exists because of happy customers and incredibly positive word-of-mouth advertising. I am on here not just because I have been since day one (I was member #12) and like to keep up with what is going on locally, but also to help many friends and customers on here every way I can save money and do things others can not. IPS is to the point now that on a forum such as this, there is no stress in making money. If I get a sale or two from here great and if I don't I don't lose an ounce of sleep over it. I don't have to "Push" anything on anybody to make ends meet. If I can provide great deals to somebody and save them some money I pass it along. If they choose to take me up on it then I feel like I helped somebody out. If they don't then so be it. You can't ever please everyone and everyone isn't always going to choose you -- the quicker you can accept both the happier and more stress-free you will be Jeff
