His 60-ft (1.32) is what is crazy. The car looks like it launches just like every other drag-radial C6 I have seen. That was the only part of the pass I wasn't buying. Since it took over a week to post up a slip (And one day to put together a video and post it) it seemed even more fishy lol. Call me crazy but I don't see Mark or Jason doing a whole lot better on Slicks/Skinnys and leaving on a brake (In terms of 60-ft) Vs his launch just rolling out on DR's. Once we get cages and the 4L80s installed I guess we will find out... Jeff

Glad we could help get things turned back around and very good to see it doing what it should have years ago. Oh, and thanks for the props in the video Have fun with it and be safe! Give us a call when you get your race gas tune as we would love to hear what she puts down full-go Jeff
-
We are thinking the exact same thing...

I haven't seen the actual slip yet from the 8.8x car so it will be interesting to see. The 1.32 60-ft is the only number that seems incredibly hard to believe (Brought up on CF) but who knows. The best C5 60-ft is a 1.32 and that thing lifts the front wheels off the ground on slicks/skinnys. He was just rolling out and supposedly matched it. I dunno... Jeff

Nada. Mark has a 4-Pt roll-bar which gets him legal to a 10.0 but that doesn't do much good. He turned the boost controller completely off in Memphis (Slow as the car would go) and it went 9.80s lol. Both are planning on doing full cages before the season gets going and most likely parachutes as well. Jeff

Here are a few "Finished" pictures of the turbo set-up that Matt asked us to help with. He has quite a bit that he is still doing but just figured this would give you an idea of how everything is set-up: http://ipsmotorsports.net/pictures/MattS10Turbo.jpg http://ipsmotorsports.net/pictures/MattS10Turbo%20(1).jpg http://ipsmotorsports.net/pictures/MattS10Turbo%20(2).jpg http://ipsmotorsports.net/pictures/MattS10Turbo%20(3).jpg http://ipsmotorsports.net/pictures/MattS10Turbo%20(4).jpg

Funny thing is that one is 100% by choice lol. I don't think it has broken or been "Down" the entire time I have owned it -- going way back to '95. I still don't think it even has 45K miles on it yet Maybe I shouldn't be looking at a white C6Z then Jeff

I have a MR2 Turbo I never drive that I can bring out and toss around lol. I will try to get my brothers to bring their EVO's out for giggles (Im sure a 600awhp 35R EVO should be magical around a tight Auto-X course). I plan to come out and spectate for sure and play unofficial photographer if nothing else as often as possible Jeff
-
You do the same and I look forward to talking to you in person at an Auto-X event soon Jeff

Same here. I was on the fence until I saw the "Black" version at Detroit. The LS7 "SS" car at the PRI show didn't hurt either lol. My wife actually loved the "Black" edition (In terms of looks) and she typically doesn't like many current sports/GT cars at all. Not sure if I like it better than the Challenger in terms of looks but there is no question which I would buy to go fast in Jeff

I don't have a bad attitude at all (If you are friends with AJ then ask him or anyone else for that matter) but when he tells me he already talked to you about the questions you had last night and you keep asking the same questions today it does not come off as being inquisitive. To me, you come-off as trying to imply or insinuate that something was not done correctly or could have been done better. I responded showing you a couple other examples of graphs with "Odd" looking dips tuned by very respected and well-known shops to show you that dyno graphs are not always a nice smooth curve (Dyno smoothing aside). Jeff EDIT: Also, if you look a little closer Linn's graph he has almost the exact same "Dips" -- they are just less pronounced due to the scaling of the print out. Look at his drop off from 22-2400rpm and then again at 26-2800rpm. If we scaled the print-outs the same they would look virtually identical. EDIT EDIT: If I questioned something on one of Brian's graphs and he explained it and I questioned it again and again I would be flamed off the site for about 67 pages for insinuating he did something wrong with the tune. If you don't believe me, I will sign-up with a different screen-name and show you lol.

Shhhhhhhh -- you are going to jinx it Jeff EDIT: Just for the record, I fully expect it to be one of the slower cars we finish up this summer.

I could get with Eric and we could both waste a hour of our lives posting more of AJ's graphs and over-lays of any one of a few hundred other lsx graphs (Both tuned by Eric and others) and on and on but we don't have that hour to waste. We don't owe you or anyone else an "Explanation" about any little dip or wiggle or anything for that matter on a graph on somebody else's car. Eric already explained everything to AJ and if you are that concerned with his car then ask him directly. Eric didn't start tuning LSx car's yesterday (I think his resume of big power / fast cars speaks for itself) so there is zero wrong with the tune or the car or the set-up or anything else. I spent 10 seconds searching but why don't you post asking Tony M. why one of his project cars has a weird "Dip" in the torque curve from 4-4500rpm and again from 5-5500rpm: http://guerragroup.com/PG6-14-07dyno2.jpg Surely one of the most well-known and respected persons in the LSx-world realizes how much better the car "Could be" if they were not there. Cam sizing and how well it works with the heads and over-all set-up is no excuse. Why does this car have the same weird drop at the beginning of its torque curve from 2200-2500rpm? http://guerragroup.com/2000TA_CheaTRvsTRak_dyno.jpg Like I said, I could do this all day long but the 10 minutes I have wasted with this is 10 minutes too long already. If you would like to critique / analyze / question anything else please ask AJ directly. Thanks, Jeff

Pump gas and a shit-load of Meth doesn't = Pump gas to me. I guess my E85 car will be called "Pump Gas" all year too then lol. Jeff

All that being said the car sounds NASTY and his burn-outs were worth watching a few times

We are not worried I figured one of the crazy custom one-off twin GT40 or huge single set-ups would show up the first track day of spring and pop-off a low low 8 right off the bat. Running 8.8x is fast but even that car has a little more in it yet. The 8.8 C6Z has a Cartek built LS7 with a Ysi blower set-up (We are finishing the exact same set-up on a customers car right now) that he did the 4L80 swap in. It "Only" made 950rwhp with the 6-spd so it most likely didn't break the 800s with the automatic. It is down on power quite a bit as compared to our Twin-turbo set-ups but it is quite a bit lighter (Right around 500lbs or so). The 17" M&H/Skinny combo certainly helps out as well. The car cut 1.32 60s so that and the weight is really the only difference in terms of ET right now. How much faster Mark and Jason go will be largely dependent on how much weight we can lose and how effective some of the small changes we made over the winter turn out to be. Mark's car weighed in at 3640lbs w/o a driver so it is taking quite a bit of power to trap 158-159mph. With heavy wheels, full factory interior, a/c, NAV, and then the addition of the Iron LSx block and full TT kit and roll-bar and everything else in it she is no featherweight for sure. What sucks is that to run anywhere other than a select few local tracks both cars need a full cage and chute and other safety goodies and all that just adds more and more weight. We are looking very forward to getting out as soon as the tracks open and getting the record right back Jeff

I am pretty sure Eric already went over the cause/effect of every little bump and dip and wiggle in the graph with AJ. Eric thought the clutch was new since the engine was just out and freshened up so he was doing what he could to take it easy on it. I don't know that it ever actually slipped during a pull on the dyno (Where you could see it on the graph) but you could smell it a little bit after back-to-back pulls. I wouldn't call the clutch "Bad" but that is why the graph looks the way it does at the beginning of each pull. Jeff

I would for the first week Jeff

Matt picked it up a couple days ago I took a few pics before it left but haven't had the chance to get them off the camera yet. I will post them up or Matt can post some up as well. Can't wait to see how it does this year! Jeff
-
I bought the car back in '98 when they were still worth something lol. The funny thing is I bought it with 17k miles and today it has 21k on it. If it was only a Supra the re-sale value would have been well-worth the lack of driving. Trust me, I have adopted a few over the years and have never even thought about keeping another one Jeff
-
Yes it is Since I waited an entire year waiting on the our (IPS) custom 3.4L billet crankshafts to get done it has been a dead-duck for awhile but it will be back out this season again. All the "One-off" parts are at the shop and the engine is in NY so the wheels are all you get lol. Jeff

To put the gain in perspective an '01 Z06 (385hp) typically puts down around 335-340rwhp on my dyno. A '02-04 (405hp) typically puts down around 350-355rwhp stock. With Stage 2 heads and a very mild cam AJ picked up around 60rwhp on a FRESH engine. It will pick-up around 10whp once it is more broken-in so that isn't helping his numbers either. To put into better perspective, Eric's '02 Z06 had essentially the same heads with a 231/236 590 with 610 lift on a 113 LSA cam (Nothing insane and still very street-able) and it made 429rwhp before he added the FAST intake & TB. AJ's car makes more power than Eric's car did (Even being down almost 40 peak rwhp) below 4900rpm so it will actually be better for coming out of tight corners with the type of racing he does. Jeff

Bella would pass for one lol. As far as Chihuahua's with pink collar's go she is pretty intimidating though Jeff

You have no idea how bad I want to put a LSx in a S2000 -- BUY IT !!! Jeff
