Well, I wished I would've done this before I actually dropped the motor in my car because now it'll be a PITA, but recently I've been kicking myself in the ass for not being so precise about my cam timing. The car runs like a raped ape as it sits by just setting my aftermarket cams in my motor in pretty much standard timing, but the cam card suggests I run 100in and 98ex degrees which I'm doubtful they're at right now. My question; anyone here have any PERSONAL experience in degreeing cams? I haven't taken the time to do it myself, but since I haven't gotten hands on experience there's some stuff that confuses me and I wouldn't mind someone's help if at all possible. I don't want to take my car to a shop to have it done because I hate relying on other people to do stuff I should really just teach myself.

$530 bucks isn't too terribly bad, I picked up both my webers(2) for 850 new pre-jetted and etc, and a custom manifold for my car was about 100 bux. Since then I've spent about 100 dollars on jets just to get it running decent, but I suspect once I get it on the dyno there is MUCH more jetting to be done. It's been a bunch of fun learning how to tune carbs because it's more or less a hobby that people these days aren't willing to learn. It's really satisfying when you can pop the hood, make a couple adjustments here and there that make a big difference while people watch in amazement. Kids these days are clueless, and I think carbs are cool as hell .

Mikuni's are nice as hell to work with but jets and etc are starting to get really hard to find.. I almost went with a pair of 44's on my corolla but I gave in and spent the extra for webers since they still make plenty of parts for them.

What side-draft carbs do you plan on using if you go that route?

The leader of Outbrake Motorsports and owner of this car, Derrick, has been building this car for a couple years now and last year he was able to get it out for the first time, right before the season ended. He had some trouble keeping the couplers on his intercooler piping but other than that it was a fuckin' hoss. He rebuilt an L28ET Z motor and put an R200 skyline rear end in it with the original 4 speed tranny.
