  1. I'm looking at the PS3 for a Blu Ray Player. - My current receivor (a Harmon Kardon 7.1 setup), can't decode, DTS-MA, Dolby True HD, and a couple other Blu Ray specific formats. - As of PS3 Firmware 2.40, it can now decode DTS Master audio and pretty much everything else, and stream it via LPCM, so I could still use my current receivor and get all the good sound. - For those with receivors that have all the decoding for the newest stuff, the PS3 is lacking the ability to bitstream DTS Master Audio. At this point, I am still trying to decide what to do. I could upgrade receivors, and go with a cheaper Blu Ray player, though I may not like not having a 2.0 compliant unit (I'll have to do more research to decide). If I go with a 2.0 stand alone that has a built-in decoder, I start to approach used PS3 prices (within less than $100), and used 2.0 stand alones aren't going for much less than new. From what I have researched so far, the PS3 will play burned Blu Ray movies, which still leaves the PS3 as an option (if it didn't, I wouldn't even consider it).
  2. The lady has a right to be pissed anyway. - Your wife was given the citation for the accident - Your wife isn't responsible enough to make it to her court date. - This lady had to take multiple days off work to deal with this in court. And is pissed because the insurance company was being cheap (at least in her opinion). Let it go.
  3. 05-06 GTO...then you get the vented hood, better brakes, LS2, better looking exhaust setup. 04's go a lot cheaper than the 05-06's though.
  4. My experience going to/from Canada has been more of a pain going to Canada then getting back in the US. That's both flying and driving, even with my wife being a Canadian citizen. Neither is all that difficult with a passport. Without a birth certificate, they may not even let you across. But it's stupid not to get a passport; ~$60 and it is taking 1-2 months if not rushing the order right now, from what I hear.
  5. Come on, like I don't know how to check my levels. You are in the NOC; I was a field tech that knows how to actually troubleshoot and fix this shit on a daily basis. Levels are fine. RX 2, TX 40, SNR 37....WELL within spec. Can't help an overbuilt plant, or poor plant design, or poor design hitting the head end (I was never a maintenance tech, so that's my weakest field TS point). No packet loss, no phone break up. Dual RG6 throughout condo, compression fittings, all tight. I haven't broke into the lockbox to look in there; I'd imagine the setup is two RG-11 lines feeding it from a nearby 4-port tap that feeds the next building over...I'd take a guess that it's a 11 or 14 value hot tap. Obviously I can't verify that without looking or seeing prints, but I know the transmit level is low enough that I'm not sitting too close to an amp.
  6. WOW broadcasts the locals unencrypted too, since the start. Music Choice channels as well.
  7. They were supposed to change the rule last Jan. for a passport when driving across. Now I heard it was this Jan, but I haven't looked. It is already required for flying and boating to Canada. But why not get a passport? It is easy pretty easy to do, not all that expensive, and they are good for 10 years. It's stupid NOT to have a passport, seriously. I have been there a couple times. My wife and I were married there, and had an AWESOME wedding with more guests than expected (Ben - aka Casper was there, and I know had a good time, as did his wife). We have always stayed at Sheraton on the Falls, with a fallsview room. But it's pretty expensive for those rooms (usually $300-500 a night; thank god for hotel points). Most of our wedding guests stayed at the Hampton, which is close enough and pretty decent, and a lot less expensive. You must visit the Vineyards. In April, it should be warm enough to do the Jet Boat tour, which is freaking awesome (you WILL get totally soaked even with full rain gear on...think jumping into a swimming pool wet). Both big casinos are pretty good. There are some great places to eat as well, and a lot of stuff is within walking distance. Maid of the Mist is cheap/neat. Tour under the falls is pretty overrated, other than getting up close and personal with the falls. American side sucks. Full of illegals and dirty.
  8. My wife's has never had any cold start issues, even on the coldest days we have had this winter. I wonder if it is a problem for the early 2.0T's.
  9. If it has to have hood pins - pass. If not, it is alright.
  10. And then, only if they check........
  11. Yeah, our ice storm sucked a fat one.
  12. Look at any of the documentation on WOW's website...none of the WOW docs say anything about "up to" but rather the actual speed package. Look at all of the U-verse documentation. It all says "up to." Of course it doesn't say you will get over the advertised speed. In actual, real-world tests (on properly functioning PC's, and good speed-test servers) the speed is ALWAYS slightly higher than the advertised. It's just how it is built, whether you want to believe it or not. I have done speed tests at easily over a thousand of customer locations over the years; this isn't new to me.
  13. Why haven't you PM'ed me about this? Let me know, I can hook you up with a good deal. Or go with WOW, and get over 100% of the advertised speed..... If it is an 8300 box, you are good to go. Just add an external hard drive. I've seen several customers use this, and it works very well. If you want to bump up to the 15Mbps package (we have one with 1Mbps up like you have now, and another with 2Mbps up) just let me know. I have spent a LOT of time with both Warner's and WOW's DVR boxes, and the WOW software is much better. Quicker, easier to navigate, actually has 4x fast forwards/rewind.
  14. All of the automatic B7's do it. My wife's 06 does it, as did several other ones we drove. Minor vibration at idle. Not really a big deal, and not enough to be annoying.
  15. WOW - 15 megs down / 2 megs up, and GOOD ping times.
  16. I've seen (and driven) their C5 headers. Expensive, but VERY nice.
  17. I have all the games + Rock Band II (it is compatiable, unlike 1). I have 2 guitars and a microphone. I only want the drum kit. I don't want the Rock Band drum kit; must be Guitar Hero.
  18. I'm sure your test account is faster than this Warner connection I'm stuck with at the condo. Inconsistant speeds FTL...and it ain't packet loss. I miss my 15 meg down / 2 meg up connection. I still can use my Slingbox that is hooked up to my WOW account.
  19. Hell, I was interviewing people today.
  20. I bought mine at Best Buy for $89.99 a couple months ago. Looks like they don't have them anymore, though. Had a ton when I got mine. Then I sold the game alone for $50 on E-bay.
  21. Nitrousbird

    WOW FTW!!!!

You can have custom settings with our wireless router. They will be available in less than a month. There IS a cost associated with it. I don't have all the details, but I was under the impression the cost is less than what Time Warner charges. We WILL require you to have phone service with us to have the wirless service, as it is all integrated into one unit (looks like our current Arris EMTA's but w/ a 4 port switch in the back and an antenna. I've heard a lot of good things based on the trials we have had for it.
  22. That was a good price. Locking it up.
  23. I'm stuck with Sprint at work. Garbage. Their land-line stuff sucks as well. As soon as my wife's Sprint plan expired, she moved right on into Verizon, and hasn't looked back.
  24. The ONLY good thing about being stuck with Warner at our condo was the unlimited newsgroups. Then they took that away. Now there is nothing good.
  25. All of you Columbus folks complaining about Time Warner need to PM me. I'll get you hooked up with WOW, for most likely less than what you are paying now. FYI, WOW may use the same DVR's...but NOT the same software. And there is where the difference lies. Just watch both boxes do a cold boot; you'll have 3 programs set to record on the WOW box, and be watching Maury in your boxers before the TW DVR even finishes booting up. I have WOW at my rental, and am stuck with Warner at my condo (though am working on getting WOW into here...that should be some EASY sales).
