  2. I know that this is probably just a small error, but the Roth is not tax deferred, it is tax free. The 401k is tax deferred, as would be the traditional IRA.

Yep my bad. If you wait until you are 59 1/2 it is tax free.

  3. Per SEC regulation it is required that your account hold at least $25,000 (for day trading) in cash or a mixture of cash and equity. You will get margin called if your account value goes to $24,999.99.

If your account does not hold this amount you will be flagged by the SEC and your account relegated to exiting positions only until your balance is above 25k. This does not include margin

Well I guess what I do isn't technically day trading. I've only been in and out in the same day a few times. But I'm usually in and out in the same week.

I've pulled all my play money though since I'm buying a house. Haven't done any trading in 4-5 months.

  4. Well first as already said at least contribute the maximum you're company matches in your 401k. It's free money. I also recommend a Roth IRA. Deferred taxes FTW. As for play money. If you are a buy and hold type investor you can just start buying up stock. But IMO you might as well just invest the money in a stock based mutual fund.

For day trading you are going to need to start with a bit more money to make it work. Try to save up 8-10k before starting. You will also have to do quite a bit of homework and get to know the companies you want to invest in. This includes looking at the balance sheets, keeping up on the news, and listening to the quarter conference calls (or reading the transcripts). Day trading can easily be a full time job. You will also have to get to know the whole industry. How to pick out trend lines and stay ahead of the game. Which is all the stock market is, one big game.

Oh and try to keep emotion out of it. I've made thousands and lost thousands. When you let you're emotions get in the way, you make stupid decisions.

I try not to listen to tips. There's no harm in doing some research on a tip, but don't invest blindly or on just someones elses word.

  5. Doug, I have sat back and see what everyone has posted. I let it slide and you kept edging it on, so here it is my list of why doug is a douche and nutz swinger.

    1) doug you swing off of mark nutz all the fucking time. At one point everyone on trackaddicts thought you wanted to have his kids.

    2) you wasted your money on that stupid GM turbo idea we all warned you about it.

    3) your fucking annoying as shit. kind of like that little scratch on the part of your back you cant get to.

4)You think that you are better than everyone else.

ok is that enough reason to think that you are one of the top 5 dicks on cr? Yes, could give a shit less about you making fun of me. When clearly you have issues.

    1. I'm pretty sure you don't speak for anybody but yourself. ;)

    2. We? Is there a squirrel in you're pocket? I didn't even know you when I put a turbo on my Grand Am.

    3. Like I said before, you're just pussy hurt that I made fun of you. But if I remember correctly, everyone did. Geoff we were never laughing with you, always at you.

    4. I don't think I'm better than anyone, except you.

How much money did you waste rebuilding your stealth over and over again?

  6. Please don't sell them if they arn't PACs.

I delt with tons of people with broken 918s from CC new springs supplier.

That and you should never use used springs. It's not worth saving the 20 bucks you can get new PAC-1218s (old good 918s) for. Sorry for ruining your FS thread :(

  7. doesn't always work, i did that to a L6 and it brought the compression back up but it was a burnt valve and the little bit of oil that was forced out the exhaust port just cranking it over was enough to seal the valve to the head and take it from 120psi to 155psi. i was glad i checked the head before taking the engine out for a rebuild.

Yeah I know it's a ghetto way to do it. Leak down is the proper test procedure.

  8. I'll give that a shot. I didn't get a valve job on the head, but I used lapping compound to try and create a nice mating surface between the valves and the head.

Did you fill the ports with water and watch for leaks? Quick and easy way to see if you have a good seal.

  9. 7psi doesn't quite feel like 7psi probably because my compression is 145 - 170 - 163 - 178. How could I determine whether it's rings or valves? I am assuming a leakdown test would tell me if my rings are bad, yes? What about valves?

Leak down test. You can hear where it's leaking. Crankcase, exhaust, intake, etc...

  10. get off my nuts already, just cuz we all don't have 3+ posts per day doesn't mean we're a troll.

@ doug: if you don't care why'd you post in this thread? go shit somewhere else, nutswinger.

    Who are you again?
