  1. I just had the same idea. 1) Take a friend to their house 2) Start shitting on the hood 3) Mid turd have your friend knock on their door 4) Mace them 5) Finish shitting 6) Go kick them and scream "Don't fuck with the great Zamboni" 7) Rip their shirt off and wipe with it Or learn next time to call the cops when you find property that's been damaged by another person. You're right, the cops won't do shit except for file a report. But that report could be very important down the road.

  3. When your beliefs infringe on others being afforded the same opportunities that you have, then yes it's wrong to not allow them those same opportunities. This isn't about beliefs, it's about people being treated equally which is a 'god' given right. Like I said earlier, democracy is absolutely not about a majority ruling (over the minority). You're allowed your opinion that it (being a homosexual) is wrong. That is also allowed to sway what a company that's trying to sell to you does. That doesn't mean I won't also tell you that my opinion is, that you are wrong and why. I won't go on too much of a tangent on this, but I also think that publicly broadcasted channels should be held to much higher standards and rules (as well as anything calling itself news). I'm pushing equal rights and you are pushing beliefs (sometimes bordering bigotry disguised as morality). Guess which one wins in my logical head? You guessed it the FSM. http://www.crackedpixels.net/files/images/fsm.jpg
  4. That's why I keep highlighting the idea of how to do it as economical as possible with current technology. The technology and adaptation of tomorrow will be much different and you'll be able to do more with less (money). And it's about more than 'free' water.
  5. Yeah, my uncle down in Athens collects the water from the roof of his pole barn at the 'top' of their land. Then it's ran down to the main area they've built up so far to water the lawn and plants. It's huge, something along the lines of what you are talking about. That's a good idea, but not as realistic for someone living in a city environment, where you have to worry about 'rules' and noisy neighbors bitching about things like this. A few 55gallon barrels and some simple modifications would make a great, economical, supplement to not using as much water from the city on your gardens. And like Clay said, aren't likely to even be noticed by anyone. At least until things like this are more widely accepted as more and more people do it. When being concerned about our environmental impacts long term we are much more likely to be able to sustain our efforts and make real impacts with incremental changes. It would be great if everyone could install a system like your professor, but it's not realistic. The cost would be astronomical and probably not ever pay back on itself. But if we start small and build up over time, it will become 'normal'. It would also be great if tomorrow we could switch over to renewable power (solar and wind), all drive electric cars and switch over to super efficient appliances, but it's just not realistic.
  6. My understanding is that this is very common in some developing countries that don't have water systems like the US and other developed countries.
  7. But might look into this more, thanks for the links Killjoy http://www.rainxchange.com/products/rain_barrel.php Looks like it could be apartment friendly and plenty of water for our small garden. Or at least a nice supplement. We still have the 'problem' that our pipes are sealed from the top down into PVC in the ground. Not wanting to have to modify that and put it back to stock in a few years when we move into a house is the biggest reason I haven't do it yet. Also pretty cool they are talking about LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) green building with these systems (the larger scale ones). Just out of curiosity I went to a seminar about water runoff in building design last year. Pretty interesting stuff.
  8. There are some concerns places about 'stealing' watter (for lack of a better term coming to mind right now) that should be going to the aquifers. Not as much of a problem in Ohio or when you are talking about 55 gallons, but the laws are there some places in the deserts or to make sure people don't take 1000's of gallons that should be going to the basins. EDIT: To the OP... SHUT UP YOU STUPID HIPPIE... opps, forgot who I was talking to. Though about doing it, but living in an apartment right now it doesn't make as much sense. We do have a small garden and compost. If I were to do it, I'd just raise the barrel up on a stand and let gravity do the work. Have the downspout coming in and sealed, then another spout at the top sealed coming out to go to the drainage. Then when the barrel is mostly full it can overflow into the drainage. Then have a hose connected to the bottom, but above whatever you are watering. At the very least if you did this you could use a smaller pump in case there is not enough head pressure. When I do this when I have a house in a few years I will try to do this as economically and environmentally friendly as possible. You could even build the stand into something that encases the barrel so you can just get one of those blue big plastic barrels. I'm just guessing those would be much more economic and durable than something that looks 'nice'.
  9. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=230391112105&rvr_id=&crlp=1_263602_263622&UA=WXS%3F&GUID=446c97721260a026813644b6ffd9df92&itemid=230391112105&ff4=263602_263622 We took a friend to Mountaineer in WV for his Bachelor party. They had a bottle of this stuff and we were taking turns buying him drinks. A friend bought him and our bachelor friend a glass of this stuff. I do not like whiskey and this stuff smelled like heaven.
  10. I doubt they could take anything away from TRC. There's just no way they could offer anything that TRC doesn't already have.
  11. I've got a CRKT that I really like (not looking to sell, just another suggestion). They make some pretty cool/interesting designs imho. Maybe this one, not 100% sure, but mine's very close to this. http://www.crkt.com/M16-10-EDC-Black-ZytelHandle-AutoLAWKS-Combo-Edge
  12. That's not why the add got rejected and you know it.
  13. While all valid points, they only way to talk about this issue is like we did. What's the root cause of why it's a 'good' business decision for CBS to not air that commercial? Because people like you, PDQ and Vlad 'hate gay' people. You can feign acting like you don't all you want, but you do or this would be a non-issue.
  14. Only New Fang because they play it on CD101, and I like it. I grew up listening to the blues from my Dad so I like the bluesy influence. Going to check out some other songs from them right now. Yeah, it's easy to expect a lot from them Dave Grohl, another player from Queens Of The Stoneage (very good band) and John Paul Jones... who doesn't like some Led Zephlin? Whoolly shit, was Josh Homme really in all of these great bands? Wiki just says 'associated', not sure what exactly they are implying by that. Queens of the Stone Age, Eagles of Death Metal, Screaming Trees, The Strokes, Arctic Monkeys, Them Crooked Vultures! Really wish I had more time to dive into music like I'd like to.
  15. Neither of us can have any idea what's it's like growing up being a homosexual, or figuring out you are a homosexual at some point in this society. Unless you are a minority who grew up in the 60's or before, which I'm pretty sure you are not, you have no basis to try to sympathize with their point of view. That's where this little thing called empathy comes into play. It's just too bad that a majority of our society doesn't even know that word. Of course someone who's a discriminated against minority could end up feeling like they have something to prove! I think you are right, it's probably mostly an overall societal issue that's the root cause of homosexual people being singled out. From what I've seen 'young' homosexual men are more likely to be flamboyant. Young as in they've relatively recently come out, or come to terms with it. Then they settle down into their life and go back to being themselves.
  16. Forgot about Walking After You, probably one of my favorite songs at one point in the past.
  17. Loving it, thank you for not being a stereotypical conservative (i.e V8Killer, Vlad and PDQ). Why can't people open up their eyes and just let everyone live the way they want to live? Can't they realize that it could be them in the minority...
  18. Lulz, the electronic version of paper-bagging it. Some other good music for this thread http://www.myspace.com/thecliks
  19. I just puked in my mouth a little. She scares me. Evil robot 'woman'. Nice photoshop though.
  20. I see a regular smiley there. For me that would usually denote being happy or agreeing with something. If I were trying to be sarcastic I might use this one. Or this one. :bs: Were you trying to be sarcastic? I didn't get that from either the tone of your sentence, or the smiley.
  21. So straight sexuality is OK for your young easily influenced sons to watch, but gay sexuality is not. Got it. Yeah, playing devils advocate a little bit, they had to know that add had a possibility of getting rejected. Lots of bigots like you in the world to rely on. Freedom relies on the premise that all people are free. Democracy relies on the premise that not the majority rule so as to alienate the minority, but that all people can be heard and live their lives as they wish.
