  1. You would have talk to a tax and financial advisor for the final word. Iirc like tractor said with most companies you have to have an account with them for a certain amount of time before withdraw or face a penalty. I'm sure that amount of time can vary. After that you pay taxes on gains at cap gains rates on gains when you sell the funds. But gains on sales of cash assets inside of the funds are sometimes passed off onto the fund holders so you have to pay cap gains taxes every year on that.
  2. Is that all of your money? I have no good investment advice beyond what many have said here. Except for if that is all of your money put a chunk back for a safety net, in case shit hits the fan you have money to live off of. The typical '6 months of bills' idea. Granted it's not our only (relatively) liquid money, but our safety net is in relatively safe mutual funds (through a financial advisor) so they don't sit in a bank losing money.

  10. He probably heard about the Wallrus and was trying to get his race car on.
  11. Is it a 'mirrored' set of cylinders i.e. the 2 back cylinders? Or two random cylinders?
  12. Orion holds an insect church every Sunday.
  13. I can dig that, more power under the curve/flat torque makes for a better driver all around IMHO.
  14. What 'translation and adjustment' do they need other than converting from Kw ~> HP and Nm ~> ft-lbs? In that case, the car went from about 140/140 to 220/220. That's about what Paul's Miata makes right? So it will still run a 15 second quarter.
  15. While I don’t have any experience with either of these cars I think these are two very important questions while thinking about this. What is his overall driving experience? Specifically on track? Both of these cars are probably going to be pretty fast on track, even out of the box. If it must be one of these two, I would think one might be more forgiving at the limit than the other; simply by the nature of the stock handling characteristics. Just spit-balling a guess that’s probably going to be the R, but that’s just an educated guess. Bigger picture if he has little to no track experience, I would think something with less power, lower absolute handling limits and maybe more neutrally balanced might be more appropriate while he learns. This also depends on how serious he/you thinks he will be about tracking it. Maybe this isn’t such a big deal if we are just talking about one or two learning events a year. Just food for thought, take it as you wish.
