  1. Reading CNN this morning, the wife, sister and mother of the biker who is now paralyzed and in a coma from being run over are quoted several times, with his sister saying that while she does not condone the violence, she is glad that they chased down and caught the the guy in the RR. Then his mom finished with, "...justice has to be served." Justice for WHO?! Are you fucking kidding me?!
  2. More than you can afford. FUR-RAR-E VROOM VROOM
  3. They arrested the rider that brake checked him today. There are also a lot of reports coming in that these guys were blocking traffic, splitting lanes, and surrounding other cars and not allowing them to change lanes, forcing them off the freeway. Not only were they on sport bikes and dirt bikes, but some were on ATV's.
  4. That's because they pulled him from the car, beat him, and slashed his face with a knife.
  5. It's the HKS kit, which looks like a Rotrex supercharger. Doc, I thought you were going turbo?

  8. I would wonder how much of this is conjecture based on how much development cost vs how many they have sold to date, instead of spread over the intended life of the vehicle. Every few months a new article comes out saying how much GM is losing on each Volt, but that's only using sales numbers up to today, not the entire life of the model.
  9. Fuck them and their mob mentality. The dude in the RR should have been on the phone with 911 since the beginning in order to document how the incident unfolded and have a police response. The only thing that went wrong was he didn't have a CCW so he could shoot the fuckers smashing in his window.

Yeah, just hit the button to turn mobile data off.
  12. Love the color Doc. Any other pics of the whole car? FD's still look so good, even though they're over 15 years old.
  13. Doesn't sound like you've ever been around a dog in attack mode. I was asked to watch my friends dog (not positive what it was, some type of mastiff pit bull mix, 80-100 lbs) at a track day a few years ago. Some guy with a lab starts walking his dog over and thought it was funny when my friends dog stood up and lunged towards his dog, so he starts laughing and brings his dog closer. At this point I'm yelling and pulling as hard as I can on the choker and can't hold the dog back any more. Even though the dog is wheezing for breath it attacked the lab and would have tore it to pieces. Luckily, my friend was close and ran over. He put a stop to it just as it was biting the labs throat. The dog only listens to him. I was yelling, hitting, and choking the dog and it didnt give a shit. If a dog like this is in kill mode it will only listen to its master, if you are lucky. To the OP, I wouldn't let this dog anywhere near my kid. The pepper spray sounds promising.
  14. http://www.roadandtrack.com/car-reviews/first-drives/2014-alfa-romeo-4c-first-drive-review After reading this how could you not want one? Jones, looks like it's a dry clutch DCT, but he seemed to like the shift quality. The interesting thing to me was that it's 4.5 sec 0-60 time includes 3 shifts! Holy hell, when you're in gear thing is a quick little car. I have a hard time deciding whether to think of this car as a modern F40 (exotic construction, losing comfort features in the name of weight savings, small displacement turbo engine that screams, very analogue...) or a modern, properly executed Fiero (small, cramped, RWD car with a FWD econo car drive train and rear suspension, composite body panels...). It doesn't matter though, either way I still want one.
  15. I find your posts to conflict with each other. On one hand you're saying to count calories, then you say you're monitoring the type of calories you're eating. What you're eating has as much of an effect as how much.
  16. I think this is one of those times where weight is not a reflection of overall health.
  17. Well, with 450 HP she's definitely got some teeth.
  18. http://oppositelock.jalopnik.com/the-most-important-aspect-of-alfa-romeos-new-4c-1374580282/@matthardigree Looks like it's got a slight curve to me.
  19. Also, I'm wondering how deep under water this new island was before the quake. Can you imagine the waves created by a freakin island shooting up out of the water? Surprisingly, the island is pretty far from the epicenter of the quake too.
  20. That's pretty amazing and I have been hoping some video, or even satellite pics would come out by now.
  21. No. Exactly. I find the car very appealing and would buy it in a second if I had the cash.
  22. Surround view is available on a lot of cars now, not just super luxury models. The good systems have better image stitching and better clarity. I was even in a cheapo Honda van in Japan that had it. The trans takes in data from the GPS map as a virtual horizon, and can use road geometry and grade data to hold a gear longer, downshift quicker, upshift earlier, etc. Say you are approaching a long grade; the trans may hold a lower gear longer so that you have the torque available, instead of doing a harsh kick-down after you are already slowing down as you drive up hill. This is just the beginning though. Soon it will know you're approaching a taco bell, downshift to slow the vehicle, and automatically steer into the drive through. FWIW, I just priced out a new S550 with the Driver Assistance Package, Surround View, Night View Assist PLUS, and Magic Body Control and it cost $109k. No fancy headliner though.
