  1. Someone in the comments also suggested it could have been a former prototype donated to a tech college for training, so it has no VIN and cannot be sold. Looks like something was painted on the hood, but it's hard to see.
  2. Great video to show the benefits and I've actually driven on that track too!
  3. Not all All-Season tires provide the same traction in snowy conditions.

  5. Yes, it can, but like usual you are limited by the surface. Can a car on snows stop faster on snow and ice faster than a on all seasons? Yes. But is it enough to warrant over driving the conditions? No, and definitely not on ice. Most of the time a properly equipped car will be limited by the traffic around it, not by the conditions. At least that's what I found driving in MI. Once traffic clears I have had no problems driving the speed limit in some pretty well snow covered roads.
  6. Several areas in the Midwest were under level 3 snow emergency, making it illegal to be on the roads for nonessential purposes, so quite a few suppliers were shut down. That's my best guess. At 9 am my car still reads -12F and we area supposed to hit a high of 2. Lots of schools are going to be shut down tomorrow too.
  7. http://grassrootsmotorsports.com/media/files/podcast/audio/ericheuschele.mp3 Grassroots Motorsports mag had a 30 min conversation with Erich Heuschele about Viper and SRT in general. Some of you may find it interesting, and he even touches on the fact that there is no current SRT4.
  8. It delivered in Michigan. Most of the state is under level 3 snow emergency. First came the snow, now it's cold temps and drifting.
  9. Draco, I get what you're saying and I agree that this is probably their strategy. In my initial post I shouldn't have said "disappointed," I should have said surprised. Since this is the Gen V supercharged engine I would expect it to be found in the next ZL1 and CTS-V also. I am first surprised that this would be that engine, seeing as how Ford already had 660+ HP and Chrysler has an undetermined amount of HP in something rumored as Hellcat. I expected this engine to be rated similar to the Ford. Also, I expect the new Z06 to be priced closer to the old ZR1 than the old Z06 and I don't know that a ZR1 is even going to happen. (It would at least be a few years away) It will be an impressive car, and will no doubt lap tracks faster than much higher priced competition. I'm just surprised at the HP rating.
  10. No, don't get me wrong, I said it should be and impressive car, and it will probably kill a lot of more expensive cars. However, with the performance increase to the base engine I was expecting the next gen supercharged engine to surpass the previous. I'll be interested to see all the details because maybe I'm wrong in comparing it to the previous ZR1 and should be comparing it to the CTS-V/ZL1.
  11. I find this a little disappointing, only because I expected a power bump compared to the ZR1 due to all the engine updates. It should be an amazing car though.
  12. Abarth 500's sound awesome. My coworker bought a Focus ST a few months ago because there was no SRT Dart and so far he loves it. I haven't had a chance to drive it yet though.
  13. Regarding the Focus ST, from all the magazine articles it sounds as if the Fiesta ST would be a better choice and more along the lines of what he's looking for, minus the V8 sound.
  14. Z/28 does not have magnetic ride, but it does have the first production application of spool valve damper technology. http://www.multimatic.com/news/release.php?release=58
  15. That's exactly why I suggested what I did. It doesn't sound like he wants the highest grip, or highest HP car available, but wants something "fun to drive" that can be pushed with confidence on the street. The C7 sounds like it gives a much better driving experience, and they certainly sis a great job with the dynamics of the CTS and ATS.
  16. Maybe. And that pic is the 2011 and not an SRT and the test was questionable...Although they just tested the 14 with no issues.
  17. Yeah, it's no Audi, that's for sure (although they share a transmission) Since when is 470 HP V8, AWD, low 13 sec 1/4 mile, 0-60 in 4.8 sec, 0.9 g on the skidpad, and 60-0 in 116 feet lame? I'll say it again: If he wants a fast, fun, good sounding daily and needs a back seat then take a look at it. If he wants a track rat that he'll occasionally drive on the street, then don't. He said he wanted something that he could push hard and is fun to drive, not necessarily something with the highest ultimate grip (referencing the RSX vs Z06 comparison)
  18. He said he wants something that has the sound of a throaty V8, good brakes, and is quick off of line, preferably with a back seat. He didn't say it needed to be a track rat. I know it's big and heavy, but they are a hoot to drive and it might surprise you. It's no Alfa 4C, Z06, or RX8, but it's a fast, fun, great sounding daily. Seriously, go test drive one then PM me when you want it.
  19. Go test drive a 2014 SRT Jeep Grand Cherokee. I love the 300 SRT too, but the Jeep is a different animal. It's quick, it sounds great, handles well, and has seating for 5.
  20. One 401k was 30.3%, RothIRA 42.4%. It was a good year, but I would be happier if I had more in my IRA, lol. My other 401k has very few investment options and only had 10.5%. I think I need to roll this over into something else
  21. This is a good thing. The Daimler "merger" was more like a takeover. The relationship with FIAT is much, much more cooperative and everyone is focused on building the best products possible.
  22. I'm not saying the F-body is unsafe, but I am saying that the regulations have changed a lot since then, and it's much, much harder to get a 5 star today. When they were first updated they equated the previous 5 star requirements with the new 3-4 star, depending on how high of a 5 star the car achieved. Of course you don't know how high over the 5 star threshold a car scored so it's just guessing. Then if you consider IIHS scoring you're even worse since they have created several new tests since that time and made it extremely hard to get Top Safety Pick or Top Safety Pick+. For example, last year IIHS's list of cars that met this criteria was ~130 vehicles, this year it's ~30. The reality is that today's top rated vehicles are much, much safer than a car designed and certified 20 years ago.
  23. Lolz "5 star" when the F-body was built is nowhere near a 5 star today. It's probably equivalent to a 2 or 3 star. OP, as others and the insurance company have said, you must replace your child seats after any accident. Also, you should replace them after a few years (I think it's 5, but don't quote me) because plastic gets more brittle with age.
  24. Yup! X BOW, BAC Mono, or any of the Palatov cars would be awesome.
  25. Does a Jeep Wrangler with a pick up truck conversation count?
