Hey all, After being consistently dissapointed with the quality of shots of our 2 month old son taken with my Nikon Coolpix 3700 and the built in still digicam in my Canon HG20 camcorder I am looking for a better camera. Not being crazy on the idea of a 700.00 camera I was thinking of buying a used SLR 35 mm or more preferably a used digital rebel XS or XSI? Any common failure points on these to look out for? I thought I read somewhere there was a non-resettable shot counter? How many shots is a lot before the mechanism needs repair? Is there a water damage indicator like cell phones? Drop indicator? If it zooms, focuses and takes a series of pictures in standard and continuous mode can I assume it is ok? On a side note I had a canon elph years ago that I thought took really good pictures of my cars but how often are cars indoors with varying lighting and their expressions do not quickly change. Thanks! Andrew

Killing groundhogs so I guess somewhere in the middle- only requirement is that it can shoot cci stinger ammunition and I believe they all can as that seems to work very well. As far as price... well- I can get new ruger/savage/remington semis and bolts at Dicks for 149.99- 199.99 some with scopes so somewhere below that. I have been borrowing my dad's stainless Marlin 995 semi-auto with a cheap 3x9 scope from Andersons which is a sweet setup and he doesn't mind but it is inconvenient to go get it all the time. I realize 149-199 isn't that much for a quality name-brand rifle but it is very low purchase priority that I get one so I figured I would throw this out there. A digital SLR for the new baby, college savings, autox costs with the corvette, and numerous other things outweigh this purchase and the rifle is backup to the have-a-heart and conibear traps I have set.

Hey all- I am looking for a .22LR bolt-action or semi-auto rifle with a scope or at least dovetail groove for adding a scope. Thanks, Andrew

My wife and I have one which we love! We bought it new in late 2003 and it is an 04 Type S. The only things I have had to replace on it beyond the normal maintenance routine (brakes, tires, belts) are the drivers side door lock solenoid and an led bulb in the HVAC controls. It handles really well, has lots of torque and power for a little 4 banger (I swear at 6-8K RPM it feels like a mild v8). Gets about 30 mpg and the seats/interior are some of the best I have seen. Very good in the snow as well and with the seats down you have quite a bit of storage. It even has a back seat which has become quite a big deal to us now that we have a baby. We have gotten our money's worth out of this car and we feel there is a lot of life left. Surprisingly, I don't know if it is was the fact that the tires are newer or that the chassis/power are better matched to my inferior driving abilities but after driving both at an autox course, the rsx honestly feels easier to drive hard than my z06 corvette-

AJ, that's funny ;-) See you there- I hope it doesn't rain! I plan to use it to take care of groundhogs, coyotes, racoon, and skunk at my dad's farm. Austin do you also have a savage 93 .17? Thanks! Andrew

Hey all- Was looking at .22LR with stinger ammo with option to shoot subsonics and shorts. I was wondering how much louder a .22 WMR or .17 HMR would sound in comparison to the .22lr for more variety of varmint control and better knock down. Are .22 WMR and .17 HMR rounds available in subsonic? I could not find them on cheaper than dirt but I am new to this. I did find a chart of centerfire cartridge decibels and they all looked about the same around 156-160 db depending on barrel length and caliber. I know decibels are a log scale though so a small difference is actually a lot. Thanks, Andrew

I called wildlife control about the foxes and they said they have more than enough on their state preserves and it was up to me to hire varmint control to trap and destroy them or do the same myself. As our son is not able to walk yet and never goes outside without one of us holding him I am going to give them some time as they are fun to watch- I have some great video and pictures. My parents have a german shepherd that will probably be over 100 lbs when she is full grown so I think that is how I will deter the foxes from camping under my porch- thanks for the tip.

Funny you should say that- A friend of mine did that and it affects the bullet velocity such that it is no longer one shot kill at 30-40 yards with .22 LR. 22 shorts are that much quieter? Do they have the punch to do it?
-
They are very cool and fun to watch don't get me wrong.

Please explain... EDIT I googled it- I don't think I have the muzzle energy to break the spinal chord/shatter the hip bones. I may be able to get all the way to the heart from the anus but that would have to be a ground-level shot and I shoot from standing?? No? It looks like I am going to have to try for the ear/eye and if that doesn't work I am getting a crossbow... do you think 180 lbs is enough?

Hey all- Where would you aim? Do you think a groundhogs skull is harder than a pressure treated 6x6 I think it is. Maybe eyeball or ear? Laters, Andrew

Hey all, It appears as if Tom Tussing in Worthington used to be the CR recommended teacher from searching- anyone have his number or have any other recommendations? I have guitar pro 5, guitar for dummies and a few other books, and have lots of teach myself practice. I can play most open chords, some barre chords, and even pick a few measures of numerous songs- the problems I currently have are with fingering, strumming rhythym, and chord transitions and I do not know how to progress from here. I have been at the same place for years now and picking a new song to beat through on guitar pro just teaches me measures of that song not how to properly play the instrument. Thanks! Andrew

Deal just fell through- Price reduced to 900.00

Thanks guys! I will check out vance. I am thinking along the lines of .243

They measure roughly about 10" wide from the inside with the curved edges so I would say they are 17 x 9s safely. No, the tires are not dry rotted.

Hey all, Listing these for a friend. Four 5 Lug Chrome Cobra R rims with centercaps and 275/40/17 BFGoodrich G-Force T/A KD tires. She had these installed on her '99 Mustang only briefly during a few years ago and are in immaculate condition. I asked her to shoot a picture of the tread to estimate remaining life and I will post it when I receive it. $1,200.00 Or Best Offer. http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj162/hpfiend/rims2.jpg http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj162/hpfiend/rims3.jpg http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj162/hpfiend/rims1.jpg Thanks, Andrew

Thanks for the help guys! We checked out the shepherd haven but they didn't have anything my mom liked (female puppy) We ended up getting a 14 week old AKC German German Shepherd female puppy from a breeder we found through petfinder in Columbus. Just had the 72 hour check-up yesterday and she is A-ok. gauranteed hips and elbows and full breeding rights if we ever go that route. She seems very smart already. Any recommendations for puppy training classes? Thanks, Andrew

Could not find one in columbus do you know of one? We are open to that.

Hey all, I was wondering if anyone could offer any recommendations to breeder, hints, suggestions to buying an AKC sheperd dog. We have always had mutt shepherds before but would like to try a purebred this time. We would like a female as we figure it would be a little smaller and less agressive. Thanks, Andrew

wow- consider me out of the loop! Congrats man! I recant my previous statement ;-) - IPS now already has touched my LS6 hehe see you at the autoxes
-
Awesome! Will you have a car(s) there to look out for Jeff or just spectating? I will see what I can do- my dad is tempted and his paddle shift torquey LS3 would be ideal but he is being difficult- he and my mom autoxed and did a few hpdes with the porsche club a lot before I was born and a little after that until he remembered vettes were better than those status symbols on wheels. He sold the 67 vette he bought new to get his first p-car the 77 924 that we bastardized in my sig many years later. AJ- are you still on 295s all around or did you upgrade to 315s in the back?
