  1. The 87-93 5.0 HO mustang TB is 60mm (86 is 58mm). Not 65mm. Hence why I suggested the Explorer 5.0 TB. http://www.veryuseful.com/mustang/tech/engine/ConvertingExplorer65mmTB.pdf
  2. 5.0 Ford explorers had a 65mm single 4 bolt TB with Idle air control on side and TPS on top, cable actuated. Intake air temp provision not in TB. A little NEVR DULL, varied grit sandpaper, and some elbow grease and it could be shiny... ???
  3. Nice find... I say go back to the factory head unit- the 10 speaker setup in my old 96 f-body was one of the best factory stereos I have ever heard. You are going to lose a lot of window and dash/center console material with that one if you ever park it outside of your garage. I am curious as to what you guys think about that 928? That car has a lot of nice engineering to be so disliked in the automotive world and I don't know why. Is it unreliable or underpowered?
  4. I wish they could have kept a stock hood on it..... I also can't believe they spent all that money on the powertrain and didn't address the chassis/suspension to keep it on the ground to actually ET.
  5. It is not the point of this thread to start an indoor or outdoor league- I have no interest in trying to set this up again and only asked for selfish reasons to see if anyone currently had the hook up. That said however, If someone else would like to try good luck and I am in provided I dont find another team first. Thank you! Andrew
  6. Thanks for the tip- I will try that... I signed up as an individual there but have not heard anything yet. Yes, I think the coeds play on Sunday afternoon...
  7. Hey guys/gals... Some of you may remember I tried to start an indoor soccer team last year. Many expressed interest and seemed excited but when it came time to pay only one person other than myself coughed up the dough. So.... I still want to play. Is anyone currently on a team or know of a team that needs a sub? Anyone forming one or know of someone forming one for next session? Coed or Mens I don't care I just need some cardiovascular exercise and I enjoy the game. Anyone know where you would post an ad like this on craigslist? I looked and only found man seeking woman/man seeking man, etc on there other than stuff for sale. Thanks, Andrew
  8. Hey all, This is a Wolf Auto Evolution car cover for a 97-04 Corvette coupe. It is in great condition as it was a family member's that used it on his corvette in the garage. It may work on the FRC/Z06 body style as well but I have not tried it on mine. I would doubt it would work on the convertible. This cost over 250.00 when new. Asking 125.00 OBO. Thanks!
  9. This is likely to start a war but having a fourth-gen f-body and a fox body I will chime in on this.. 302 is a mod hungry proven powerhouse with a great factory configuration, 3" short stroke, 4" bore, factory forged pistons before 93 so they love boost and nitrous, sounds incredible, and the engine bay is huge so its easy to work on- Many argue that it takes an LS1 to get a better more mod friendly powerplant. The 305 isn't really worth discussing in comparison but the 350 models are acceptable but by no means the monster of the ls1. The mustang 8.8 rearend on full slicks and 5K rpm clutch dumps is near indestructible, if you do break something, after adding power, it will likely be the axle splines and they are cheaply upgraded (250.00). The 7 5/8" 10 bolt is so fragile a 2000 rpm launch on drag radials can shatter the ring gear with not much power beyond stock. The t5 transmission in both is a nice shifting unit when new but does not take abuse well but the pro is they are cheap to repair/replace... really you need a t56 from a fourth-gen and the vettes/vipers which is an awesome transmission but MUCH heavier (75lbs versus 300 I think). There are kits to put them in mustangs and they might just bolt up to third-gens so that really isn't an issue for either. The coupe body available on the fox mustang has much more structural rigidity than the f-bodies especially with a t-top version in comparison so they are quieter and stiffer- I have only been in a few hatch foxes and they are about equal to f-bodies. The fox body is also lighter- especially coupe models. I have never had the pleasure of working on a third-gen but it looks about equal to a fox- neither are anywhere near the !@%% it is to work on a fourth-gen. So for drag racing the fox mustangs are easier to make fast. BUT because of that they are also a lot more expensive... you can get third-gens for next to nothing in comparison and a 12 bolt and ls1 is a proven upgrade but they aren't cheap at that point so back to the fox. NOW for autox/road racing- the camaros are 5 lug for more wheel low profile tire options from the factory, have a nice 3 link rear suspension (torque arm, 2 lower control arms and a panhard is a cheap available upgrade, versus the POS 4 link the ford's have. They also have double wishbone (SLA) suspensions with true macphersons in the front (at least the 4-gens do and I bet all that stuff bolts on if not). I bet they also have more camber adjustment as well as a result which the foxes seriously lack. You can also fit 275s easily at all four corners in a f-body which is near impossible in the front of the fox with stock fenders and post 87 k-member. AND even though I think the third gens also have drum brakes I think the fourth-gen brakes will bolt right on as well which are eons better than the mustang stuff which you have to convert spindles and hubs and axles all sorts of stuff to get the sn95 stuff on which isn't much better. The cobra stuff is better than stock fourth-gen stuff but I know of at least a few fourth-gens that put corvette and porsche brakes on. That is my 10 cents on the pony cars. If I wanted to autox/road race cheaply third gen, cheap drag racing fox body.
  10. I believe some of the vette guys that roadrace/autox also use these to monitor their tires as an indirect pyrometer. I plan to add the non-z06 factory setup to mine when I change my tires for this purpose and the safety/lazy factor.
  11. Haha- dude get real- just trying to help... Good luck!
  12. Do you guys really cary 15 round magazines at 15 rounds for long periods of time? I only have 9+1 in my 15 rounder as I have heard the springs fatigue and it may not be as reliable when you need it to be. Opinions? Andrew
  13. I know someone who has had this very same idea and even owns his own warehouse and has decided not to do it. The rest of the post has been deleted- its too easy to piss on someones parade it is hard enough to come up with an idea let alone bring it to fruition- good luck bro- let me know if I can help with the number projections.
  14. If you do indeed have one, you are what gives a bad name to corvette owners.
  15. Hey all- If you were to get a tint job done by Yousef or anyone else and not like it is it difficult to remove cleanly?
  16. Back to the shaker cup- it works much better if you only put the protein in first, add milk to 8 oz and then shake, then add to 12 oz, then shake and finally to 16 oz... much happier today.
  17. tell us more about this blender with the universal lid...
  18. FWIW byers chevrolet in delaware has a c5 I saw today and acura of columbus had one for a while as well.
  19. I would check prices of new flywheels... my 5.0 setup was only 99.00 from ford racing and if you figure in the scrap price of the old flywheel and the risk of having a @#%@#% clutch because willy drank too much last night and didn't resurface it correctly and you live with it because you don't want to go through the hassle of pulling the driveshaft, transmission, etc again, it is actually cheaper. thanks, goodbye.
  20. A stock c5 zo6 will out run about any stock non z06/zr1 c6 short of an 08/09 ls3 car. Especially if it isn't a z51 c6. What was the question? Oh yeah- as crazy as it is, most people wont buy a vette with over 40K miles either so they certainly wont buy one with a salvage title.
  21. +10 on what Johnny B posted. Case in point- I weigh about 115 lbs normally at 5'5" tall. I worked out somewhat dilligently in HS/college without worrying about what I ate for about 6 months to a year at a time... I got up and down from about 125 or so of pretty lean muscle. One summer in college I had a personal vendetta against someone MUCH larger than myself- I worked out 4-5 times a week without much more intensity than I had previously but I did it this time while eating 4 scrambled egg whites every morning for breakfast with cheese, huge (to me) tuna melts/other 12" subs from grinders that were on the "healthier" side for lunch, metRX with reeses pb icecream after most workouts and as much as I could eat at dinner of normal foods. In just under 3 months I put on abou 25 lbs of lean muscle. I was at 145 lbs, benching just under 225 max, ripped at about 4% body fat and extremely strong and I didn't even really workout my legs back then(played club soccer), with a set of brass knuckles I was ready to even the score- the funny thing was I no longer cared once I was "capable". Chicks were all over me, I did have a serious gf back then, my wife now, but it was amazing how males and females alike of all ages treated me differently- I am talking classmates, professors, strangers, chicks in bars etc. Of course screwing around in the the gym with buddies punching a heavy bag I blew my shoulder out and was not able to work out for months after that... and then I got busy trying to graduate, working, married, you know the drill and lost it all.... I started working out again in November as I have a kid on the way and know I will never have the time after the fact to do much more than maintain so I have to get back to close to where I was now... I was 117 lbs again in November ;-) I just weighed myself this morning and I am 124 lbs or so and I am just now physically fit enough to work out hard again without injury. I am eating lots of eggs and tuna, and am using cytogainer currently as it was on sale. I was going to get metRX again but I was recommended this one and it was much cheaper- I am using half the serving to limit my creatine intake and will probably get metRX mail order next time unless the results are as good as people tell me they are... (I have only used the cytogainer a few times) But I hope my real life example gives further evidence to what you eat is more important than what you do. The number one priority is eating somewhat healthy and a lot and the second is consistency in workouts. that's my .10 on the matter. +1 on the blender as well... I have been trying to stir this stuff in the cup with limited results- trying a shaker cup as we speak. EDIT: shaker cup is better than stirring but damn my triceps are sore after working out and all this shaking. still chunks- blender ftw. wait with more shaking its clearing up--- verdict is still out... but blender is def easier and you still have to clean out the shaker cup.
  22. Hey guys/gals- I have been looking for awhile now at air compressors and know that most professional shops use 60-80 gallon 2 stage 5 hp minimum 240V compressors from previous questions I have asked. However- what do most of you actually have in YOUR garage? Those 60 gallon compressors are nice but you have to anchor them to the floor, and they take up a lot of space, and not really that big of a deal but you do have to run 220 to them. If I could find a horizontal unit that was of similar specs I would buy it and put it in my crawlspace and run lines through the wall/floor to the garage- however I don't have a lift nor run a shop from my garage and I don't even currently have a project vehicle but I know that will change- so maybe these specs are overkill... Also it seems a lot are rated at 5hp peak but only 1.6/1.7 running. My dad has a 5 hp honda gas motor portable job with probably 4 foot long small diameter dual tanks that works great. He added a 20 gallon vertical tank in line with it when he isn't trying to carry it around it's actually not bad- noisy but not bad. I am thinking one of those horizontal 30-35 gallon ones with a 5 hp peak electric motor and single stage pump for 299.00 might do me right and I can add a spare 20 gallon tank like my dad did if need be? The one I am looking at is 110V but I would be open to 220. I have seen guys use impacts on those crafstman tankless units before but I think they are just trying to save elbow grease on loose bolts not bust loose big rusty fasteners (suspension/lug nuts). So- what do you use? Thanks!
  23. nice- any idea what section meijers would have them in? I figured they would but couldn't find they yesterday.
