So, serious question, why didn't you say 'no'? I vaguely remember a thread where you stated you were going to only accept cash at your practice...are you not legally allowed to do that? Can you not send this pill popping twat away? Can you require a credit check before performing surgery on someone without insurance? I know this sounds cold hearted but I am 100% serious. I give thousands of dollars a year and hours upon hours of my time to different charities throughout central Ohio each year. I love to help those in need...but only when they are willing to try and help themselves. I HATE that I am being forced now, more than ever, to carry dead weight. -Marc *edit* That Iphone is probably an Obama phone. I honestly thought that was a joke until I was driving on Morse Rd and saw a wireless carrier preaching "Free Government Cell Phones and Service INCLUDING DATA!". I wanted to pull over and burn it down.

LOL. I was not referring to your motorcycle crash; I was talking about Ben B., aka Crash here on CR. I read a post by him earlier today talking about how he doesn't/didn't have insurance for a surgery and other issue and simply paid the hospital off direct each month. I was NOT taking a low blow at you. I should have after that Steeler comment. God we suck and it doesn't feel good! -Marc

This man gets it. And works in the industry and deals with this shit day in and day out. Well said Austin. -Marc

Also, that is a whole lot of "ifs". My biggest aggravation is understanding who is going to be paying for all of the new insurance subsidies that will be offered to those that are deemed too 'poor' to pay for the new coverage. Oh that's right, it will be people like me and you and those that actually pay their bills and their taxes and do the right thing. My insurance year begins September 1st. I went to our annual benefits meeting and learned that my annual premium went up 19.5% and my deductible increased by $1,000.00. After reviewing all of the paperwork I found a little gem stating that our actual cost increase was 'only' 15% but because of the ACA, we are being charged an additional increase of 4.5%. Straight out of my paperwork: "We had a 15% rate cap on our second year, however the new taxes and fees from the Health Care Reform for 2014 added an additional 4.5% fee." Thank GOD we had the rate cap for this year; I am way too scared to see what our rate increase will be next year. I was also informed that because of the additional costs of the ACA to employers with over 50 employees, our insurance will no longer cover spouses whose employers offer them insurance. Doesn't matter if our spouses insurance is triple the cost of ours, if they have it offered we won't cover them. What a load of shit. After speaking with 5 different health insurance reps I have learned that this is going to become the standard at most corporations and that we just found out early because of when our year begins. I have always paid for the best health care my employer offers. I wanted to be protected from anything because of my lifestyle (fast cars, extreme sports, motorcycles, etc). Now, after running the numbers and looking into the penalties, I am seriously considering keeping my supplemental insurance which pays me very nicely for broken bones, cancer, serious illness etc, and dropping my actual insurance. It would be cheaper for me to pay the fine. IF I were to desperately need insurance, since there you are no longer allowed to be denied coverage (even for pre-existing conditions), I can simply buy insurance from my hospital bed/ambulance . Or, as Ben (crash) pointed out, simply get a bill from the hospital and work it out with them. I have had great success having the cost of procedures lowered and then pay them off...why not do that and then just make payments? I'm sure it would still be less expensive than continuing to carry ridiculously expensive insurance. I am ranting, just pissed off that I work very hard and am being penalized by those that do not. -Marc **edit** I also believe that I am paying more for similar insurance as Ben and I am a healthy, single man. !!

Based on what you have previously posted regarding your insurance costs, the word "us" may be the wrong word for you here. -Marc

So what you're really saying is that WE pay your health insurance? Nice. No wonder you are all for the ACA. -Marc

Logic... :gtfo: -Marc

What do you know about health care? DIE, REPUBLICAN SCUM DOCTOR, DIE! -Marc

Whats the "better deal" for CR members? I wouldn't mind another sport bike.. -Marc

CSCC, to my limited knowledge, has complete online degrees that are actually degrees from OU and Kent State. Worth a shot. As others have said, you may have a few classes that require physically being in a class but, because of your past college, you may have your GE's covered. Do your old credits expire? I would make a few calls and see what happens. Degree + Experience > just one. A degree and your experience will set you waaaaaay ahead of fresh college grads. Good luck, and no I won't do any of your finance homework...unless you pay me -Marc

Has anyone ever fought a school zone speeding ticket?
AngryBMW replied to Ramsey's topic in Passing Lane
I think he is really just trying to make sure he isn't charged with a Reckless Op and try to avoid the unnecessary court costs...just like I did. I was speeding regardless of the limit being 20MPH for school or 45MPH like usual. I was in the wrong and only wanted to cover my ticket. No need to pay all the additional shit and have a RO too. -Marc -
Sounds good, let me know! I was also thinking about Tahoe so maybe you can give me some personal insight on where to go Talk to you soon, -Marc

Good luck man. I was just honest and told them I would be happy to pay the fine and that I wasn't trying to get it lowered etc. It was my fault for not paying attention and I got popped. I just didn't want to throw away even more money on court costs/lawyer etc nor did I want a reckless. They were cool. -Marc -

I went through this exact situation earlier this year at the same intersection. I was rolling through at 7:18AM and got popped going 50. I had just woken up and didn't realize the speed trap started at 7:15 not 7:30AM. Female Deputy got me and was very nice but stated she owed me the ticket since I had received a written warning in Cinci a month prior (who knew warnings were transferred throughout the state?!). Wrote me the ticket, stated I had to go to court. I called the prosecutor, Beth Mitune (sp) to explain the situation and told her how inconvenient going to Delaware County court was for me and asked if I could simply pay the fine. She granted me a little leniency since the ticket was time stamped 4 minutes after the school zone took effect and allowed me to pay the fine over the phone and did not make me go to court. . I have not had a ticket (in Ohio) in the past 2 years so I was allowed to take a remedial online driving course to 'hide' the 2 points from the DMV and my insurance. Worked out for me and I only paid the fine. I also called because I was sure even though the cop didn't write it as a reckless op that because of the speed over the limit I would be charged with it and get 4 points rather than 2. I would suggest calling like I did and ask to make sure that this is a 2pt moving violation and see if you can simply pay the ticket and avoid having to go to court. Can't hurt. -Marc -
Damn good to hear from you Ben! I was just thinking about you; I'm planning on heading out west to hit the slopes sometime in Jan-March and was thinking about Steamboat or Winterpark again. I assume you still live out there fulltime? Still riding? the bethel road range is about 10 minutes from my work so I can meet to shoot some handguns during the week. Long distance I head to Briar Rabbit in Zanesville. Closest range to let you shoot 300+. Text me your number and we can set something up. 614-327-8085 -Marc

I was commenting that the boat in your link was nice. DO YOU EVEN LIFT?!?!? -Marc

Pretty sick boat. Have you ever owned a boat? Do you have something to tow it with? It could be a cool experience for you if you like watersports. If you want to replace the vette with another toy this is definitely a cool option. Just remember that boats are not cheap; if you go into it with the mentality that you will be putting money into it you will be ok -Marc

TTT. No one has a friend/enemy looking to unload a few tickets to this game? -Marc

A lot of people said that about Hyundai. Go drive one back to back to a 7 series and let me know your thoughts. Is it the same? No. Is it close and getting better? Yes. Give it a few more years and Hyundai/Kia will be players in the luxery market. -Marc
