Actually not. The problem Chrysler had with lag that killed the Turbine car project was related to the transmission, not the motor. What you might be referring to, though, isn't lag, but the natural behavior of a turbine. They make more power the faster they spin. At low RPM, they produce very little power. That's why turbines usually only get used for applications where they run at a constant high rpm, like aircraft or power generation.

I used to take my mountain bike down to Tar Hollow for shit like that. The road from the fire tower down to the campground and the dam. I hit the bottom one time going waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too fast, couldn't even begin to make the corner. I ended up making the corner a straightaway, out through the grass and up the ramp on the end of the foot bridge over the spillway...cleared the bridge without touching it, then wiped out in the campground.

It's the only way it was gonna happen at all. If it wasn't forced by law, then yeah, a lot of people might have made the switch to get the better picture/reception, but only if their local stations made the switch. There was no way in hell the stations were gonna switch unless forced.

STOP! Do not sell any of the long guns or revolvers until you can have them appraised! Seriously, you don't know what they might be worth, and you can't trust anyone you might sell to for an honest price assessment. Look, true story, when my Grandmother died, we got all of her and Grandpa's guns. A couple pistols, a pump 20ga, and a side-by-side 20ga. We weren't interested in selling at any point, but the side-by-side made us a little curious. Turns out it was worth a shit-ton. Well over $2500. But here's the thing, the lowest gun in the series that gun was from would only be worth a few hundred. This one had every valuable option on it, but the differences are pretty subtle. Taken as a whole, what looks like a nice but not-too fancy gun is actually a very rare find. Get your guns appraised if you don't know them, or risk getting SCREWED.
