  1. That was actually Champ Car series. The inagural race in San Jose used a strip of road that crossed a rail road track. The drivers bitched and this year they re-designed the course. Fortunately, they won't be racing there next year because street courses suck. Unfortunately, a lot of open wheel series are leaning towards them, especially Champ Car.

    New..

Wow, I'm late to this party. I didn't realize there were people on here from so close to my hometown. I'm from McComb, I'm sure you know some people from there. And I'll agree with Findlay being a ricer capital city, it's pretty pathetic.
  3. Damn, It's amazing how smooth Monacos circuit is. Compared to most other tracks they run at his hands were perfectly smooth through the turns. I'm sure it helps keep their asses out of the wall.
  4. Pretty much my current dream car. Having it spotlighted in the season opener of Top Gear was pretty sweet, too.
  5. Fake.... No, that was pretty sick. Is it bad that I don't find it as fucked up as I probably should? Maybe it was the pictures I saw last week of a guys hand stuck in a meat grinder that helped desensitize me? I'm sure if I stick around here long enough someone else will post something to top this.
  6. Don't get dissapointed so fast. The G37 is Nissan's BMW fighter. The GT-R is meant to be their 911 fighter and, of course, will be completely different from this car.
  7. I wonder if Bugatti actually lent it to them. I bet it was supplied by a private owner, like when they tested the Enzo that belonged to the Pink Floyd drummer. Hell, according to an episode of Fifth Gear this season, everytime you shut off the Veyron it beams back information via satellite about how you've been driving. I think this is just beyond believability, though.
  8. Haha, I like how he started up the car even though the radiators were probably smashed up front (or maybe they're not like 911's?). Coulda hurt the engine like that.
  9. I don't have a hard time imagining something like this happening in that area lol. If I saw it I probably would have thought nothing of it.
  10. Have you gone down to her house and talked to her about the incident? Clearing the shit up could help and maybe she'll be cool about future fireworks? Or offer her a ride in the RX7 and take her far away from the city and dump her...nevermind.
  11. One of its biggest pros would probably be the reduction of dependence on foreign oil, I guess. The process of making the stuff can be dirty itself, though. It's been a while since I've read, but a quick search found an article I found somewhat interesting. "Burning ethanol has a mixed effect on vehicle emissions. According to the Department of Energy, E85 in place of gasoline reduces carbon monoxide by four percent and NOx by 59 percent, but it raises total hydrocarbon by 43 percent. Ethanol is free of certain toxic chemicals — benzine and xylene — that are associated with gasoline, but exposures to those substances are so small that no one is worrying about them today. On the other hand, ethanol exhaust emissions do contain acetaldehydes not found in gasoline exhaust." This is from an article in Car and Driver, so trusting its accuracy could be hit or miss. But it's some kind of information that could help.
  12. BBC America is showing full episodes, but they are 2 seasons old. They even left in the Star in a Reasonably Priced Car segment, even though most of the guests are unfamiliar to Americans.
  13. I hope the opening episode covers their attempt at the Britcar 24 Hour. I just watched some highlights of it from Autocar and it looks awesome. I'm sure the Top Gear guys managed to make a huge mess of it.
  14. Neither the Bugatti nor SSC's top speed passes were verified by Guinness. So technically, the fastest car is still the Koenigsegg CCX. But, The Bugatti has been recorded on video by a few auto news groups doing 253.
  15. Upper bowl tickets are only in the $40 range and they're pretty good IMO. I'm gonna go for the pick six special they have this year. You should check that out at their website.
  16. Haven't auto makers been using this tactic for decades? I mean look at the new M3, they made people wait forever before they started selling it after the new 3-series came out. It usually increases the number of people on thier waiting lists.
  17. I've never seen one in black, it's a whole new level of hot in that color. The new episode of Fifth Gear (a Top Gear offshoot) had a comparo between it and the 911 Carrera 4S. Basically, the cars are dead even in performance, but I didn't fully agree with their testing methods.
  18. Sorry to bring back an old thread, but I'd really love to get rid of these wheels and tires. I'll drop the price to $450 now. Please PM if interseted and I can give more details. I still would like to keep it local so the buyer can pick them up or I can possibly deliver. Thanks again for looking.
  19. Tiffosi: It's what a group of avid Ferrari F1 fans call themselves.

Sounds like this was written by Jeremy Clarkson, but I think he's a Formula 1 fan. When it comes to Formula 1, I enjoy it for the technology. These days it's almost out of hand, but damn those cars are technical marvels. But I do prefer GT racing over any Formula racing because there are different cars and the competition is much closer.
  21. Like this isn't the millionth thank you thread for Derek, but here it is. He just swapped some springs onto my car after weeks of bugging him to find a good time. Dave (Gas Ass or Grass) helped him out with the work, too. Then they hooked me up with a much needed alignment afterwords (-2 degrees of toe on the rear doesn't make for a relaxing drive). I highly recommend their services to anyone looking for work involving the lower half of your car. Thanks again, guys.
  22. UPS is definitely good to have. Luckily I get them for free, the benefit of working for a company that makes UPS's. The power went out here yesterday and I was able to kill time by playing some GTR on my computer hehe.
  23. What are the odds you can see cars like this at the Vintage races at Mid Ohio? My guess is not very good, but I'd be going for sure if these cars would be there.
