New plan: 1) Await next-gen 2013/14 4-door Jeep Wrangler diesel 6-speed manual 2) Buy it, rock it for 20+years 3) Semi-retire to FL condo once kids go through college 4) Bring classic, one-owner diesel Wrangler with me. 5) Win at life.

Yeah...silliness. Thanks, CR. Need to be down there far more often to justify the investment.

Before I get flamed... This would be kept in a condo in FL, to be used instead of renting a car everytime we're down there. I've driven rental Sebrings before...body is as stiff as a week-old salad...but especially in FL you can't beat 2002-2005 JXi convertibles for less than $6k well-optioned and relatively low miles...curious about anyone owning one on here... I wouldn't buy one anytime soon, but in some recreational car searches it checks off a lot of boxes for Florida cruising for notta lotta dough...

I used to be a moderator on a forum for old Fiat/Alfa Romeo owners, but the site kept on breaking down and needed repairs.

I test-drove a Sorento back in 2009, only because it was the biggest 5-passenger SUV I could find with a stick-shift for under $19k. Holy cow...dearth of options. It was a stripper. I sat in a higher-trim model with heated leather and the works...definitely worth the few thousand more, and I'm NUTS about my manual transmissions. Was a good riding SUV. I was very "meh" about it, though...still think there are better options out there.

I had two warts in my life, one on my foot, one on my left index finger. I had my gf (at the time) who was a podiatrist use fire beetle extract on the foot, hurt like a bitch but killed it off in a few days no problem. The hand was earlier in college, and I went for periodic cryo treatments at a dermatologists office. Also did the trick, but has left a small indentation in the skin that hasn't filled in over the last 15+ years. Hardly visible, though. Can cryo(freeze) treatments also be used to minimize/remove moles?

I was talking to Rocky at HD on Saturday, and he recommended a roll-on bedliner over the spray-on types. However, I realized aside from Duplicolor I don't know of many DIY bedliner kits! Please share your experiences here. Also open to home-grown recipes for bed coating. I'm actually NOT looking for a sticky surface, as I use the bed for mostly yard waste and like to quickly broom it out (though, I guess I can always lay a tarp down first). Really looking to beautify(?) and protect from rust...

I know I can always resort to asking a few guys to help, but I'd like to see if I can do this on my own as well... I have a HF engine puller, and I've seen steel "H"frames with adjustable arms that go under the bed sides of a pickup, used in combination with a hoist to pull the bed off of a pickup truck. Does anyone have something like that I could borrow? I'd like to make a front bed panel replacement, and undercoat the bottom of the bed while getting it ready for new paint on exterior panels as well. Thanks!

Best of luck, be safe, and HAVE FUN everyone!

Been driving the truck around and enjoying it. Really want to get it painted sooner rather than later... I'm now thinking about going back to matte paint. I'm nervous that my paint gun won't work with thinned Plastidip, and I don't want to get new equipment for a one-off paint job... EDIT: Stopped by TSC today after a luncheon in Pickerington, grabbed some Valspar T&I Paint, Ford Red. Also got some naptha to thin it with. Over a gallon of materials - more than enough - for $35. Need some hardener, respirator, etc...sorry, Plastidip guys! Also, going to pull the bed to replace the dented (and pinholed) front bed panel, which will allow me to sand and paint the frame as well... Too many projects, not enough time.

Might trade an Xterra for a 2001 B5.5 Passat. VW guys in here.

This. My v6 manual '00 Passat just ticked over 140k miles and the timing belt is a bitch. Car is well engineered, and should run forever if properly maintained. I just bought all new control arms for the front suspension...looking forward to fixing up the creaky, loose front suspension soon. Awesomely comfortable car on the highway! -
For some reason, I can't give you any more +rep. Lord knows I tried to give you some after this little gem...

Another car I've liked since it's introduction - but had not driven - is the Mini Cooper S. Yes, its fail-wheel-drive and yes, it's only a 2-door...but there was a lot to like about the engineering, the driving, the history, and the amenities that intrigued me. Recently, in talking with TimTaylor75, I took the opportunity to drive one at CarMax at Easton. STYLING: It's been beaten to death, but the "two-box" design is the most efficient packaging you can ask for in a vehicle. However, when you spend a few moments looking over the Mini, popping the hood and trunk, checking the interior, you begin to notice all of the very unique design elements, and how well-engineered everything is considering the form-over-function, minimalist basis for a Mini. I have to admit it is a fun car to look at. INTERIOR: This is where the Mini really shines. The huge center speedometer, toggle switches, interior panel and upholstery designs all denote a retro-theme, but it's all really well done. No space is wasted. Indeed, the doors have a very well thought-out indent for your arm to rest in after the door is shut. The seats were great and very supportive. Truly, one of the nicest interior designs I've enjoyed EVER. Huge sunroof and a fully usable back seat? Awesome car!!! PERFORMANCE/HANDLING: The 6-speed manual and clutch are, by far, the best and smoothest performing powertrain I've enjoyed in a long time. The shifter is so smooth, and clutch take-up is so nice...just a real pleasure to drive. Hardly any work at all. The steering is great. Suspension is very solid, and it needs to be said that it rides amazingly for how small the car is. At no point did I feel like I was driving a small car; soaking up bumps with aplomb, combined with great outward visibiliity is very confidence-inspiring. The turbo has slight lag off the line, but 2-6 gears it's got a ton of performance. sounds great too. OVERALL: I was impressed on multiple levels with the Mini Cooper S: The quality engineering/design work, interior comfort/convenience, and performance. It really wasn't until late in the test-drive that I also remembered this car would be great on gas...something that I forgot about because of how fun it was to drive! I would definitely pick a used Mini Cooper S over a new Abarth (sorry, Alex) or used RX-8...but when you stack it up against a CTS-V or Jeep Wrangler Rubicon it falls short in my choice of a next vehicle. If I were planning on getting rid of the Passat, I would definitely look into a well-cared for and lightly modded turbo Cooper S as my daily driver. It really is that nice of a car!

I do find it funny that the only online promoting I do for C&C is through CR, yet our numbers continue to grow every weekend. Thanks to everyone that spreads the word!
