there should be a fast idle cam that increases engine speed when the choke is closed to make the engine warm up faster the fast idle cam may be worn broken or out of adjustment

your stock plug is a rc12yc so an rc9yc is three steps colder you could run also run a 3922 autolite but thats about maxed out in that plug style
