degrease and short test drive is probably all you can do if it only leaks under load check the pcv system also should be a plastic box looking seperator under the intake manifold if it goes bad it can cuase problems

I ran contour fans on my car after it ate the mark VIII fan worked great if you were not previously overheating and the fan still works I's look into the rest of the cooling system before you blame the fan

not a headgasket... there is a steel coolant tube that runs the length of the block pressed in behind the waterpump and its either rusted out or plugged up pull the tube out with a hook tool you'll probably have to fight it some as its been in there for about 60 years either clean it up if it looks decent or you can get a new one from engine rebuilders supply hth

thats a nice kit be good for street rods and stuff too and if megasquirt makes a kit that lets you run coil on plug with an ls1 pcm for an lt1 I'm a fighter pilot.... megasquirt is nice if your a cheapass but it doesn't come near the driveability you get with oem electronics
