  1. Is she trying to break into the big money field of Social Services, or does she want something else? I have friends that are social workers and they are some of the most depressed people I know. Anywho. Has she looked at the ODJFS jobsite? Also, finding a temp job in a big company is a great way to go. If you will notice my job history I knew someone at almost every job. Temping gets you on the path to knowing people. Or craigslist http://columbus.craigslist.org/hum/1299288287.html
  2. Jobs I have had in the past. Huntington Banks , network admin - Knew someone there UUNET/WorldCom/MCI , Internet Engineer - Knew someone there ODJFS , supervisor - Knew someone there Qwest , Team Lead - found it on their site Verizon Business , Internet Engineer - Knew someone there Aruba Wireless Networks , Trainer - Knew someone there Blue Coat, Sr SE - Knew someone there I have never found a job on a jobsite, I have been called for a few but almost 100% of them have been short term contracts. What kind of job, maybe I can offer some advice.

  7. I pay extra for it because it works. That is worth the extra price, that and the way I feel better than everyone that doesn't have a mac . Actually, I don't do alot of that techier-than-thou stuff. I like what I like and use the tools I choose.
  8. People always ask what I do after they hear about my job. I create Technical Enablement programs for a Silicon Valley tech company. Think of it like a training architect, but not for simple education but tools and technologies as well. I majored in Business.
  9. where do you teach tech?
  10. Just wondering if anyone else is a "work from home" type that wanted to start meeting regularly for coffee. When I am in town for a long stretch I get bored sitting around the house working.
  11. The working from home part keeps you with your family more, but the hours blow. You can become a digital nomad and work where the wifi is free, that will get you outta the house.
  12. I was stationed in Groton CT and we went to Mystic every now and then. I liked being told to "go back to the base you worthless squids". Or people asking us if there wasn't someplace we should be that wasn't bothering them. I guess Mystic residents don't like sailors. That all has probably changed post 9/11.
  13. Lets see. Wisdom Teeth in the Navy. Lower GI. Ingrown toe-nail. Vasectomy. Lasik. Yup. Did I mention that I don't react to normal amounts of novocaine?
  14. Jenny Creme is excellent, even in cans.
  15. Beaver Bay, Mn (its my home town). Quiet and tons of stuff to do.
  16. Tough time to be a newb. Might want to take a look where the economy isn't suffering as much as it is here.
