Crates work great for this. Feed them in the crate for a while, make the crate a fun place.

You should try putting it in your carryon.... If you have the gun unloaded, and are checking it, they don't care.
-
Pretty cool. I don't have the flow for it, but it seems cool.

Mac OS or Windows? I think if you right click purchases it will offer "check for purchases". I think if you buy them they are yours forever and you can redownload them again.

I have been doing this for a few years now. This company is by far the worst/best as far as making my liver swell. I don't end up screwing my co-workers but that's just me.

It never was bad. 11a is by far a better performing band, 13 available channels that don't compete with anything versus 3 available channels that compete with baby monitors, microwaves, bluetooth, whatever. Yes, because the higher freq, the range isn't as far. I don't know the exact calculations but I can tell you I can pick up A anywhere in my house and my AP is in the basement. G has a protect mode when any B channel is being used. The AP will start sending "b aware" headers in the DTIM and thus it drives the available bandwidth down. G, therefore, is slower than A. The way you cheat that is make the minimum connect rate 16meg. Then B cannot connect. I like A better because of the freq and available channels.

I need to get back to Amsterdam on business.

If your OS and wireless card supports full 802.11i (WPA2) I suggest using that. WPA is just wep with a larger Initialization Vector and is almost 10 years old now. If you are worried about security, you need to get away from the WEP hashing algorithm which is what WPA uses.

I like the older linksys stuff. Cisco made a play that I don't quite understand and aren't doing it very well IMHO. I have an open source WRTG54, but I don't use it much. The problem with residential stuff is that marketting is driving the perception of need, not the technology itself. If technology were the driving factor, WPA2 (Standard 802.11i) would be the only security option that used PSK. The Pre-Release 802.11n stuff would advertise the number of concurrent spacial streams, and we wouldn't have to listen to the guy at best buy tell us 11n is what we need. What we need is 11a. Anyway, back to your question, the Linksys stuff isn't as good anymore as far as running forever. I still have a wired only linksys router that works great.

It is Geeks, not Nerds. Kyocera KR2 is pretty bullet proof as far as my new fav wireless enabled router. Plus it can either be wired or EVDO Internet backhaul. The Mac thing is probably the worst security scheme you can come up with. WPA2-PSK with a very strong PSK is as good as you are going to get without enabling radius/.1x on your network. If I sniff your network and cannot get in, I can still see your mac address as the sending BSSID. If you aren't using Auth, you aren't doing much to protect yourself. I have a commercial grade Aruba box here that does everything you said. $2000 with 2 APs. $4000 if you want 802.11n.

I don't know how it all works, I know the bartender and waitstaff got pretty big tips which they will in turn pay taxes on. Yes, we hire all the time. Not around here, but we do hire. Working for Silicon Valley companies is my new hobby.

Yes, the Dick Pound one actually made my laugh rather uncontrollably.

Last week I was in San Jose California for a two week stint of meetings that ended with everyone going out to dinner. We meet in the lobby. I throw my credit card at the bar tender and tell him to open a tab for my company. I say there will be like 18 people, we are going to do a pile of drinking. He drops by 20 minutes later to ask if these 6 guys are also included, yes. The VP shows up and exchanges her card for mine. I put a large group of girls' drinks on my tab if they will let me in line ahead of them so I can get the VP and myself fresh drinks. The bartender comes around with $350 bill, says he doesn't let them get any bigger. We sign and keep going. Another hour goes by and everyone starts wondering about dinner. I head over to the closest 4 star place and get reservations for 18 in 30 minutes, the guy at the host desk was very happy as the place was a little dead due to a tattoo convention and no one eating the $50 steaks. We close the bar tab, another $300. We all eat a full blown 3 course with wine. The bill shows up after desert for another $1700. The VP has been with the company 20 minutes and already she is horking down a $2300 night. NICE! Business people are doing all they can to keep the economy rolling.

I fly 200,000 or so miles per year and I am at the point where I don't even attempt to understand the fare system. I have flown next to people on last minute fares that have paid next to nothing, and I have sat in the back in the middle having paid thousands. It is a strange system. I can tell you this. Each municipality has a tax associated with planes originating at their airport, this is why DAY is way cheaper to depart from than CVG. So, smaller airports have more expensive flights. If you are willing to drive, you can fly to JAX and drive to Savannah (it isn't that far).
-
Right now Delta shows the least expensive for that flight.

Less than 21 day tickets are sometimes a bit spendy. look directly with the airline first, often your best bet.

Ubuntu is for ease of use. CentOS is primarily used when you have loads of scripting or process intensive applications. I would suggest finding one you like, that is secure.

I use a Kyocera KR2 with a pcmcia EVDO card in it from Verizon. It has piles of latency, but probably not as bad as satellite. I did get IDSL installed, 144K (syncronous) and it is much lower latency. Bandwidth Delay Product is the measure of real thru-put not the up/down speed. I can get REV-A speeds when I am not home as most Rev-A enabled towers are near densly packed areas.

If you are willing to move, move to somewhere that doesn't suck.... I bet Vegas has plenty o opportunity for graphics.
