We ended up buying this just a little bit ago. Just got home and getting it setup. Probably got talked into a little overkill but hopefully it'll last her awhile. Haven't heard about the Kahn academy but she already has a normal iPad. We're looking for an actual computer as they have a lot of online hw and just hw in general a computer is needed for and we want her to have her own. They have been using computers for hw for the past couple years, she's just gotten by on our home desktop for now. Planning to checkout microcenter, Costco and best buy... Anything else we should look at?

Looking to get a new laptop/tablet for the kid. Prefer to spend around $300 but can spend up to $500 if feel it's that much better. Prefer touchscreen and windows, otherwise completely in the dark. Thanks

Congrats! I sometimes wish we had a 2nd, but not very often, lol. +1 to having balls snipped. I did it a few years back and it wasn't a big deal at all. I had my daughter when I was 19, she's almost 10 now and been the best thing that's ever happened to me. Sure I sometimes used to wish I was 5-10 years older, more established, etc, but I wouldn't change anything. I'm able to do nearly anything with her and on the flip side she'll be going to college when I'm 37.... Time flies way too fast so I'm not necessarily looking forward to that day happening anytime soon but it's cool to think about as well.

Always debate on having ours done but after hearing the quotes I'm not so sure what the benefit is? I did ours this year on H&R Block's website, it was $72 and took me maybe an hour. Between that and Turbo Tax some years and the fact that it walks you through everything why do people choose to have it done? Or is it just because people are lazy? LOL
