  1. That is good for all if Vince goes pro, with Vince out of the picture, we could have three strong Heisman candidate, Troy Smith, Ted Ginn JR , and Antonio Pittman.

Pittman will have to fight off the freshman coming in. Did anyone see him light up the all star game?

See the thread below on Chris Wells.

  2. I bought a 2002 GTI 1.8T new - I thought it was pretty cool and was trying to make a more "sensible" purchase than my 3 V8 F-bodies in a row(read get my wife off of my ass for my toys). It was black, had leather, 17" wheels - all the bells and whistles - 13 months later I traded it in and lost 2500 in the process. It was in the shop 4 times in the first year for all kinds of stuff - left me stranded twice. I gladly took the 2500 asswhipping to get out from under it. They are a POS.
  3. I would do the cam and headers first. Nitrous is cheaper and will put out a little more power but it does have its tradeoffs. Besides, a cammed LS1 sounds cool! You can safely run a 75-100 shot with the proper tuning. I know some here will argue you can go bigger but you are playing russian roulette with a shot bigger than 100 - especially without supporting mods.
  4. My wife has an 02 Suburban Z71 - we love it but you might check to see if the air conditioning compressor has been replaced on any of the trucks you are looking at. It is a known problem that the compressors go bad - of course it hit me right after the warranty expired - hit me for 1,200. The dealer of course denies that this is a known problem but my internet research showed that he was not bing completely truthful. Other than that we have not had any problems and the gas mileage is in the teens. We pull a 6000 pound trailer regularly in the summer.
  5.

I would never advise any good credit borrower go sub prime to avoid PMI there are too many options for them conforming.

I have - there are times when sub-prime is simply the better option. However there is no need to argue sub prime vs prime. There are tons of options available out there. My point is just that "sub prime" does not mean it is a worse deal or not as good as a prime loan - each type of loan has advantages and disadvantages. You are absolutely right - it is imperative you ask a lot of questions. Make sure you know to ask a "disinterested" third party for advice if you are uncomfortable. You WILL get burned and pay more than necessary if you do not take your time!

  6. Greg - pretty good summary of our industry (I have been in the mortgage industry 10 yrs). Something you also need to keep in mind is on a "prime" loan the rate may be good but you will probably have PMI (private mortgage insurance). This is an insurance policy that a lender takes out to help cover any losses that may occur if they have to foreclose on a house. PMI kicks in at loan to values > 80%. So if you are putting < 20% down you will likely have to pay PMI. The amount of the PMI depends on your credit and how much you put down - it can be VERY significant 100-200 / month. Obviously the less you put down the more risk of loss to the lender - so the cost of the PMI goes up. This is why many people with perfect credit may go to a sub-prime lender - they can offer higher loan to values (loan amount / value of home) with no PMI. They get their profits in the rate rather than PMI. Remember that home interest is tax deductible while PMI is not. You can have the PMI removed after you have built enough equity in the home but it is a pain in the butt.

Moral of the story - avoid PMI if you can!

  7. No you haven't, or else you wouldn't doubt a team you've been a "huge fan" of.

Steelers will own the Colts. Manning will have his worse game of the season and will be terrified by Troy Polamalu.

Are you serious?? Just because you are a fan does not mean you have to believe they will win every game. I hope you are right about them "owning" the Colts. However, any reasonable person would have to give the nod to the Colts after watching the Steelers struggle against the Baltimorons and the Colts lighting up the Bengals.

  8. I have been a huge Steelers fan all of my life but I cannot see them beating the Colts. However, I do think they will have a better plan than Cincy did. Cincy hung in there and played well but I do not understand why they went out and tried to beat the Colts doing what the Colts do best. I guess it is probably what Cincy does best too but I just don't see the point in trying to air it out against them. I will say that Indy's defense is not as good as people think it is and Pitt will move the ball. I think Pitt will try to keep the ball away from Peyton - your only hope against them.
  9. Hard to pick against Indy - 8-0. I am a Steelers fan but don't want any of the Colts right now. With any luck they are peaking to soon like we did last year. The Steelers need to get healthy.

No one can seriously be picking the Bengals for a Super Bowl yet....you have to be able to stop the run and they just don't right now.

I think at this point Indy and Carolina are on a collision course to meet in the Super Bowl. With the Colts favored by 7 and an over under of 49.

  10. And Casey why dont you shut your face, some people had stuff that they had to do at the last minute.

If you weren't sure you could be there don't sign up - it's that simple.....or prepay so that Cofba does not eat it. I did not single you out either - there were 41 names on the list - 27 showed up - that means 14 people said they would be there and did not show. I was at the last 3 Cofba track days - I was not sure I could clear my schedule so I did not sign up. I just hate that a couple of the members here put in a lot of effort for it to cost Cofba money - does not make any sense. If Cofba had known only 27 cars would show I am certain it would have been cancelled.

  11. I had neither a "Sam" or an "Andrew" show up today, so I'm going with the latter. ;)

COFBA ate enough of the cost today that we'll probably only have one track day next year. If we can't get at least 40 - 60 people to come and offset the price, it costs us money and that's no fun... :(

Looks like everyone can't be adults and we need to go to a "prepay system". How do you sign up and then not go....wow...we should send everyone who signed up then ditched a bill.
