  1. It’s all fun and games until you get rolled by Carol in her Honda Odyssey at the stoplight drags :). Nice pick up, I really like how they look and the driving position, I just could not get used to the lack of power - even if I rarely use it.

Thankfully, you have a plan and can fix the only flaw!

  2. It's the same 8 speed that's in my A5 and for an auto, it's not bad. Kicks down quickly, downshifts appropriately and at the right time when slowing down. Better than the DSG though...I dunno.

Speaking of B9s, I drove a loaner for about a month...they really nailed it with the interior on those. Except for the front cup holders, my travel coffee mug hits the touch sensitive climate control buttons every time I take it out

I did LOVE the new interior

  3. Every ounce of me wants to give you shit for getting an "auto", but it sounds like a fun car being dual clutch. Maybe I just need to ride in one to see how it really feels. I still prefer my fun car to be of the manual variety, but my daily is an auto. With all of my newly found nerve issues I may have to stay auto for a daily. Who knows.

I relentlessly bashed users here about how a DCT was just an auto no matter how badly they wanted to say it wasn’t. Jones especially. Then I drove one. If you punch it, it will do full throttle upshifts that sound and feel like the best power shift I have ever experienced. One where a manual driver does not lift on the gas when shifting. It results in the “Audi fart” almost like a backfire when it shifts. It is pretty awesome.

  4. Thanks all - it is great to commute in so far. No way Inwould have pulled the trigger on an S4 without the convos with Trey. I still find it hard to believe it is “only” 333 HP - it feels stronger than that around town. It does fall on its face a bit > 70 MPH but I don’t spend a lot of time making runs > 70.
  5. I’m jelly. I’ve been looking HARD at B8 S4s the last couple weeks, but I think I’ve accepted the fact that I really “need” a crew cab truck. Congrats.

Once I drove one I knew it was the right call for me. I was not sold on the looks until I saw one with the “black optics” package. It essentially blacks out all of the chrome. I think it should be standard. The only negative is you lose the brushed aluminum mirror caps.

  6. I just want to point out, Casey did this before, has nice LS car, then some import thing, then back to LS car. You sir are predictable.

This is true - but I have always wanted an AWD car so we’ll see how this goes. The other 2 were both fWD turbo 4s...hated the FWD.

  7. No LS motor:

I know, but remember this is the “daily”. An LS powered toy is in the future once I build my pole barn.

This thing is quick, sounds good, and is fun to toss into corners. AWD is a bonus. It has an extended warranty so I will probably wait on modifications but they respond incredibly well to a few mods.

This one has some nice options: sports diff and the wood/aluminum interior trim. 1 owner, 24k miles and a little more than half the original sticker.

  8. Well after selling the Camaro I kicked around a ton of options for a fun car that I could daily drive. I was driving our Suburban back and forth to work and I wanted to kill myself now that it is 17 miles. After considering and driving the BMW 435, Cadillac CTSV, and Chevy SS, I ended up with a 2015 Audi S4. It was really not even close.

I owe an apology to all those I criticized for arguing the DCT was different than an auto. Given how I will use this (aka heavy traffic on 23) I wanted an auto. The DCT made the S4 more fun to drive than the others. A few quick pics:

Special thanks to Trey (IV Rings) for taking me for my first test drive in an S4 and answering my many questions as he searched for a vehicle for me. Unfortunately, I needed to buy before my wife found something else to spend the money on and I found what I thought was a great deal. Thanks also to Tim Lauro for filling in additional info on the S4.

  9. I will say that these cars look incredible. I miss my c6z. will wait to see how good these cars perform, how easily they take to mods, and most importantly, reliability.

Love the looks of that dark blue with the low spoiler.

Not sure if you were in the other thread but dude took a new ZR1 with the auto with no mods but DRs and ran 10.1. They are in the 10s with no mods.
