  1.

Should we talk about the disappointing 7:12 ring time for the ZR-1 that was set on the same day the new 520hp GT3 RS went 6:56?

There is nothing official about the 7:12 time. There is no question the ZR1 is faster than that given the ZL1 1LE and Z06 times. If they are not able to beat that it will be pretty lame.

  2. Thing feels HUGE but is bad ass. I am trying to keep it under 40k so a I can get a Vette as a toy in a few years.

If I was smart I would just buy the Lexus IS350 F sport I drove, drive the wheels off of it, invest 0 in repairs/mods and such and pave the way to a Corvette sooner. But that makes too much sense.

  3. someone brought one to CCC last year. It's actually the only one I have seen in the wild.

I think the more important question is Why is nobody buying the ATS-V? used 2016 models have already taken a $20K depreciation hit.

You can actually still get NEW 2016s - at a 20k discount. It is actually why the ATSV is on my list - it is a little more than I want to pay but close enough I have to consider. Looking to spend 30-35k - they are 38-42k with 15k miles. They also came out in 2016 so there should be some lease turn ins coming soon.

Why don’t they sell? I think too expensive / too small. GM put all of the $$ in the chassis and performance and skimped where their customers don’t like it - the interior. Just my opinion

  4. Lol - it is a daily driver. I don’t need a 10 second daily. The fastest car I have owned was my Camaro which was probably a high 11 sec car...maybe. It was not useful as a DD. Whatever I get will be kept close to stock to maintain DD status. I sat in a Charger today and it simply felt way too big. While not much smaller the SS feels way smaller. I like an “athletic” feeling car - not all about the power. Even though I admit that 707 HP is awesome.
  5. ATS chassis is insanely small. If you are over 6 foot you'll get a face of b pillar when you look left, and the back seats are useless.

This is what I am worried about - that and no V8. I am certain I will love the tossable chassis and I absolutely love the styling. Interior is meh but I have been in GMs all my life so am used to that.

  6. There are deals to be had on leases but it is just not me. I used to lease all of the time and have never been burned but I prefer to buy. I have gotten much better at keeping cars - all of my cars have been owned over 3 years.

Thanks Kirk - I appreciate it. Glad to hear I am not the only one impressed with the SS overall. I don’t need to be the fastest but don’t want to have minivans with more power :)

  7. I am not sure how far from stock the CTSV I drove was (knew it was the wrong color so did not dig in) but man did it pull hard.

I have read about mods on the BMws and it is crazy. Apparently you can get 500+ wheel HP out of an ATSV with just a tune as well. We are living in the golden age!

Are the 335/435s underrated? It pulled really hard for a 300 HP car.

  8. I have the gimpy CTS 3.6l model with every other feature except the V8 and I love the car. Could only imagine how much more fun the V8 would be.

I loved the CTSV I drove but it wasn’t in great shape. It also had a few mods I could see on it and was not the right color for me. It pulled like a freight train and, given it had at least an aftermarket air intake, the wail of the supercharger was smile-inducing. It also had a Corsa exhaust. The interior was very dark - would love to find one with the lighter interior.

  9. No way could I see you in a BMW.... You without an LS motor? Whaaaaaat?

I know right? I really liked the SS - way more than I expected to. It is not a “pretty” car - both Cadillacs, to me, are better looking, but I liked the feel of the SS better than the CTSV I drove.

  10. So I sold my Camaro to get a fun daily. I have narrowed my choices down to a Gen 2 CTSV, a Chevy SS, or an ATSV. I test drove a CTSV and an SS this week. I knew I would love the CTSV but was shocked at how much I liked the SS. I also drove a BMW 435i XDrive Grand Coupe and it should have been my favorite. The interior was the nicest, it was the most advanced, it was even pretty....but, to me, it was boring. I didn’t WANT it. As car people I am sure you get that. My non-car guy friend thought I was crazy.

Anyways, I cannot find an ATSV to look at or drive. Does anyone have one that would be willing to meet up? I would even buy lunch!
