When you say a "couple" and I hear "2". Its alot more than 2 hp, rwhp or flywheel. We all use the same T56 and we all used the same driveline % when we'd debated this endlessly on the vette/svt forums in summer/fall 2002. I thought this was generally agreed upon by spring 03. Maybe when you say a "couple" you mean 10 to 20.Originally posted by Nitrousbird:Don't forget these flywheel numbers you are giving are calculated based on an estimated driveline loss. So you really should get an estimated flywheel number, not EXACT. Regardless, the LS6 w/ estimated driveline loss also comes in at above 405HP at the flywheel. That's the point I'm making....the LS2 from everything being said about it, should as well, and perhaps more-so.
I like the GTO's paint and hood scoops. And interior - BUT DAMN THEY NEED SOME BETTER WHEEL OPTIONS!

Blocks are. Heads and headgaskets are another story...Originally posted by iwishiwascool:Is that kid on this board?
PS. A number of forged internal 4 cyls can pretty easily take a 150 shot. Obviously they are few and far between, but their blocks are fully intact.

Never said rwhp. I thought you were talking flywheel - you're not saying the GTO is putting 400 to the road? I don't think you're saying that - although that would be nice, and I'd be trading in as soon as I got done begging my wife to let me (or waiting on an 06 cobra to see what it comes up with... who am I kidding my next car is going to be a minivan, familytime starting soon - wah). As for the snakes, mine did 419 crank, stock, 1000miles on the odo, right off a 20mile highway drive (literally) in 92 degree heat with 74% humidity, in the sun, Brian's mobile chassis dyno. Bone stock down to the paper filter. And heck mine was a mid to low-mid performer (later found out it was the cats). The average had ~5hp over me and it wasn't uncommon to have mine beat by like 20hp, again bone stock. The Cobras aren't just a little underrated.Originally posted by Nitrousbird:I'll take real-world dyno results over GM advertising....which we will have to wait for. It's been a proven fact the LS6 is underated, yet that dyno sheet shows exactly 405HP, so I don't see how that can be considered accurate at all.
Alright, we all know the Cobra is underated at 390 flywheel HP, but please show me any bone STOCK 03-04 Cobra putting down 400HP to the wheels (other than a doctored-up dyno, that reads high for everyone). ANY. I'm not asking you to find any LS6 doing it, because there aren't any of those either.

It is. Worship the suede, biatch! tongue.gifOriginally posted by Nitrousbird:Though that OPTIONAL color scheme may not be your taste, I sure hope you don't actually think your Cobra's interior is anywhere close to as nice as the GTO's.
Ok I'll admit its not as nice. But it ain't that far back. GTO seats vs 03-04 Cobra seats? Sat in a GTO and played with the seat for 10 minutes trying to get it to feel good. Not a contest at all - Cobra.
Still I like the GTO dash ALOT. With this engine, now thats something worth looking at.
As for horsepower, I don't see that LS2 equaling it - you got saddled with a pretty crappy example of a Cobra if all you're putting out is ~400hp stock.
Still - sweet car. I may have to go sit in one and drool if any dealers round here can keep one on the lot long enough.

Let me try harder: you're dumb. tongue.gifOriginally posted by Republicant:Thanks for trying to insult my intelligence for not liking the movie, though.

Some people "get" Signs, most people don't. If you get it, its one of the scariest flicks there is, and so ditto for The Village. If you've got no braincells or imagination, er, I mean, if you don't care for that sort of thing... then you won't like The Village.
Conclusion: If all your neurons are firing, Village = good. tongue.gif
Otherwise - go watch a titty flick. Hmm, maybe I'll watch a titty flick AND see the Village...

Italy rocked. Rome, Venice, Florence. You'll have a blast.
Paris, unlike amazingly the rest of France, sucked my left nut. Poorly.

You people crack me up with the idea that sports cars with 40 and 50 yr heritages to pull back on steal from 5 yr old flash-in-the-pans.
"The EVO started the HP war..."
"The Corvette stole from the NSX..."
"The Mustang stole from the Nissan 280Z..."
"Daffy Duck stole from the Telly Tubbies..."
blah
blah
blah
Fucking hilarious.

Paul Allen. Who's right up there with Bill, pert near.
The two of them are probably going to get matching rockets. And it'd cost them less apiece relatively than most of us buying a beater car. By way of comparison, $20 million is relative to Bill's annual income like 4 days income or some such. And Allen is right there as a co-founder.
*sigh* Money is nice...
"Hey Bill, Paul here, lets go buy us some rockets! I'm getting a blue one."

You didn't mention that you "rally raced" it to anyone at the dealership, did you? Because if you did, you're pretty much screwed, and no amount of "the car is made for it" arguements are going to help you. If you did mention it, never mention it again, and hope it slipped past them.

Ansari's X Prize, $10 million. They've already got $20 million in it, and Ratan's said ~they weren't inspired by the X Prize, but they'll take the cash infusion when they get it, lol. I thought that was a nice way of putting it. X Prize aside, that was history right there and it snuck up on me, Ratan and Melvill's names are going in the books.

Very nice, way to go!

Talk about low tech: cable and wire control linkages (its actually flown by the pilot, there's a thought). Oh - and that ship burns old tire rubber to make thrust, no kidding.

The 03 Cobras were on the streets and in owner's hands in May of 02. I got mine early June 02 even having had waited thru 3 delays and one dealer change to get one. It was for all purposes an 02 model, Ford just called it an 03 because they didn't want to go thru all the CAFE and noise shit twice in one fiscal year(separated by only one quarter). There was never a shortage on the engines, the biggest production delay about that time resulted from a bad batch of hoods from one of the subcontractors.

Yes, +1 to stopping the hp race while I'm on top.
