At its price point, it is competing with the Ferrari 360. It may outperform the 360 (hell, so does the 911 Turbo), but I (and many other buyers in this price catagory.....not that I could afford one) would rather own a Ferrari.

But it is a sweet car. It's just too bad they couldn't keep the price down to 100k. That would have hit HARD on the 911 Turbo sales, what few sales Acura can even make on the NSX would have been hurt more, and the Viper would have definately lost a number of sales too. The car is simply priced out of its primary market, which sucks because I'd love to see them on the road on a regular basis.

Um at $150k there's not another car that can touch it. Not at $200k either. So why does it need to be $100k versus its $134k?

Oh and I read recently that the Brits over at Top Gear, on returning to look at it again later for a second go round quoted as saying it was put together better than the Porsche, as evidenced by the state of the chassis and interior after a couple months of heavy track use, the Porsches (3 of them) all had more squeaks than the production GT. And obviously better than the Ferrari (but then thats not saying much that's like out-qualitying an old Ducati: all sexiness, zero reliability).

I'm guessing you don't like Ford playing in the supercar class. Course, neither did Ferrari 1966 smile.gif

But I absolutely positively agree on hoping it'd be priced lower, I want one.

  2. You download the SETI screensaver. When you're not using your pc and a "regular" screensaver would normally come on, the SETI screensaver runs. While it does show you some gooblygook on the screen to look at an entertain, and to save your screen also I guess, the program is also processing data handed out to it by the central SETI computers.

See SETI records so much space radio traffic (and other EM energy too I imagine) that its impossible for it to sort thru all of it with its own computers, especially since SETI lost US government funding in the 90s. So they devised this as a way to distribute the workload. The SETI screensaver periodically downloads new data from the SETI computers and analyzes it, returns the findings, and asks for more. Rinse repeat.

Supposedly, if your computer is the one analyzing the data that turns up a potential source, you're supposed to get partial credit for the discovery.

The calculations are substantial. Your PC would probably be working harder with this during its downtime than when you are actively using it (large 3D games notwithstanding).

  3. The original Predator was tall indeed. You older farts probably remember him he was the tall black SKINNY (and I do mean skinny) nerd on some TV show about nerds doing wacky science stuff in a highschool in the '80s. I heard he died from health complications of some such or other back in the 1990s, but I digress... The point being those predators were tall, yes, but like Bandwagon pointed out, THESE predators were not only tall but also built like frigging brick walls. The boyscout-troop-camping-trip-leader predator in particular was one steroidal mutherfukker.

But, er, the aliens also seemed buffed up. Bred for hunting perhaps?

As for Sigourney vs Arnold in the seckzy, I don't know, Ahnuld has bigger boobage...

  4. The 05 Mustang draws from - at least according to the designer interviews in my SVTOA rag: the '66 coupe, the GT350, the '70 boss and the '99+ new edge styling. No Monaros, imports, airplanes, rockets, shaving equipment, animals or other doo dads copied. There's more than enough in its own stable to draw upon. But thats a benefit to actually having heritage tongue.gif ...heritage being something only the Corvette also possesses (and no, being around since the way-back 1980s don't give ya heritage, younguns).

    Where's my geritol?

  5. Oh hush you mallard. FRont end and hood scoops? I said aside from the front end didn't I?

But folks trying to claim there's no resemblance at all (born from their hate of Mustangs) earned a rebuttal. I gave it.

Had I been able to find a pic of the 05 Mustang at the same higher height angle as the GTO there it would have been even worse an identity. They share the same overall dimensional percentages. Deck length to hood length, door size to overall length, cabin height to overall height, wheel placement, roofline, width ( though this GTO has done so with flares), mirrors, side scoopes behind the door, etc etc etc etc. The GTO is curvier but the bodyshape is idento. Hell they both have split fiver spoker wheels.

Anyhoo I'm not ragging on it - I'm a big fan of the GTO stocker and this employee concept car. I'm also a fan of the Mustang. So what about "looks like a Mustang" is an insult for you?

  6. Caught a glimpse of a commercial for a new football game coming out that looked really amazing. Not sure if its to be for the X-box, PS2, cube, PC or what. In fact my sorry memory can't even dredge up the title. So if anyone has any info on upcoming or newly released football games -I'm all ears. Any help appreciated.

Barring that - whats the best football game out there for sale now, if I shouldn't just wait for this new one? I own a PS2 but would be willing to go buy an XBox of it was that much better.

    Thx in advance for opinions.
