  5. engine vs engine - not car vs car - so far that engine looks better than the LSx line. alot better. I may be dropping the V sometime soon for one of these (once the kid is out of a carseat).
  6. Android, open source. The writing is on the wall. Its only a matter of time.
  7. The 200hp GTi... so those two guys aren't going anywhere fast either.
  8. 350,000 Japanese did not die from the atomic attacks. And using even the most exaggerated numbers, the deathtoll was not even near those resulting from the conventional firebombings of Tokyo. Or the bombings of Dresden. Or the sacking and pillaging of China. Poland. The Jews. Russia... Estimates from a conventional mainland Japan invasion were 2million Japanese dead. No apology necessary. They can thank us though if they wish. Especially as how after the war was over we set them up to be a world dominating 21st century economy better than they could ever have done themselves. No amount of decades of brutal Japanese imperialism accomplished what American rebuilding investment and charity post-1945 did for Japan. But, if we want to be magnanimous, ok yeah we did apologize for that. And let us not forget they apologized to us first, too. But we're good that way. If you ever want to lose a war, we're the country to lose it to, bar none. One last thing: war between two soveriegn states is different than guerilla warfare (either by us pre-declaration circa 1774 or Al-Qaeda 2004). And WWII didnt even introduce the concept of strategic war, wherein you attack a whole country, including its citizenry, not just its military. That was old even when Ghenghis Khan did it. But WWII was the epitomy of it; all combatants practiced it. Around the globe. All combatants practiced the slaughter of civilians. That was a first. Even if Ghenghis still holds the record for killing 1 in 7 of every human being on planet earth in his day. If we're going to invoke history, lets remember all of it, accurately. We were the heros of WWII. No amount of present day dumb-assery on our part will change that.
  9. that was good. by the end i was rooting for them both: a full rewind do-over.

  15. That is a shitty view out their rear window. Hick.
  16. Kickass - you're mixing up individual models with brand rankings. Whats even more interesting is that Porsche as a brand is near the top while VW as a brand is near the bottom, or at the bottom. AJ - I think that means you can chalk that quality difference squarely on the shoulders of the manufacturing workers. Since the designs and many of the components themselves are near identical. PontiacFreak142 - they mentioned it was a statistically balanced sampling, then the sample criteria were spelled out in the pdf. I'm pretty sure they accounted for volume evenly across the polling. Still, no way to correct the fact that one maker sells thousands of cars while the other sells 10x that. Regardless quality is quality: Honda and Ford production numbers both far outdo Chevy's for example.
  17. Some surprises. Some not surprising. But here's one surprise: 7 of the top 10 cars for reliability were built by Ford or GM. Porsche was the most reliable brand. Then Lincoln at #2. Then in order: Buick, Lexus, Mercury, Toyota, and then Honda. "All three Ford brands — Ford, Lincoln and Mercury — beat the industry average. But the news wasn't all good for Detroit. At GM, only Cadillac and Buick topped the industry average; its Saturn, GMC, Hummer, Chevrolet and Saab brands still fell below average." All of this lends credence to the domestics claim they get a bum wrap in product PR. BTW - this was a 3yr study of 52,000 vehicles from 2007. So it wasnt some small sample, just-off-the-lot bullshit.
