pre-installed apps that cant be uninstalled still suck. Pre-install anything you like on my new phone, but don't lock me out of uninstalling it. Once I bought it its mine. Its kind of the whole point of open source that the droid is founded on.

There's a difference between saying a prayer to and worshipping. Also, you dont pray to nor worship priests. They are more like assists in getting your message to god. Sort of like doing down court alone or with another teammate in the break. Its more helpful to have that assist, someone to pass the ball back and forth to as you go for the hoop. But you don't need him there. Also, as for confession, you're confessing to god, but the priest is there to help you interpret your issues and help with figuring out an atonement that makes sense. In that sense they are councilers along the lines of Rabbis. and so on... Well, I gotta back up the OT here: just got my wife the Droid X and while its not as bad as that article, Verizon has indeed installed a shit ton of bloatware on there, has overlaid a shitty skin over the android OS and munged up a bunch of features that work just fine in the original OS. Will be rooting this bitch and yanking that shitoff in its entirety as soon as I find a decent X rom. Makes me glad I got a Droid 1 - before these companies had figured out how to fuck up their products with shitware/adware/crapware/bloatware/jailware. All big companies suck. Just reaffirms my belief that buying phones from vendors separate from your carrier is always the best way to go.

Thats funny, I have a Verizon droid I got from Best Buy, a still on Verizon and upgraded to 2.2 abit ago. I have none of the crapware you guys are mentioning on my phone. Odd. I'm not complaining. --------------------------------------------------------- BTW - let me speak as a software developer, and not someone who sells phones: Androids "just work" too. Thats part of why their sales figures are passing Apple's. All the tweaking and twixing, tuning and hacking is far more possible and powerful on them than on iphones so thats why you read about it more. It doesnt have any relevence or correlation to how well the vanilla devices work right out of the box. Which, btw, Gartner is collecting data on, on all mobility devices. Looking very forward to when they publish THAT data... Anyway, the Apple fanboy advertising mantra of "it just works" is tired, old, and false. Give me 5 mins on an apple desktop, ipad or iphone and I guarantee can completely lock it up/crash it to hard boot. We do it daily at work. They're more stable than some and less stable than others. Their shit's not anywhere near the top of the stability heap. Oh, and I've been writing software for mainframes, PCs, all unix flavors, Macs, rim, droid, iphones, you name it for coming up on 30 years. Ok so I unrooted and updated my Moto Droid to Froyo and then today to FRG22D. Flash went on. Went to root again... and apparently what I used to root on 2.1 doesnt work. Found some root techniques for 2.2 but they say they only work on 2.2 build FRG01B, not FRG22D.
