thanks! i get to get up tomorrow, work another 8 hours, and get some dinner on my g/fs parents. to me, its just another day anymore. i remember when there was usually something to be excited for on birthdays (drivers license, buy tobacco/lottery tickets, booze)...the only thing im waiting on now is golden buckeye. HA

i thought about redoing the stone, but i think im going to like having a deck more than a new stone patio. i did the lowes design builder thing, and it lists everything needed, but doesnt even have a price estimate for all the pieces. im hoping i can do it for under $2k

eh. not horrible, i guess. im gonna talk it over w/ my g/fs dad tomorrow. he used to build houses, so hopefully he can help me with a deck. only thing is, he's got a bum arm and will be out of comission for a few months. the good side of his bum arm? hes been out of work for over 2 years, and has nothing to do all day, so he loves to get out and do something whenever he can.

tim - i planned on leaving the brick patio there, and if i need to put a support post, remove what i need to add it, instead of tearing up everything. extra hands would be sweet. im sure its gonna end up taking me a few weekends, unless i just take off a week from work to burn up my PTO and knock it all out... how much do permits cost to add a deck?
-
anyone done this on their own or with help (ie, not hiring a company)? have any suggestions? maybe ideas on what it may cost to build? im finally coming across some $$ i've been waiting for, and theres a couple things here at my house i want to get done ASAP...i thought i wanted it to be about 15x20, but after going out with measuring tape, im thinking 16x22 is going to be a little better. it wont sit high off the ground (1-2' max) and it will be over my brick patio thats out there now. i know im going to have to get 2x8's to anchor into the house, 4x4s cemented into the ground, decking, railing, etc. ill have a couple sets of hands helping me out...just want to know if theres anything to watch out for.

guy at work is a landlord, said that by law, they have 30 days from when i vacate to send me a final bill. im going to send the C&D to the agency tomorrow
-
thats how much boost it has...duh! i was reading when the hurricane hit back in like september, docs in texas have been seeing an increase in patients...i think it was up like 20%. there was just an article on MSN 2-3 weeks ago about it.

me trying to "beat" it at this point would be out of spite for them fucking us over for this little amount. im not disputing i owe them from the time i moved out to the time they leased it again. im just furious that they made no attempt to contact me before sending it to collections. i gotta run to officemax and get my own recorder...i borrowed the one i used earlier from the doctor my mom works for, but he needs it back...i was hoping this would be done, but it looks like its gonna be strung out. oh well...$34 for the recorder, $9 for 2 tapes, and $24 for the recording mic/earphone thing

90 year old repost! lol

im pretty sure i can handle this myself i called the complex, spoke to the manager. she is making excuses that she did not have a forwarding address for me..this is BS because it was on our notice to vacate, AND the check i gave her and said "heres my new address and same cell #, contact me for the final bill". she agreed that she did not send me anything showing the remaining balance, but still sent it to this collection agency. i pointed out that she never called me or my g/f to say there was a balance due, and neither of our cell phone #s have changed. shes supposed to be calling me back today, and im going to have my trusty call recorder waiting for it.
-
i know what it is. ive picked up the call recorder this morning. tried calling once but no one answered the phone.
-
i dont think its either of those. im not going to post up the complex/management just yet...once its done and over with, ill be more than happy to though.

not in the department im in. disputes usually have do be done in a certain amount of time, with us, its 60 days. the stuff i collect on is 210+ days delinquent. i think in 2 years, i could probably count on 1 hand the number of accounts that shouldnt have gotten that far...figure i call ~100 accounts a day, ~250 days/yr, 2 years...its a verrrry low %. most of it gets weeded out in our collections before write off i think it was, if im remembering correctly (since its been a couple years), she did have to take pay stubs in. regardless though, i always paid the rent...they said because she was over 18, she had to be on the lease to live there. all they had to do was call me and say "hey, your final amount due is XXX" and it would have been done. shady that they sent her to collections a) without contacting us and b) NOT ME! i didnt get a collections letter, only her. both of our names were on the lease! im going to radio shack in a bit to pick up a call recording device, hopefully the one i found is not site-to-store only so i can get this taken care of today. if not, ill just have to order it and take care of it in a few days...
-
yeah, and she would have to have an account there for me to even pull it...i dont have anything to pull a credit report on just anyone. ill probably try first to contact the company and see if i can get a dummy to disclose information to me without her permission, and go after them for FDCPA 3rd party disclosure. if not, shoot them a validation request, and if they get that far and its not on her credit report, ill try to settle it out.

just want some opinions on how you might handle this...doing collections, ive got a pretty good idea, but i wouldnt mind hearing something else. end of march, i bought a house, and moved out of my apartment. i paid rent through march 29 (moved out on the 28th), did walk thru with maintenence, he noticed 2-3 little things id have to cover. i went back to the office with him, talked to the manager. gave her a check for the 1/2 off 1st month i got (had to pay back for not going full 13 months on lease) and $199 for releasing. all together, it was under $500. she said she would have to add up the things maintenence marked down, and she would send me a bill for the final amount. no big deal. i give her the check, with my new mailing address (which was also on my notice to vacate), as well as my cell # on the check (same as what they have on file since i moved in)...ive got the copy of the check on my bank statement to show this so i dont get any letters, any calls, anything. guy at work is a landlord on the side, and told me they have to bill me within 30 days of me leaving, so i figure they werent going to bill me. fast forward to today. i get a text from my GF, who says she got a letter from a collection agency saying she owes $246. now this pisses me off because #1, her credit report will now show a collection account #2, she never did anything with the complex. only had her name on the lease because she was a resident over 18. I ALWAYS paid the rent for the 2 years 10 months i lived there. never once did she pay it. #3, they made no attempt to contact me (or her for that matter) to pay it. its fucking $246. why would i go in, voluntarily give you a check to reimburse you for a concession and releasing fee without even being asked for it by them, and then try to skip out on $246 so now ive got to deal with this agency over some BS. i know what i can do about this as far as FDCPA/FCRA/FACT act, just trying to see if anyone else has dealt with some complete bullshit like this...

house was built in 1985, so its the same age as me. the windows are probably the originals. if its something i have to replace all windows, im going to wait. if it was something not majorly expensive, i wanted to get it fixed so i dont see fog on the windows all the time. ugh.

i have a PF9 (9mm, 7+1) i bought from a guy here. its one of the "larger" guns of the others mentioned (my buddy has the .380 and its tiny)...while it is nice for pocket carry, what was mentioned is true...it is a bitch to shoot. IIRC, its only like .83" wide...i dont even have large hands per se, and after going through 30-40 rounds, between my thumb and pointer finger was sore as fuck. i really should shoot it more to get used to it if im going to put my life on it, but every time i go to the range, i dont take it out, or if i do, just for a mag or 2, and go back to my M&P. but i picked it up for like $200, maybe less, with a box of hollowpoints, trigger lock, and a cheap desantis pocket holster

when you talk to them, tell me to send me my amended refund from buying my house... 9 weeks now ive been waiting (and yes, i realize it can take 8-12). i'd spend the shit though!
-
pretty much every window in my house (7 or 8) have condensation inside of them. the home inspector before i bought the house said (IIRC) something about the seal being broken, but i should be able to get the insides cleared/cleaned out, and resealed. anyone know someone who does this, or what kind of company can do this? TIA
-
i can check out BO...its just around the corner from me...im only at morse/sunbury. thanks for checking though!
-
lol. i spent time cleaning gutters today. fucking neighbors need to get rid of their prehistoric trees so they quit dropping shit on my roof
-
hm. i dont recall getting a bill from westerville for my ride when this guy pulled infront of me and i t-boned him (his fault). that was 14 months ago.
-
do they fold in 1/2 and 36" wide when closed? even flat ones are fine.
-
if you could point me to a link, that'd be great...but the cheapest of any closet doors i see on the HD website is 50$, and its not even the same size
-
yeah, that'd be sweet if its the same size. let me know. thanks! and no, it doesnt need to be solid. just something that will hide all the contents of the closet under my steps. where is the HFH place on westerville? im just at morse/sunbury so it cant be too far from me
