  1. I still don't see how it is giving up a right. I avoided going through it just fine. I avoided it because I was in a hurry friday night. If people don't want to go through it, they avoid it. You don't think avoidance looks suspicious at all? Wow, what is suspicious? Driving with a sign that says "I'm a criminal"? Is that the only way cops can do their jobs?
  2. U turns are illegal everywhere in the city of Columbus. Are we not talking about the checkpoint this past friday night? Plus, why are you still dodging the question of whether or not you feel that looks suspicious? Are you one of those people that feels that cops should only be 100% reactionary?
  3. BRB buying house in Naples
  4. ?? So you pull and illegal u-turn? Plus, you obviously can't argue that it doesn't look suspicious.
  5. Um, that is 100% false. I think they are banned from doing their own lending.
  6. Stay and weather the economic storm. Take on some higher visibility projects and build up your resume (or CV) . Make it so they can't live without you. Then when the job market gets better, go looking for a better paying job. The high visibility projects you did are going to make you a stronger candidate.
  7. Anyone who think that pulling a maneuver at anytime in any sitauation to avoid a sitting or waiting cop isn't suspicious is basically a dumbass. Crossing the street when you see a black person is called being racist. Turning around when you see a cop is a violation of our rights? Please
  8. I had a friend who went that way Friday night and turned into the shopping center. No cops came after him, no cops questioned him. Missouri /= Ohio. But look, you have gone to a strawman argument outside the basic realm of the checkpoint scenario. You still don't have to go through shit. I didn't have any cops chasing me down Henderson road when I took an alt. route. Explain that?
  9. Well lets see. Turning around AT a checkpoint would be probable cause. Just as much as seeing a cop and turning around and going the other way. Same damn thing. Also, once again, you DO NOT HAVE TO GO THROUGH THE CHECKPOINT. I went to my GF's house friday night. I got off 315 on Henderson road, came up Reed, went to her place on Bethel across from the Kroger. I didn't get chased, I didn't get stopped, and I made my own decision to not go through the checkpoint. You are arguing something that is false. PLUS, U-turns are illegal in the city of Columbus, so that doesn't make ANY argument null and void as the car just committed a traffic violation. Once again, tell me how they are forcing people to go through a checkpoint. Please.
  10. You screwed your own argument. You don't HAVE to go through anything.
  11. For my $78/sq ft brand new, I think I got a pretty good deal.
  12. It's not closed, but there is a neat old gas station in West Bedford Ohio off of TWP 51 and SR 541 in Coshocton County.
  13. So how is that putting me in my place? What the hell have I been saying this whole thread?
  14. Casy may be familiar. I mainly only did punch work from the time I was 12 until about 18, so I didn't really know any of the contractors. For some reason I mainly remember all the painters, lol.
  15. Meh, I don't wanna say where he lives. He's weird about his privacy. A lot of these big custom home builders are like that. Although I talk to Vince Romanelli every freakin time I am in Monte Carlo Kitchen in Westerville. He saw me with my Grandpa once, and now says hi to me all the time. Funny story about them. I can't remember which was which, but Romanelli and Hughes, one was a carpenter and the other was a barber. They decided they could build houses, and off they went. Of course, it is weird not seeing the Italians run every aspect of building in Columbus anymore.
  16. No, he was the general contractor for Silvercreek. Carlo and my dad are good friends.
  17. I can't help that you paid $200k for a $150k quality house.
  18. I think the joint venture with grandpa was Oakbrook. He also owned the J. Leonard Company, LodgeLand and Lodge Realty. You won't get him to admit this, but my Grandpa is the one who got Don Kenny started (Triangle) The Deascentis family is pretty close with my Grandpa and dad as well.
  19. Silvercreek was the last company he did. He retired in 2003.
  20. My dad and Carlo may have used you years ago. Dad was the owner of Silvercreek homes and Silvestri was the general contractor.
  21. No, just 40 years of custom home building experience.
  22. Honestly, I disagree about M/I and Dominion. You get what you pay for, and if your budget is for a $140k house, that is exactly what you get with M/I and Dominion, a solid build, and a warranty. My dad and and one of his good friends (another big name, but not tract home, custom home builder) went through a bunch of framed and roughed houses in my neighborhood and were impressed with the quality. Honestly, if they are impressed, those houses are good enough for anyone on this forum (structurally speaking) top to bottom.
  23. Yeah, the problem with Dominion really hasn't been the actual build, it's the finish. When I did my final walk-thru the foreman honestly told me there were certain things they just couldn't fix and were up to Dominion standards. Of course, not many of these things would be noticed by the average person or even most "in the know" homebuyers. Growing up around 50 custom home new builds per year has really skewed my view on what a "quality" home is.
  24. Yeah. I just live in a Condo House thing in Jefferson Run. I'm not really home enough to take care of the outside stuff, so while I'm single I decided to buy one of these. I will probably be building a Silvestri home within the next 2 years.
