  1. I would agree. My wife works for Sutherland Global doing U-Verse Support from home. I sometimes hear the calls, and most people seem to be generally frustrated with the service. Those who are heavy Internet users, generally don't watch a lot of TV. And those who are heavy TV users don't generally use high bandwidth applications. Once you combine the two though, heavy TV user and heavy Internet/Application users, then U-Verse begins to show why it sucks. In general how I (a TWC Employee) feel about all the services out there: Verizon FiOS - Best Method of delivery - FTTH is amazing. They did RFOG (RF over Glass) though, which puts them somewhat ahead of Cable MSO's, but not really. ATT U-Verse - Best backend. The fact that EVERY aspect of U-Verse is IP, is awesome. It is the future. Had they gotten out of VDSL and twisted pair, and went to pure ethernet and FTTH, nothing could beat it. Cable MSO's - Playing catchup. I don't think most Cable MSO's thought ATT or Verizon would be successful, but they were wrong. I know at TWC with our rollout of Docsis 3.0 we are also rolling our MOCA (whole home DVR) and will soon be rolling out a DOCSIS Set-Top Gateway (think U-Verse, but Cable Company).
  2. In some essence, yes it is like that and no it isn't. In the old days it used to be a Giant pseudo Token Ring, exactly what you were saying 1 talker at a time. Now we have hundreds of contention slots on a router. Each talker (voice or data) ties up 1 or more contention slots. Although there is still even more to it than that. Especially once you get into QAM Modulation Profiles, etc.... You could easily spend hours talking about DOCSIS.
  3. In Powell yes, but if he stays with the "Within 30 minutes of CMH" I know of a place for sale with 30+ Acres, 2200 sq ft house for less than 195k
  4. So if your watching 4 HD Streams in your house at 1 time, how fast can you download from the net? That's right, you don't have any bandwidth left to get more than 1 Mbps down.
  5. I would agree with you until you got to DOCSIS. Being an Engineer who works in a DOCSIS enviornment all day, your are 100% wrong about DOCSIS.
  6. DSL is shared at the DSLAM..... So your argument of shared bandwidth is pretty fruitless. All Bandwidth is shared at some point, not 1 single person on this earth has dedicated bandwidth. It is just where it becomes shared that is different.
  7. You sure you were holding it correctly? I usually put 250+ rounds per range outing through mine, and never have bruises.
  8. I always use Ace Iron. We moved Data Centers for work and scored about 5k from from.
  9. Vances stocks it. 100 rounds for 30 bucks
  10. Well and Spring are the way to go. Can taste a bit on the mineral side of things, but it is nothing too bad.
  11. Reverse Osmosis System, is a GREAT investment. Take all the Fluoride and crap out of the public water supply. Also Wells are very good too!
  12. 800 bucks a month, you could rent a house. Just sayin
  13. I have seen this ride around, as I live in German Village. I think the License plate is EmergenC9 or something like that. Hope for the best...looks like a clean ride.
  14. Did you ask to speak with a Supervisor or a Retention Specialist? Most of the time, those 2 have deals that the general Customer Service Reps, don't have to offer. At least this is how TW is.
  15. I know for a fact this cat was taken good care of, just like all of Bill's other animals. Don't be so quick to judge someone...it isn't easy to make this decision. A lot of factors go into whether or not to put an animal down. If the cat was approaching the end of it's life, then it may just be easier and more humane to do this. Also, people have situations happen to them. When you buy an animal and things are going good and steady for you, you expect it to keep happening. You think things are stable in your life and the company you are with. As Bill said, he was laid off. No one expected us (Time Warner) to ever lay off Engineers. It happens. Don't be so blind an ignorant to judge someone, and the situation they are in. That being said, I have always found OSU to be the most expensive. I went there for an emergency once, and paid more than I did when I went to the one on Trabue Rd. Bill, sorry you gotta make this choice. It is hard, I know.
  16. We will never have it in Central Ohio. 1. Verizon has stopped all new Rollouts 2. Verizon is not the ILEC here.
  17. If you fly one of the Big Names then yes. If you fly a discount Airline, then no.
  18. Craigslist (just watch for the scams). Any of the Local Papers (Dispathch, Other, Columbus Alive, etc....)
  19. First site I have ever seen list pricing for Air Tran and Jet Blue. Not bad. I notcied they quote their prices in Round Trip too, which is nice.
  20. And it was a hoax: http://techcrunch.com/2010/08/11/elyse-porterfield/
  21. The problem is Kayak doesn't search discount airlines (Jet Blue, Southwest, Air Tran, etc....) No matter what, you will pay more using a 3rd party site. Buying direct from a Discount Airline is the best way to go. Kayak won't get me on any 89 dollar flights.
