  1. Yup, duck canvas/cloth runs about $8/yd. I've already looked into that as well.
  2. I threw one away not too long ago because I couldn't give it away. Sorry man.
  3. Thanks for the comments everyone. The first set turned out really well, but keep in mind, that was the very first set I've ever made. I have a few ideas how to improve upon a couple of things here and there. I have materials to start on another set this week, so if anyone does want one, I could start on it right away. Shoot me a PM if interested.
  4. I think he has a few other issues to worry about as well - http://www.annarbor.com/sports/post-2/
  5. Soooooo ready for this season to start. Hard to believe it will have been 8 months to the day since we last saw OSU football.
  6. Well, I could do some sort of paint scheme depending on what you would prefer. This one looks pretty good and a fairly simple layout. Or we could come up with something else depending on your preference.
  7. Thanks man. Nice of you to say. And sure, I'll make you an OSU set even if you're a scUM fan.
  8. $41 They had pre-cut 2'x4' sheets that were $27 each, so with Lowe's cutting them for me for free, it was a MUCH better deal. Still maybe not the cheapest route, but I didn't want them to be cheap and I would hope these would last for a nice long time.
  9. Might have to get with you about those. Been wanting to do a brick patio myself. We'll talk.
  10. haha, not sure if I'll have another set ready by Saturday, but I do have an older set that belongs to one of my friends at my house, so we can use those. I still have a few of the measurements memorized, so I'll be happy to lend a hand.
  11. The 11 ply offers more rigidity and is fairly light weight. Plus you can see some of the grain through the paint.
  12. Thanks. Na, the Valspar paint I used is supposed to do a good job of sealing the wood.
  13. They turned out really well and for the first set I've ever built, I was pretty pleased. Gregg and his wife really enjoyed them when we got a chance to break them in Saturday night. Very first toss (made by Gregg) went in the hole. Oh, one other thing I did was to add a few velcro sections under the board to store the measuring tool I made. I cut a nylon rope to the 27' length and added two chrome rings to each end to help in laying out the boards instead of having to dig out a measuring tape every time.
  14. All done! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v289/TimTaylor75/Cornhole/DSC01906.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v289/TimTaylor75/Cornhole/DSC01907.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v289/TimTaylor75/Cornhole/DSC01908.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v289/TimTaylor75/Cornhole/DSC01910.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v289/TimTaylor75/Cornhole/DSC01911.jpg
  15. Legs nearly finished up http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v289/TimTaylor75/Cornhole/DSC01905.jpg
  16. Nearly finished http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v289/TimTaylor75/Cornhole/DSC01898.jpg Masking off for the black stripes http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v289/TimTaylor75/Cornhole/DSC01899.jpg The legs with the stripes continued http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v289/TimTaylor75/Cornhole/DSC01901.jpg Last color added http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v289/TimTaylor75/Cornhole/DSC01902.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v289/TimTaylor75/Cornhole/DSC01903.jpg
  17. After the tape for the scarlet and grey was removed http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v289/TimTaylor75/Cornhole/DSC01889.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v289/TimTaylor75/Cornhole/DSC01890.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v289/TimTaylor75/Cornhole/DSC01893.jpg The white lines going on http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v289/TimTaylor75/Cornhole/DSC01895.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v289/TimTaylor75/Cornhole/DSC01896.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v289/TimTaylor75/Cornhole/DSC01897.jpg
  18. I also wanted to avoid damage to the backs of the legs as well as the frame when the legs are in use, so I added some rubber stoppers to the backsides of the legs. Here you can see some counter-sunk screws in place. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v289/TimTaylor75/Cornhole/DSC01880.jpg Here is the scarlet and grey laid out with painters tape (which was carried through the hole opening) http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v289/TimTaylor75/Cornhole/DSC01882.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v289/TimTaylor75/Cornhole/DSC01886.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v289/TimTaylor75/Cornhole/DSC01888.jpg
  19. I pre-drilled and counter-sunk so I could cover the screw holes with filler to be able to paint over them. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v289/TimTaylor75/Cornhole/DSC01855.jpg Assembling the first board http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v289/TimTaylor75/Cornhole/DSC01857.jpg The first board with filler drying http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v289/TimTaylor75/Cornhole/DSC01858.jpg Underside http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v289/TimTaylor75/Cornhole/DSC01859.jpg For the legs, I had given some thought in how to avoid the common damage areas you run into when going with folding legs, so I installed nylon bushings in the legs as well as on the frame so the bolt would ride on the bushing verses against the wood. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v289/TimTaylor75/Cornhole/DSC01874.jpg Bushing mounted to the frame with wood filler (which was sanded down) http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v289/TimTaylor75/Cornhole/DSC01878.jpg
  20. My buddy Gregg (tripleGmax) and his wife just closed on their first home and moved in while I was on vacation, so I wasn't able to help them move. Knowing they both really enjoy cornhole, I decided to make them a homemade set as a house-warming gift and may have over engineered it just a bit, but I think it will turn out really nice. I bought a 4'x8' sheet of birch and had Lowe's cut it for me since I don't have a table saw, so I ended up with tops for 2 sets. After a few people have seen these pics, I've been commissioned to build a few more sets. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v289/TimTaylor75/Cornhole/DSC01847.jpg I wanted to give the boards a nice finished look, so I routed the edges on the board as well as both sides of the hole, so you avoid catching your hand on the under side when retrieving the bags. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v289/TimTaylor75/Cornhole/DSC01850.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v289/TimTaylor75/Cornhole/DSC01851.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v289/TimTaylor75/Cornhole/DSC01852.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v289/TimTaylor75/Cornhole/DSC01854.jpg
