  1. Born and raised on the West Side of Columbus. The ignorance in this thread comes from you pussies who feel Columbus actually has any really ghetto areas. There are many poor areas but using the word hood is a little extreme. If any area in Columbus scares or makes you feel uneasy, please hand in your testicals
  2. http://smiliesftw.com/x/bowroflred.gif There's no way it is anything other than a mountain lion
  3. Any 2.0 SOHC alternator from an eclipse, talon, elantra, sonata and a few others. Anybody have one?
  4. playing with the fast idle helped a bunch. now I think the pulloff needs adjustment. any idea how long the choke should stay on before the idle drops?
  5. Interesting. Yea, the engine doesn't speed up any at all with the choke on. Is this something easy to fix/adjust?
  6. This has got to be a choke issue. Car starts and idles great while warm. When cold it fires up quick but is very, very choppy and dies after 5-6 seconds(giving it gas usually worsens it, but seems to be key in the long run). Sometimes it will fire right back up. Other times I have to get out and manually release the choke, crank it over a few times, engage the choke and it will eventually start again. Then it's back to being choppy. I have no idea where to start when adjusting the choke. Sites I have found leave me confused. If it gets any colder before I fix the problem I'm afraid this thing won't start at all. The carb that is on it now is a used one from a bonneville, and is unmolested. Sorry if that was a pain to read. It's 4:00a.m, I have a migraine and it's a shitty day already edit-I should mention when the choke is on and it's "choppy" it smokes
  7. flywheel will be fine. I'd go ahead and put a new throw out in it though bad clutch after 2k miles? Learn how to drive a standard son
  8. turned the key on, pressed the pedal down to engage the choke(worked perfectly) now that it's warm the choke is wide open and is not closing(normal??) Now I need to figure out how to adjust/tune this thing. It bogs under normal throttle but smooths out when kicked down
  9. just went out to start fucking with it after it sat all night and the choke is now closed and it's like there never was a problem. It's not fully closed though, should it be?
  10. pulloff works fine. It's the little tab that it hits on its way down
  11. electric. Whatever it is had to have happened because of the filter not allowing it to close I just got this carb from pick n pull two days ago:rofl:
  12. little sponge filter in the breather housing managed to jump ship and land in the choke. Now the choke is stuck open and when I manually shut it, it just opens right back up. I can see what the problem is but have no idea as to fixing it. The linkage is stuck down

  14. pics, price, is it in good working order? Waiting on Shawn's reply back. He mentioned he'd let his go for $30, feel free to undercut
  15. To reset "MAINTENANCE REQUIRED" light, turn ignition off, press and hold the SELECT and RESET buttons. Turn ignition and hold buttons for 10 seconds until the indicator resets.
  16. lol I replied to the email you sent me earlier from craigslist Got pics? What part of columbus?
  17. Pretty much any computer controlled carb from an 80's model rwd gm should work. None of the local yeards have one and I'm not driving an hour to u pull it w/o knowing they have one for sure. pic for reference: http://www.i-5automotive.com/p5images/4395.jpg
  18. bad ground or ignition will cause it to do diesel(I guess is the term?)? How would I go about checking this? I made a post on another forum and got this back as the first and only reply: "When the engine is warm, the choke butterfly should be straight up & down. If it is at any kind of angle, something is wrong. If the choke thermostat (the round black plastic piece on the passenger side of the carb) is not operating properly, such as not getting the 12 volts it needs to warm up and release the choke, or has gotten weak over time (it happens with all the heat cycles), then not only will the choke butterfly not open completely, but the high idle cam will not disengage properly, which will lead to run-on. However, if this is the case, your engine is not idling fine - it's idling too fast. Look at those things, and also let us know what your warmed-up idle RPMs are."
  19. No can do at the moment. Looks like a used one froma yard will have to work
  20. I'm either going to attempt it myself or just get another from the local yard Is this all I would need? http://www.partsamerica.com/ProductDetail.aspx?MfrCode=GPS&MfrPartNumber=96519A&PartType=428&PTSet=A cliffs on this "mod" you're talking about?
