Check inside the car under the dash board on the firewall. I had the same problem with mine and the master went bad and was leaking under the carpet. It was almost impossible to notice that there was fluid underneath the carpet way up under the dash.

I managed to be one of the members to receive a sample bottle. I had my car is storage for a few months and had a potential buyer coming to look at this morning. I used super kote on the bottom half of the car to restore the shine and what a great job it did. I also ended up selling the car!! I would recommend this product. Thanks again to 614 streets for the free sample.

Figured I would update you guys. Decided to come home for the weekend and when merging from 270 to 70 I hear a whine. Next thing u know I have to drive 40-50mph. Yes you called it the rear took a shit on me. Everytime I let off the gas or hit a certain rpm it whines and clunks like you could not believe. It got to the point where it actually started to hurt me ears. Only problem now is that i'm 200 miles away and not sure if it will make it back to the shop.Tow's around $550.00 and shop owner wont pay. Will the gears eventually just get torn apart and the truck will not move or do you think theres a change of making it 200 miles under its own power?

Saw this ad on the trader a while back. I didnt think 100 for the set up was a bad deal. Here's the link http://www.dsmsource.com/classifieds/showproduct.php?product=26690&cat=all

Chase, car looks good. What kind of truck did you happen to pick up? I talked to hathaway awhile back and he said he might be interested in my talon. If you ever talk to him tell him I got it all back together and give me a ring if hes still interested.

Yea I had trouble finding a rear end here also. It's been 2 weeks already without a vehicle so I had to bite the bullet and pay.... O well thats life and another lesson learned

So i asked the guy what his labor rate is and he said it ranged from 80-110 per hour. I said then how in the world are you charging me 135.00 per hour? His reply was he has a gas bill to pay, insurance, and many other expenses so he is going to charge me what he wants. He pretty much said he has my truck tore apart and unless I give he what he says my truck will sit there. I've lost all respect for the man and the shop. He couldn't even sit down and have a civilized conversation about the situation without changing the subject. I guess I learned the hard way its better to shop around like AJ said. Thanks again for everyones input.

Thanks for all the replies I appreciate it!

If my maths correct $800.00/5.9= $135.59..... It's just a small independent transmission shop and the only reason I went there was because I was afraid to pay dealer prices!! It sounds like I need to have a talk with him and find out how he's calculated the labor cost.
-
Yea i got really confused when talking to him because he was very very vague with me. I looked at the truck and the rear end is completley empty nothing in it. Is it easier on their part to buy the entire diff case? Thanks for all the info BTW....
-
hmmmm so thats 5.9 hours. I dont see where this guy is getting $800.00 just in labor.
-
I'm sorry rear differential

The shop has the carrier torn all apart and all the shims, spacers, and everything else thrown in a box therefore I dont know why they keep telling me it's not serviceable. I'm not a mechanic so maybe they know something i dont.

Is there any way I can access like a dealer book that shows the amount of time charged for this service?

This thread should have been ended a long time ago with a simple YAHHHHHH TRICK YAHHHHH!!!!!!!!

I've never been called a pudley shmuckster or pudley shmucktologist so no I can't say i'm a pud. And in order to have a boyfriend i'd have to be homosexual which im not, so assuming I was a pud licker is also out of the question.
-
After hoblick referred to you as a "pud" it sparked my interest to what in fact a pud really is.
-
Or maybe he meant this one. A pud is a male person who has a baby face and who's hips are wider than his shoulders. He basically has a pear shaped body with a baby face. Also describes a person with a pudley build. Often combined with a few other words, such as pudley shmuckster or pudley shmucktologist. Look at that pud standing over there going through the lesbian videos...He probably has nightly fantasies of taking a big 15" strap-on in his butt.

pud An abnormally weak and wimpy person. Synonym for wimp, weakling, pussy, and wussy. Also indicative of someone with lots of fear, afraid of almost anything. A pud would run from any fight, shy away from any argument, be and be physically weak. Typically an insult equated with failure as far as a physical challenge or inability to take on easy challenges. Also synonymous with pudwacker. Dude, just do it, don't be such a pud AWW Man, The hot girl wanted to make out with Matt, but he got scared and ran away. What a little pud! What, you can't even bench the freekin bar! What a pud!

About a week ago the rear end was locking up in my truck when i was in reverse. So i would move foward and it would free up. I have a 4 hour drive home so I figured I better get it checked out. I took it to a tranny shop here in findlay. They poped the cover off and found a tiny piece of metal on the magnet in the bottom. I signed a piece of paper that allowed them to remove and inspect the rear diff. I did not see the part where he crossed off the reinstallation part. So I get a phone call saying the rear end is not serviceable and they have to buy a whole new diff. I asked him what the metal was from and they said it was a "wear shim". I go to the shop and the mechanic told me you aren't suppose to take the diff apart but he wanted to just to see what was going on. I also asked them to tie up the calipers and brake lines so they didn't have the weight of the caliper pulling on them but he insisted to me that he knew what he was doing and it was no big deal. So here's the price breakdown. Master bearing kit 145.63 Diff case 368.44 Brake shoes- 56.58 Fluids 24.98 LABOR= 800.00 I'm not real famaliar with rear end and was curious if this sounds like a fair price or is this guy giving me the run around. The only 2 things that seem odd to me are that the rear diff is not serviceable and the labor to me seems to be kind of high. Sorry if I went on a rant it's just these people aren't the most friendly people to deal with. Any input would be appreciated.

Bought the tester. Never knew thing something like that existed. Negative on the head gasket so I'm going to replace the cap and if no luck probably the intake gasket. What would be some other signs if it is the intake gasket? Thanks again!
